GTA III ran bad even on some very good machines, however GTA VC will require at least a decent computer to get the best out of it but it is more stable. If you even think your computer is good enough buy it, its worth the cash.

The thing is, I've already got VC on the PS2 and I do like it. However, it's meant to be so much better on the PC - especially that multiplayer mod! If I did get it I would probably sell the PS2 copy. Is it worth it just for the extra features/mods/etc.?

I have and XP1800+, 512Mb RAM, and a Ti4200, and I don't have any slowdown at all. The only time I've ever experienced any lag was on the bank heist mission, when there was an abnormally high amount of smoke in the room, and then it was very choppy, probably in the single digits.
