Aggressor 0
hello all, i have been trying to hotsync my palm for the past day and a bit and i keep getting the same error: Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application. the thing is..there is no other application using the front usb ports..just the printer on the back usb port, but its not on when i try to hotsync. i have also disabled every app in the system tray (avg antivirus, msn messenger, etc). any ideas? Rocky 1,224
Click on the hotsync icon in the task bar and check that Local USB is selected, and it hasn't somehow changed to something else, like serial. You haven't been messing around with infra red or anything like that?
Aggressor 0
Rocky, thanks for the reply. I did a full uninstall and install of all Palm related software and it still does not work. On installation of the Palm Desktop software i get this error message: The instruction at 0x771c732a referenced memory at 0x001693d8. the memory could not be read. click on ok to terminate the program. I did that and the software seems to be working ok...but whats the deal with the infra red stuff that you mentioned? Thanks
Rocky 1,224
I think you should try Palm support, they are quite good. I mentioned infra red because I remember getting the same port error as you when I was trying out syncing with infra red ports.
