Furious Styles 0
Hi people, I purchased GR two days ago and I'm already hooked. After playing these types of games for a couple of years now with Deus Ex and Half-Life being my favourites, I thought I'd check out what support the game has online. Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I'm mightyly impressed with this site and the resources it has available. I work on a Championship Manager fansite and this puts our sorry asses to shame. So nice one.
ZJJ 74
Thanks for the compliment. I hope you enjoy your stay here at GR.net! When you bought GR did you happen to get the gold edition that has the two expansion packs? If you are hooked on plain GR, wait until you add the expansion packs and start downloading mods. egobirchy 0
Welcome. As a fan of Championship Manager and of Ghost recon I've noticed the same. There is so much input to the Ghost Recon community - like zij says, stick around a while and see how much there is to enjoy.

magnumkp 0
I got a problem, I bought one of the those unmarked tins from tescos. How can it do what it says on the tin if it hasn't got a label? Could be Peaches, could be Beans. Life's a lottery.

Could be Peaches, could be Beans. Life's a lottery. How did ya buy it if it had no label? Where was the barcode? The only alternative is that you stole it! And how come you did the shopping, was the Butler ill?
Furious Styles 0
Thanks for the compliment. I hope you enjoy your stay here at GR.net! When you bought GR did you happen to get the gold edition that has the two expansion packs? If you are hooked on plain GR, wait until you add the expansion packs and start downloading mods. Thanks Zjj I've only got the basic GR I'm afraid although from having a spy around I think these expansion packs may have to be my next purchase. So to play online you need these then for most games do you? Also are there any good mods (ooh I'm getting technical already lol) for GR on its own?
magnumkp 0
There are some people hosting who only have the original GR, (the you might even bump into the infamous Snake.) However for general playing experience get the 2 expansions. (plus most mods now require the expansions).
Specter 0
I think pretty much everyone here is runnin' with all expansions. One thing you can try though is The All Seeing Eye. It will give you the option to locate servers with what you are running, and it is a free download. Good luck, and hurry up and grab DS and IT and just wait till you get your hands on some of the mods man.
ZJJ 74
Also are there any good mods (ooh I'm getting technical already lol) for GR on its own? There are a lot of mods listed in the downloads section of this site. Some that don't require DS or IT. However,tThe hard part is weeding through them to find what doesn't need one or both of the expansion packs. In my opinion it would just be easier to get the expansions and then go to our mods forum for a list of recommended mods. Also, keep an eye on this thread, forum members are listing some mods for GR only.
SOTOMac 0
So to play online you need these then for most games do you ? Also are there any good mods ( ooh I'm getting technical already lol ) for GR on its own ? Answer to the First Question is that It depends on the Server that You are going to be Gaming on. There are a couple of Options here and I'll explain. 1. Direct IP --> IP Connections with a Host and Players who are running the same Version of the "G.R." Engine as You are ( w/ "G.R." only and none of the Expansion Packs installed - The Engine's Version Number would be - V1.0.0 Unpatched / and If Patched it would be - V1.2.10 ) will allow You to Game online with others. 2. Searching for Servers with Programs such as GameSpy or A.S.E. that are running the same Version of the Engine that You are will also get You some online Games. Secondly - There are Mods still out for the Original "G.R." but for the most part since the Community has moved along with the Engine's progression - Most of those Mods would - At best - Be archived in the Mod Download section of this Site and others that catter to this Community. My best advice is to just search and see what You find... I hope this lays a little bit of the confusion to rest for You. Sincerely,
Furious Styles 0
Thanks everyone for your help. I'll be sure to look up these updates as I wouldn't mind getting into the online side of the game, which I presume is what most people on here are into primarily as the game is a little older (do correct me if I'm wrong). Well cheers again and rest assured this will be my first port of call for all things GR.
