slithe 0 Posted October 8, 2003 Share Posted October 8, 2003 I am fairly new to GR on-line (4 weeks), and I am wanting to start my own clan. Can anybody give me some idea about how to do this?? I have compiled a list of questions in the hope that there might be somebody out there that can answer them! 1. How and where do I register my clan name? 2. How will I know if no other clans share the same name? 3. How do I register my clan for tournies and ladder matches? 4. Is there any other information/advice that I may need to start my clan? On another note, reading through some of the postings, the authors have a rank/rating such as 'Pointman-second class' and 'Recruit-first class'! How and where do you get 'ranked'? How do I find out what my ranking is? Lots of questions, and I would hope someone could help me. I would first suggest getting a website and forums started. 1. How and where do I register my clan name? The only place you register a clan name is on the ladders you want to match on. Here is one example TCZ Ladder - Link 2. How will I know if no other clans share the same name? By looking here and maybe a few other ladders you will be able to tell if somebody has a name similar to the one you want to use. 3. How do I register my clan for tournies and ladder matches? You can register your squad at the ladder website you want to join. Joining tournements are usually done at the website of the squad hosting the tournament. 4. Is there any other information/advice that I may need to start my clan? Start a website and forums. That is like a virtual home of all squads. It is a place where team members meet to plan for practices, tactics, matches, ect... Plus, forums are a good way for other teams to contact you about matches and other things. Develop the criteria for your squad, ie... what type of squad you want to be (laddering, co-op, or both). Develop your chain of command to determine how you want your squad to be run (military, or semi military, ect...) Also, it is a good idea to get a dedicated server for your squad.
