Kpl.Eli,Oct 6 2003, 14:19 ] @Para I give you a 3/10 for your answer, sorry m8, but you talks like ut mister modder urself, I cant stand such ppl.....

(Thats " MY " opinion)

Para is right. It's a bit boxy and could use more work but it is still not a bad model. I'd say 5 or 6/10 as well. Community average.

@RR_GRT

But keep up to good work and you'll be even better.

Ouch. We've gone from looking at a model, to judging my character now, have we? Read my post again. I said "Not phenomenally good, but not bad either." That means average, which is what it is.

Well I remember those days before, when i wanted to ask somebody, but got a rude answer back....

maybe forgotten, but not here!

ok I will stop this kind of Writing, cuz it will bring us all nothing.

Model maybe a bit boxed, but hey give him a break, maybe its his first gun, spended a lot of time on it, and would love to hear reaction on it.

Then he got only this answer, no advice or such,...sorry but I find that bad.

I give when they want to know an advice or just add some suggestions to his Weapon...

I'll know that my models are not the real top of the art aswell, but thats why im also see myself more as a Normal modder that help ppl where i can and try to make my models as good as I can.

Kp :stupid:

Edit: -> I'm a person thats direct in the things he thinks or do, I give an answer on things, that can be a bit rude for others, or a person in question.

but thats me, maybe its a bad habbit, but i like ppl that are direct to me, and tell me when they think im a fool, or such and dont doit behind my back.!

Not to get off subject, but I don't think you know me very well. I've spent the better part of two years, helping other modders out in the GR community. I see no need for you to take out your pent-up frustrations on me, or anyone else.

OK, back to the original topic. You want suggestions, here's a few:

  • Work the mag some more. There's a visible crease where the object segments.
  • Cut the outer faces on the retractable stock arms, and bring them out a bit. They look too tall and boxy as-is.
  • Rework that foregrip! It doesn't look convincing.
  • Find a different scope mount. That one looks like it's just tossed on top of the weapon.
  • The texturing is the redeeming quality of this weapon. I don't see to many blatanly obvious omissions in proper texturing. For some reason, I really like the pistol grip. :)
  • I like the scope's lens texture. I'm not sure how authentic it is, but it's a nice contrast to the grey-ish color of the rest of the texture.
  • If you want to get positive feedback, don't render on 100% backgrounds like blue or green. The bright color draws the eye away from the model, and on to the background. Try rendering the same shot, on a 125,125,125 background, with the ambient light turned up a little bit. The weapon will look much more natural, and the subtleties of the texture will jump out at the viewer. As it stands, it looks like the blue background is going to overtake and swallow the MP5 at any moment.

Kpl.Eli,Oct 6 2003, 10:45 ] Well Para Strange thing is, that U can come up with some advice now.

The Poster of the original asked: "What you think"

so why do we always have to post such things as I did before first, to get the things we want????

Kp :-"

Dude - move on. I told him what I thought. I told him that it was "Not phenomenally good, but not bad, either".

I think we are getting a bit OT here.

No one's character was in question, he just asked for an opinion on his model.

Just because someone critiques a model, doent mean his character is in question.

Everyone critiques differently. Please lets not turn this into a flame fest guys.

The way you get ideas and get better is to hear a lot of points of view. No one was insulting the gentleman.

Let's keep things civil please.

Thanks guys.

Yeah guys, I think we all want the same thing - an honest forum, that offers encouragement and advice as well as opinion. The key thing is that there's no fighting between us, since GR.net seems to be unique in not having antagonistic threads.

Maybe there is a missunderstanding here.

First of all we heard from Para:

* 6/10 on that weapon. It's not phenomenally good, but not bad either.

After that I wrote my post and there he comes with a whole list of advices or suggestions.....

Hmm, why didnt he wrote this before, in his First post then ??

Then this all wasnt needed, to get a (in my eyes) a desent answer, on the poster his model.

Kp

But when I insulted, Somebody with the art of my writing or the used words,..

I'm Sorry, but wasnt the meaning of it, in the first place.

Because, while specific constructive criticism is always nice, Para had no real obligation to post what he eventually did. The thread asked "What [do] you think[?]" not "What improvements would you suggest?"

Here is the way I see it guys, and what I would want when I start modding.

If I ask for an opinion, I want it honest and to the point. This can be done without insults, and I saw none here at all. Para and the others were just being honest about what they saw.

As a new modder, I wont get alot better without honest opinions from the old timers. Please pardon the expression guys.

There is alot of high talent at our site, with alot of valuable input.

I saw no reason whatever to turn this discussion in this direction.

Yes, everyone is new sometime. But telling someone their work is great when they ask for an honest opinion, and it needs something isnt going to help.

There wasnt any impolite or insulting critiques here in my view, and Id like to see this stay constructive, in the best interest of the new modder.

[GRT1]Kpl.Eli you are over reacting, again and again and again, which has albut ruined the original poster's chances of taking anything other than a headache from this discussion.

@SOTOPhantm ur putting the words bro....

I'm sorry but for those that dont know, that English isnt my born Language.

So sometimes I may not write the words down as I mean, this can cause some probs with understanding from others, and put all into a bad light.

So I'M sorry for the wrong used words. :(

First off, nice model but I'm new too so mine wouldn't be much better. The old timers gave all the advice that I could give (and gave me alittle, thanks for the lighting tip Para  )

Now that the first topic has been talked about I can move onto the second.

I personaly would rather have someone come down hard on a model then say nothing at all. If I was to post a model and no one said anything I would really have to assume it suck and wasn't worth anyone time (but I don't think that would ever happen in this community). That would more or less kill modding for me.

But if people do post about my model (even if it stings my pride or ego) and tell me what they see wrong with it or some tips to improve the model I will go back, fix it and then hop onto a another model with more zeal because I know how to improve them.

Just my 2 cents :)
