little to much freedom for AI, best solutions?

Recommended Posts

I was testing out a rescue part of my mission and came across a problem. I have a base guarded by 2 tanks i blow up both tanks and took the side door and the long way to where my captured allied soilder was. I noticed the enemy soilder was gone and later saw him near the tanks investigating what happened. Than i saw him again investigating where the shots came from.

(i didnt have a good shot of him eighter time)

I rescued the hostige and went to go kill the enemy but he was no place to befound. I searched the forest and went to the cross roads and he shot me from the store.

I liked the idea of him seeing what happened to the tanks and seeing where the shots came from but running all the way across the map and hiding was a bit to much.

Is there a way to restrict the going across the map and hide part and give him more of a see what happened to the tanks and where the shots came from approach?

he doesnt have a plan. and i dont want to teleport him if he gets to far away. and i dont want him to patoral a zone really.

I was thinking if he gets to zone_xyz trigger him to patrol would that take him away of searching for what is wrong or will he just walk around like nothing happened.

get anything else?

Yes, just give him a trigger plan for whatever you want him to do. If you don't want it to look like he has given up looking for you then put his Alertness to combat and adjust his pace to whatever you want.
