Sgt Rock Posted October 3, 2003 Share Posted October 3, 2003 Bob the Nailer and I decided to play an HX4 mission – I forget the name, but it was set in the Ghost Town map, and you start in the house on the hill. The goal is to assassinate an evil scientist, a chemical engineer, and a warlord. The first time we played the mission, we both picked the wrong kits, not knowing what to expect, so the 2nd time, we both went with decent sniper rifles and grenades. Our game plan was to get out of the house and soon as possible. I wanted to hole up in a remote spot and clear as many tangos as possible before attempting the assassinations. Bob, however, wanted to get right down to assassinating, so he ran toward the junkyard. I followed. Not surprisingly, we both got capped. After respawning in the house, I went with my original game plan, and picked a nice hide. Bob went back after the scientist. He was, of course, immediately killed. By this time, things had started to heat up around the house, and he was trapped inside. From my position, I was able to take care of 3 jeeps/trucks and their associated combatants, as well as ten or twelve tangos on foot. In the house, Bob was killed repeatedly, as he was pinned down from the side of the house I couldn’t see. After a lot of grenades and a lot of failed mad dashes, Bob made it over to me. I cleared the field while he went back to assassination, and we successfully took care of all of the mission objectives. The only remaining task was to get to the evac point. As we ran to the evac, Bob began shooting into the air, and then throwing grenades in front of me. I tossed a grenade ahead of him as a warning, and he turned and shot me, claiming that he thought the grenade was going to kill him. Of course, it didn’t, but I was respawned in the house. At this point, the house was crawling with tangos, and a sniper rifle was perhaps the worst possible weapon. By the time we finished the mission, I was killed an additional 34 times. Bob The Nailer Posted October 3, 2003 Share Posted October 3, 2003 ahhh. he's making a mountain out of a mole hill. he forgot to mention that the mission objectives were to assissinate 3 people and get to extraction. i hunted and shot all 3 while he played cowboy and indian so i thought he needed more of a challenge. and he got it.
