Wabbit Season

Bob the Nailer and I decided to cowboy-up and go huntin’ for some rebel scum. We slipped into our usual sniper gear, and I loaded up a sniper map of the farm. This map had 100 snipers positioned around the map. We’d never played this particular sniper map before.

When the map started, Bob was immediately disoriented. The spawn point is actually outside of the map – beyond the barbed wire fence at the far side of the creek. I think Bob was holding the map upside down or something. While he ran around in confusion, I mad quick work of some bad guys.

Once settled, we ran quickly along the border, delivering taps to the head to everyone we met. Bob, as usual, left his patience, along with his subtlety, back on the helicopter. As the game progressed, he racked up more kills, but also racked up a proportionately larger number of deaths. Given how far away from the action the spawn point was, caution was the better part of valor in my book.

I like this series of maps because the cannon fodder bad guys don’t just stand there waiting for a love letter, they move around, and often will run at you in groups. I had a close call by the stone wall at one point. I was facing away from the wall, taking out a few targets, when someone started kicking up dirt around me. I was in a prone position, so spinning around quickly was a little tough. I managed to turn in time to see a tango coming through the wall (weird part on this map) and tagged him quickly. He had three buddies right behind him, all with blood lust in their eyes (blood lust, I swear). I couldn’t wait for the crosshairs to settle on my Stoner rifle, but started shooting quickly. The rifle holds only 10 rounds per magazine, and I’d already spent 4 of them. It was as if I’d felt Snake’s hand on my shoulder, steadying my aim, and all three tangos quickly fell. I, too, had cheated death. I stood up, and walked over to inspect my handiwork, and was immediately capped by another sniper. Snake, where did you go?!

Bob, once again, also found himself in the thick of things. In a similar situation, a pair of evil aggressors, hell-bent on bloodshed, pursued Bob. As he stopped to fire, he managed to take out both tangos with a single bullet. Perhaps piercing both adversaries with a Lee Harvey Oswald-style “magic” bullet.

Back at the leader board, Bob had scored exactly twice the kills, but also had twice the deaths. Who’s the winner? You decide…

I think it was from the map where you have to rescue some campers and kill the loggers and blow up their trucks.

right right. that's the one. what mod is it? we should do that again. i'm sure these guys would like it too. that stuff we played last night was lag city beyond belief though. i think it was the same map they played in the post about 100 dead bodies. didn't work to well for us though. i think we need to get out of the house right off and set up outside. off topic i know.
