snared_gambit 0
Well, even though I'm still in my infancy of modeling, this here's my attempt at an MK 23. I'm proud of this one guys! So, there it is Now, tell me what you think!
Stalker 0
hey looks really good to me need 10 seconds to notice that there are two guns on the pic
McNamee 0
Yea, looks nice, although unclear because of the pic in background, but from what i can see, nice job for an infant of moddeling
dagger 0
Nice job man it would be better to have something besides a pic of the mk23 in the back round
snared_gambit 0
I put the pic there to show off! I though it looked really cool like that. And that's the only angle it looks good at. Only the sides are textured. The top, bottom and the back are not textured yet.
Aces21 0
Looks good keep on throwin them out wish i could modle :'(
Swarm 0
Looks good man And now for the other question....How does it look ingame????
Marcinko 1
Granted GR has a low poly limit, but that thing is blockier than hell, no offense. try chamfering, using bevel, of editing the mesh, to make rounded edges. the Mk23's rear site isnt solid all the way through. and like these guys have said, it's hard to tell, i reccomend not rening it on a bkrn as such that u have chose, greyish blueish is good. texturing could use some work too. snared_gambit 0
Hey cink, a little puffed up on yourself? Granted, your models are great, but I've had max for about a month. So, I really don't appreciate snobby comments such as that. I'm sure that back in the day, you also pulled some real crappers. I was proud of that model. Thanks m8. I've barely learned how to unwrap uvws, select different faces, and texture. So please, keep your snotty comments to yourself next time.
Guest SI-Prozac
i dont even know what unwrap does now... and iv been using it for a year
Zantar45 0
Looks good. Wouldn't mind taking care of buisness with it.
snared_gambit 0
Well, I'm glad people like it. But, Cink, the reason you ###### me off so greatly is that I haven't had max for as long as any good weapons modeler, and you're judging me and my models like I should be putting stuff out that's perfect. Right now, I'm focusing on making really crummy handguns so I can work on good weapons later. I don't plan on releasing this weapon anyway, so right now it's just a test. BTW, about it being blocky, it's made of a rectangle and four outlines. So it's going to be a little bit blocky. I'm working low poly right now for a reason. There it is in a different render. Yes the front and rear sights are not detailed, and yes the top is not textured yet. Edited September 30, 2003 by snared_gambit
Guest SI-Prozac
When some one says u need improvement. Dont take it to serious... but try n just think about what they said that could make your model better. If it comes off snobish u just ignor it... make the model better and the be like BoooyaHH! and you make Cooler models to show off... But mark 23 no fun gun to make... i made a brick 2... just doesnt need to really be more. Yous is better :'(
Thumper1518 62
I can offer you this: Toward the rear of your gun there is some kind of line that looks like where two extruded section do not line up (but should). If both are extruded the same amount, try using the F12 key and changing the Y dimesion to 1/2 the value of the extrusion, which will center the object exactly. If they were extruded by hand, try using the extrude modifier and entering the same value for all items. Later, you can use chamfering to make the beveled edges common on HK (and other) handguns. You've got a better start than I did. Keep at it and think in terms of the parts of the weapons for modeling (receiver/frame, handle, slide, sights, hammer, barrel, trigger guard, etc). Marcinko 1
You need to to get a dictionary, and look up CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. if u think u are going to get ANYWHERE in the 3d modeling scene, u need to learn to take it. u asked for opinions i told, it's good first attempt. i'll admit, mine was krap compared to your first model. i simply gave you advice, to fix it, why do somthing half assed? where the hell do you get off telling me i made sh* models? You need to cool down, my comments WERENT snobby, they were the honest to God thruth. i tell ya what, next time i'll lie to ya and tell ya it's the best model in the world. I DONT appreciate being told off, when i offer advice, and if this is the kind of attitude u are going to take to it, i say have a nice life. i'm done with this, gl in modeling. elpatricio 0
Calm down guys.. lets not take this any further. Gambit - thats great for a first try but be prepared to take some constructive criticism when you post your first model. Cink - go easy on him, its brave of him to post his first model and its a great chance for him to improve. My first max model ever was a Mk23 like that one, probably from the same tutorial! Here it is (March 3rd 2002): Yours is better I'd say but I think mine still looks better than the RvS SOCOM!
Whisper_44 0
Prolly opening myself up on this one, but this was my first and last attempt at a 3D model before uninstalling Max.. I give much respect to all of you who endeavor to master the art of the 3d model. As you can see I tried to edit the mesh a bit, and failed miserably. Gambit - Keep at it...everyone progresses at their own rate.
snared_gambit 0
Uggh . . . Hey cink, I'm sorry. My excuse, which sucks, is that I've been up for 48 hours straight. Jeez . . . I'm going 2 get some sleep 2night. And I didn't say your models were sh** I was just stating that we all make some really crummy models when we begin. I personally love the creations you're perfecting for DYNACOMP (in case you forgot, I'm on the scripting side of it) I've been staying up 2 long coordinating my scripting crew on the campaign, and my ego is suffering from it. I finally got a few hours of sleep and noticed this. I dug a real hole for myself without knowing it. I'm sorry everyone, especially to you cink. I dunno how many of you go 48 hrs without sleeping, but it really screws your minds up. I think I saw "looks like hell" and thought, 'Cink thinks my model sucks' When I read this now, I realize all it was was real constructive critisicm. Sorry again cink. I hope we don't get 2 pissy about this in the future. BTW elpatricio, I've posted pics of a really crappy M4 and a QBZ 97 Carbine I've modeled already. This is the first model that hasn't really sucked. I'm gonna make the sight a lot better in a little while, and I'll do some tex wrk Edited September 30, 2003 by snared_gambit
STU_Snake 0
Great job, looks to me like it derived form a glock 9mm?
Chems 0
If were going for first creations, heres mine: I never did get it any good, I just went straight on to the Mortia and the first one of that sucked, the second one is the one you see in the mod.
Guest SI-Prozac
check out wow1 it on fileplanet somewhere.... and in equipment list on this site.... thats all like 12 of my first models
Swarm 0
I was going to start with a modern pistol but it seemed to me that unless you wanted a high poly model it would stay somewhat blocky so I started with the Colt 1860. Maybe its alot of Ngons (yes, thats what I used) but many parts of it made me learn alot. I think if you can make a modern 9mm pistol look good (which yours did) then I salute you Also I would rather have somewhat harsh criticism then no comments made at all about the model!
