Taking the plunge

Recommended Posts

Its, err not me...for a friend, that's right. Anyone able to point me toward an Igor tutorial or two. My...ahem...friend needs to know about the following:

choosing the map

Mission scripting

defining objectives

placing objects

placing teams and defining behaviour

pop up dialogues

adding scripted moments/spawns

writing briefings

creating/adding insertion cut scenes

closing the mission

Are there any 'all in one' tutorials for this?

Thanks guys. The official guide link in the recon section no longer works (sends me to the character editing guide below instead). Ubi.com no longer appears to host the official PDF guide either as all links to that on Yahoo are dead. I have found Igor for Dummies however, and a number of smaller scripting tutorials in the recon section..

Budgie's first mod is coimng along great so far. Got a briefing, objectives, command map, world map and have started to place objects and actors. No scripting yet.

The mission will be a simple one, where you have to attack an enemy held village, a machine gun nest and leave. Even the enemy scripting will involve simple AI routines. There is no twist, but I am hoping to do something new with the feel of GR missions. I will also scale it down - a lite version and a heavy version (based on number of actors) - so people with slow rigs can play it too.

Do I really have to know about integers and stuff when I get to scripting? I was kinda hoping I could just point and click around Igor like I've been doing to place objects(For God's sake Jim, I'm an English teacher, not a doctor!).

Oh, and if anyone hasn't heard I'm looking for a desert Buzz Gordon.
