I have been told that the GR engine wouldn't allow Iron Sights. But then one day I was using a sniper rifle and thought... When you zoom in, you get that black circular outline, and then I thought... Why can't it be used for regular rifles?

The game is programmed to show that black outline when you zoom in with a sniper rifle, so isn't it possible to apply this to an assault rifle but using a modified 'outline' in the shape of the weapon's sight?

I havn't played those two games but if you mean the kind of sight that you hit a buttion to pull up then no its not "truly" possable. Of course there are workarounds, you just have to be inventive enough to find them and always relize that they may turn out to be alittle strange

I think you mena tracing an iron sight picture onto the file in GR that creates the black circle on the edge of the screen for the sniper rifle? if so there are a few problems:

you would have to code the gun a sniper rifle, and so it would have those yellow linesmaking a + on the screen, second I belive GR actualy saves that circle as an image of only 1/4 of the circle and just puts it on the screen multiple times .... I have not actualy played at all with this part so I could be wrong.

Viper is right. There is only a texture for 1/4 of the screen that is mirrored over the other 3/4. So I guess you could do it but it wouls be the same iron sight for all weapons and you would get it at the top side of the screen as well as the bottom side. So I don't think it's a good idea.

do what I do,

find a picture that looks like if you were holding the gun,

cut out the iron sights, tape to monitor, and voila,

iron sights you have.

That reminds me of the times I would put a tiny little circular sticker in the center of the screen so I could shoot better with sniper rifles in CounterStrike.
