ReconSnake 0
Great move! Britain on Thursday became the second country in Europe to criminalize spam, that unwanted barrage of e-mail and mobile phone text messages that promise get-rich-quick schemes, cheap home loans and a better sex life. News story.
magnumkp 0
It ain't going to do diddly to the levels of email spam as all the big servers are out of uk juristiction, but text message spam will drop, but that doesn't bother me as I don't use a mobile. "The law does not however cover workplace e-mail addresses. Anti-spam proponents had been calling for a blanket law that would criminalize all forms of spam."

Urban_Tiger 0
Have you not heard of Interpol Magnum hehehe ??? If cases of spam sent to the UK are serious enough to qualify as a criminal amount (granted that would have to be a pretty stupid amount of the stuff initially lol), then suspects can be pursued through Interpols system Internationaly just like any other criminal matter concerning suspects overseas who have either fled the UK or have launched their attacks from external sources anyway!!! As long as the UK Constabularies do all the ground work and putting respective cases together as normal, then Interpol will probably happily make arrests and charge those concerned where ever they may be located where applicable. As it seems the UK system won't carry a Prison sentence and only finings too, then it makes it even more attractive for cases to be pursued globally, and certainly countries within the EU to a partial extent are covered by juristiction (sort of rofl, bit more complicated than just that but itcan be done without too much grief these days)!! That's not the issue really though. It's more down to how seriously the world is going to start to take the ongoing Spam issues as a threat or the nuisance that it truly is, and it seems that more and more people are finally getting fed up enough with it all to take it that seriously, about time too. Think most here get fed up with the constant barrage of the stuff eventually lol!! The more Nations that follow suit will hopefully see "Spamming" becoming a very undesirable past time for those concerned !!
