Pains modding video tutorials - I added this to the sticky for weapon tuts at the top of this forum.

Piggyson's website will walk you thru exporting your model from 3dsm to GR.

These two and Earl's tutorial are what got me up and crawling in 3dsm - not to mention a few questions asked here and at the platoon.

Opinions on polycounts vary. I try to keep mine below 2000 per weapon. I guess it depends on the intentions for your mod. The one I am working on started as a project for myself and a few guys I game with so it was designed with our desires & systems in mind - if you are wanting to make one that you hope everyone will end up playing you might want to keep them below 1000 for the slower systems.

Also look in the 3DSM Standard Tutorials. I did most (any that seems like it would help with simple weapon making) and when used along with Pain video tuts and afew writen tuts I managed to make a very nice weapon (IMHO).

Good luck with Max!
