aj142 0 Posted September 17, 2003 Share Posted September 17, 2003 I was playing Ghost Recon Island Thunder & it suddenly dawned on me how many great 3PS games I have now & how many are still on the way, such as Spawn (http://www.namco.com/games/spawn) - they say it’s going to be very similar to Devil May Cry). Last year and this year have been excellent for 3PS games. So now I’m wondering what was technically the first-ever third person shooter? Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Zantar45 0 Posted September 17, 2003 Share Posted September 17, 2003 I can't remember the name of the game, but I played a game from Japan on the Famitsu (SNES) and its date (in the credits) was like 1-2 (1993-94) years after the SNES was released. Major Maximum 0 Posted September 18, 2003 Share Posted September 18, 2003 hm...well, if you're comparing it to DMC, you probably mean Tomb Raider....but technically the first ever game that was not in first person and involved guns was probably a Contra game, or NARC....needless to say, both of those are more along the lines of "second person" shooters...2-player sidescroller. Third person view refers to as from behind the character or slight above. pronouns and verbs that are used to refer to something other than the speaker or addressee of the language in which they occur. example; ''So Zantar is going to drink a little Dew and eat a little Nachos, then Zantar is gonna check the GR.Net forms and maybe Zantar will reply". **Edit** I just rememebered Contra had 3rd person levels as well as 2nd person ones. Actually, you're right ~ GR is FPS obviously. I'm pretty sure wolfenstein 3-D was the very first FPS, so that's really not a mystery. It got me wondering about all of the 3PSs I have though. It's like all of a sudden we have a bunch of them. I have NO idea what the first one was. Maybe Tomb Raider, I dunno. They've come a long way in a short period of time though.
