TheFlash
I could not disagree more. GR is going strong and from what I can see picking up new players all the time. If the game is over for you do not expect everyone to follow behind. I have put the game up for awhile and now am back hard as ever. I would like to know how many kids are playing this game in comparison to 18 and above. Not saying this is not a game for kids but it sure has a large adult following. There are not many games out there that have long term playability. I for one place GR above most.

foxship
Felt the same way awhile back so I asked around and someone here said maybe I should try Ravenshield. So I went out and got it. Thats when I realized what a giant GR is,this game is so good that it makes other shooters seem like half cocked ideas that are just jumping on the GR bandwagon for the money. Stick with it, do a search for most popular mods and download someone, you wont regret it. foxship
Rocky
Thats when I realized what a giant GR is, GR has a depth you just can't code into a game with 1 and zeros. Not to take anything away from the dev team of course, it's just a unique combination of many well put together aspects, with a remarkable depth other games can only pretend to have. IMHO. Zantar45
Like I said once before, GR is like a drug. Sometimes you get tired of it and then the urge and temptation of it gets a hold of you and you gotta play. Also like a drug, some people get tired of it and move on to something else. Some come back, some don't. If you go to a 100 flavour icecream parlor... and have a Vanilla cone every time.... and then, after a little while you declare that icecream is boring and dead.... it's only because of your own lack of imagination....... I like Pistachio Ice Cream Hey! Leggo My Ice Cream Squirrel!!
PrimusPilus
Greetings fellow ghosts! I think at some point in time all of us said "enough." Then, while on the net one day, we just happened to find our fingers typing www.ghostrecon.net and checked the news, realized all the new MODs we were missing, and the excitement returned. The general consensus in what sets this game apart is twofold, the playability of the game itself, and the Modding community which has enhanced that experience. @ The Flash - I think you have come to the same realization as myself. The community, in general, is made up of "mature" individuals rather than "kids." Now, before you(the community) start overreacting, there is no slight intended. I think that in general(there are always exceptions is both age groups), a more "mature" person(meaning older) will be more set in their ways, will have a more established routine and will more often than not, stick with any project longer than someone in a more "kid" like group. This is not a shot. This just has to do with the generation in which we grew up. I've played this game since its inception and even though I did not join this community till a short time ago, I was always aware of its existance. I spent many a night downloading MOds and reading the news and the posts. This, for me is another reason why this game has stayed fresh and why I joined the community. I was looking for ways to expand my GR experience. Let's face it, not everybody will always love this game the way some of us do, and its unfortuneate you feel the way you do. In your post, you said you did not see any MODS worth downloading. I have one word for you, FROSTBITE....you wil not regret it. Burke
I'm glad this one got a bunch of positive, and non flaming replies... I should re-phrase my initial post regarding mods...I've downloaded alot, not impressed by much. WOI was fun, but like I said..not much going on in that community. I was also, not very accepted in the community for some comflicting views I had with 'bigwig's' there, but this is certainly not the place to get into it. Harntrox Mod is probably the only mod i've kept on my system for more than a few months. The scripting is great...but im not about single player missions. I'm a multiplayer guy... Then there comes the multiplayer aspect....OICW and Sa80 every game. Horrible modeled , overused and abused by most. Probably my biggest turn off. TINY MAPS + LOTS OF ZOOM ON WEAPONS = no fun I dont see the mod makers helping the situation either, filling their mods with over-modified weapons with nothing less than 5x zoom. These GR maps are tiny compared to the games i've played. Delta Force 1...ENDLESS terrain. World War Two Online...the map is ONE HALF scale of Europe...(ok ending this rant here) But yeah...I really think this game lacks in the realism department, among other things. Graphically this game is probably the best out there. My rant is over...for now I will keep my GR cd next to my computer and will await the day one of the community's 'bigger' mod makers decides to actually produce a mod where realism is the key. Please keep posting though. I'd like to hear more feedback.

MERC7
Ageed with poster.... But there are some really cool ports from SOAF that noone ever plays, rare Frostbite rooms, and 10mm made some great new maps but are never up and running. Besides, GR is turning into CStrike...lots of sophmoric, team killing, no team work BS going on. Really hoping that GR2 is under way. Looking forward to Call of Duty
Sgt. Slaughter
I agree with the first part there man. I have played on Ubi with a friend recently and there is a real lack of variety and imagination with the general public. Like you say those two weapons are predominantly used or else it's that bloody DA 4.whatever mod everyone one seems to use. However if you're looking for a realistic mod with limited zoom weapons i highly recommend Wolfsong's Swedish Forces mod. Very well made with realisim at the forefront imo. Of course finding anyone online with it or Frostbite is near impossible.
Syncopator
Besides, GR is turning into CStrike...lots of sophmoric, team killing, no team work BS going on. Of course finding anyone online with it or Frostbite is near impossible. Ye know I don't understand what the problem is - I really don't. ere at GR.net, the whole point is that you have a concentration of probably the most dedicated GR players around - all in one place....and you're telling me you can't find a game that is: a) Co-op OR b)using mods like FB?? I dont hae any trouble with either here!! In fact it is the norm. Find a few folk that are usually on at the same time as you - and build a rapport. Get someone to host or agree on somewhere to play - and start using the mods. Start working as a team. Start playing the game the way it's meant to be played. I really dont understand why ppl keep bleating about how they 'can't play the way they want' Why don't you host yourself if you have ADSL at least - or find someone who does - and post the details up for othrs to join. Over a week or 2 - you'll get a decent crowd together. It's not rocket science. Check the GAMES room and WAR JOURNAL for evidence of recent matches. You will of course see that FB and HX4 and other new missions/mods are featured. Enjoy.
Camouflage
Good game, but its definitely over. This game has been left in the dust, like many previous Tom Clancy games. It was fun, but in the end it just lacked too much. Same maps, same weapons, same everything. How many times can you kids play Embassy? Seriously? I'd like to put some faith into mods, but I really see nothing worth downloading. The only mod that I spent time playing was War Of Infamy, but even that is hardly played anymore. Anyway. I'd like to hear some feedback. Anyone feel the same way as me? Good game, but its definitely over. This game has been left in the dust, like many previous Tom Clancy games. Yup, thats what happens to every game sooner or later. It was fun, but in the end it just lacked too much. Same maps, same weapons, same everything. Well, you wont get to choose really those amazing laserbeam weapons or such, people just have to use those authentic real weapons what also SpecialOps uses. In my opinion, its good to have a tight small collection of weapons what this kind of elite unit would use in real. And what comes to game being fun, its a war simulation, its not really supposed to be fun (at least in my opinion) How many times can you kids play Embassy? Seriously? Once. After that every level is mapped in your mind and its no use to play that level again. AFter that, its all just kids playground when everyone knows each squaremeter in every level and all possible routes and tactics. I'd like to put some faith into mods, but I really see nothing worth downloading. The only mod that I spent time playing was War Of Infamy, but even that is hardly played anymore. Back in the days there were few good weapon mods which add those SpecialOPS weapons what really werent in [Ghost Recon]. Unfortunatelly its been long when I have installed those mods, I dont remember the names, but check out www.ghostrecon.net and under mods section, there are plenty of those...(most of them are not good really).. Looking forward to Call of Duty no team work??? it is all about team work and definitely no tk'ing. plus our server still gets on average 20-25 players a night playing FLAVA 1.4. and our team is pushing close to 100 active members. this game is nowhere near dead yet
Rocky
this game is nowhere near dead yet And in case you needed more proof - I can tell you from the visitor stats to this site, GR is still as popular as it ever was. Well, that's assuming visitors come here for GR and not just the good company.
McNamee
Yea, then you look at the visitor stats when GR2 comes out, people will come running back. I hope that GR2 has the same depth as 1 (as Rocky said), and is also as easily modable. But untill GR2, we still have GR which is JUST FINE
firefly2442
I truly pray that if and when GR2 comes out, they don't botch it up and take a step back with the modding potential. *cough* Raven Shield *cough* Amen to that! Would Half Life have been as popular as it was without the modding?.... no, not by a long shot. I think they developers have gotten the picture. I honestly hope so.... McNamee
im sure they would have takin into account the importance of the modding community, 50% of the success of GR is due to it....
