  1. I am also planning on getting back into modding with GRAW. not sure what it will be right now, will have to see first what can be done with the tools.

My speciality still is weapons, but i would like to something completely new for this new game.

But i do not think i will do something big all on my own, maybe i can be of service to a modding team when the time comes.

  2. i have only touched the very basics of Reactor, like rolling a ball through a brick wall.

but you are right about the render times, with GI it was going to take like 21 hours if i remember correctly. so i just turned it of to get a quick preview of the finished animation.

  3. Nothing in particular... Does GR support Normal mapping?

No it doesn't support normal maps.

Maybe this will be of any help, visit www.sourceblog.org it has a lot of tutorials on how to handpaint your textures, some on normal mapping and other stuff that you may find useful when working on 3 and 2d. But you will have to register and be active on that forum before you can access the tutorials.

Another great resource is 3dbuzz.com, you will need to register but it has tons of video tutorials on 3d modeling, map editors like Hammer & UnrealEd and Photoshop aswell as vids on other sides of game-development.

  4. Any more goodies? Also, do you have any good tutorials that can be used for GR?

not at this time, maybe next week! i am currently working on my version of the MR-C from GRAW and a little side thingy....

what kind of tuts are you looking for? for tutorials on how to make weapons, i highly recommend the video tutorials by Ichi, although not intended for use with GR, they will show you all the basics of polymodeling. just do a google on Ichi video tutorials and you will find them somewhere. they are all over the net.

if you need anything else, please let me know and i will try to find you what you are looking for.

  5. sad news, but i do not think it has anything to do with marketing.

Bad news is almost never good for business, so if it could be avoided they would have done so.

so....that leaves the development side of it. If the devs at RSE and GRIN aren't 100% proud of the product at its current state and they want so more time to make it like the game they invisioned at the beginning, i say go right ahead. we will all benefit from it in the end.

    my 2 cents.

  6. Thanks again Madmex_TRT and M95-Sniper that you found out about this! Translation from the site www.graw.nl:

Q: When does the demo for the Xbox360 and PC come out?

Bouke Loohuis: At this moment it looks like that the Xbox360 demo comes out around the release date (March 9) and the PC demo at the end of February.

Jolly good news I would say! Howcome the Dutch know this before the Americans??? Man thats next week! Whooohaaaaaaaaa!!! Standing with both feet on the ground though, had too get over too many sadbacks regarding the sequal/threequal of GR.

Oh, and also the spec of the hardware looks like a bit downtuned (minimum specs offcourse!):

    + OS : Windows 2000 / XP

    + Processor : 2 Ghz

    + Memory : 512MB

+ Graphics card : DirectX 9.0c compatible card with 128MB memory and  + PixelShader 2.0

    + DVD Drive : 4 speed

    + Sound : DirectX 9.0c compatible

+ Available space on your harddisk : 5GB

to give some insight, Bouke Loohuis isn't someone who works at Ubi here in Holland, it is the guy who asked the question.

i sure hope this is true, but there is no mention on the website itself who is answering the questions other then some GRAW developer, nor are they saying it is coming from Ubi Nederland.

So i have my doubts but sure hope this is true.

on the other hand it could be true, the people behind the website are also the people behind The Party, a big LAN party here in holland which will be all about GRAW this year with sponsoring by Ubi NL so they might have been talking to some rep about the upcoming demo.

  7. the Crye modular caseless carbine is a design study by

    Crye Associates http://www.cryeassociates.com/index.html

If you want info about a real weapon look at the  Heckler & Koch G11 in the web or on this site:

    http://world.guns.ru/assault/as42-e.htm

There is a magazine on the photo. The weapon was only testet I think not in wide production.

    Another desgin concept I found:

    http://bonez18b.deviantart.com/

yes, i know it isn't a real weapon used by armed forces yet, but i want to make a version of my own and need to know what the magazine looks like and how it is attached to the weapon itself so i can try to make a custom reloading animation.

  8. In order to recreate this weapon myself, i am looking for some info.

How do you reload that weapon and what does the magazine look like seperated from the main body of the weapon.

I have been looking at some of the GRAW footage but it doesn't show the reload sequence in detail.

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

  9. By now we know what almost every active member on this forum thinks of the new Ghost Recon.

But just now i was thinking what the man himself, Tom Clancy, thinks of this new game.

Although he is no longer a part of Redstorm, the game still bears his name.

So my question is, is there any word on what mr. Clancy thinks of what has become of Ghost Recon 3?

  10. yeah, they are a great resource for textures.

also really like the 'making of' features.

They have some great products on their website. I just got the Shorts Drawer 2005 DVD which i won in last months competition of 3dcreative magazine. Full of cool animations.

And if the texture DVD's are a bit too expensive for you, check out 3d creative magazine over at 3dcreativemag.com , a magazine released once a month filled with tutorials, interviews and great galleries and all for just 4 dollars.
