thank you for your suggestions San. Hopefully more people will give their suggestions so i can take them all into consideration. in the meantime here is something new, worked some more on the window and i have added some more stuff so you can get a picture of the different textures i am working on.
-
One question for you all, In what kind of file format ( RSB, JPG, TGA or something else ) would you like the textures and also what file size would you prefer, 512x512 or another? will have some new ones ready soon!
-
Give me some time to come up with more and i will release them.
-
yeah, i had the same thought while i was working on some new textures. So i made 2 new versions of the same window, just not sure which one to use.
-
Thanks guys, i am glad you like them. I am sure having fun making them, you just gotta love Photoshop.... here is a new one i made today: Having so much fun i am actually thinking of making some texture-packs so other modders can enjoy them as well, but that is just a thought for now.
-
Do not worry about that 'tiled' look of the texture, for bigger walls i will make some other ones, this is especially ment for a short wall, maybe indoors. I am currently working on some other variations of that texture, like in the picture below.
-
lol, that is exactly why i started this building/scene, to see if my texture skills will do for something else than weapons. Also made a new wall texture, -edit- picture is on the next page-
-
I was thinking the same, San. but i will have to try to come up with some low poly stairs. Right now i am working on some the general layout and some props for the map. Also have been working on some textures i might use in the scene, here is one.

yesterday i was watching a new trailer for Brothers in Arms, Earned in Blood. the last thing i saw was that it will be released in October. today i was browsing 1up.com when i found this little article: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143154 which states Earned in Blood will come out in september, so i immediately checked the Gearbox and Brothers in Arms websites but couldn't find any confirmation. Lets hope it is true, can't wait for this game!!

i have no idea what you just said, but i guess you like it so far......
-
Thank you for the tips, Deleyt! I first started making the building to test my texturing skills on something else than weapons, but immediately started working on more than just a building. Basicly what i have in mind is a one street scene with at most 5 or 6 buildings for some street warfare. but who knows, it may turn into something bigger for GR or another FPS. My game-plan for the moment is to optimize the stuff when the scene is ready and texture it, if that works to my satisfaction i will have decide to turn it into a map or use it as a scene. One thing i will be focusing nex
-
why so?..... from what i have read so far, you can make maps with polycounts up to 50.000. Right now the scene stands at almost 5400 and i wasn't planning on making it the size of several streets, 1 at most for now.
-
maybe.... i still have a lot to learn before i can even think of releasing a map. another little update:
-
yeah, thanks to our great history we have some very nice buildings here!
-
1001freefonts.com is also a good resource for fonts.
-
true. the roof is very basic at the moment. Right now i do not have any fixed plans to make it accessable to the player, so it would be a shame to spend more polys on it. As for the real life building, i do not have a clue. I saw it while on a sailing boat waiting for a bridge to open, but it was ready for demolition. And it is located in the industrial area of Vlissingen ( city in Holland ) so it probably was a warehouse, it also had a very nice area at the waterfront which i also want to model.
-
No booleans were used in the process of making this building.... @X69RZX, creating rooms is still a long way ahead for me, right now this is just a level making excercise. but who knows, if everything goes according to plan i might turn it into a map. little progress i made today:
-
While on holiday last week, i saw this old building and i immediately thought i should try to recreate it in Max. Took some pics of it and started modeling it today and now i am looking for some comments or critique for all you map-makers. Eventually i want to texture it and make some more buildings. Please do not hold back!

that picture was taken at the game convention where WK is right now.

just 3 cars in the demo with one US made car, can't come up with the name right now, but the other cars are the Jag E-type and a Lotus
-
Looking forward to hear other peoples opinion about it, i am really not sure what to think of it at this moment.
-
lol! The one in the render is 1606 polygons.
