And now for something completely different.
i thought it was about time to show you what i have been working on lately. In a couple of days i will show you a new weapon model but now it is time to show you my very first vehicle i am working on, the M706.
i hope you like it!
C&C is always welcome.........

Finally i made something i am happy about.
Here are some of the early logo's i made for this contest:

And here is my entry:

damn you, ronin!!! i might as well ask Photoshop to marry me with all the time i am spending to come up with something that looks any good.

-
Dang! looks like i will not be able to join the chat.....

Make sure to ask if they plan to release some modding tools besides the map-editor at launch.
More questions:
1. what is the biggest improvement you could make with the time extension.
2. minimum specs.
3. we know we will be able to add attachments to the weapons, will there be a similar system to create our own uniforms.
4. Is this the first in a long range of Tom Clancy games you will be involved with.
5. Do you still think you will be able to beat the gr community in the GR.net vs GRIN match.
-
Will be looking forward to it, although after reading what you and the rest who visited RSE already said about it, my mind is already at ease.
God, i wish they did something like that for us europeans!!!!
I am sure GRIN would be more than willing to give you a show around their studios and possibly a sneak peak at GRAW for PC if you asked nicely.
i'll bet they get requests like that every day.

Congrats Pagey!

Here it is, it was made by someone in the CS community. Can't remember who it was but it showed one way to UV map a model.
please right click and save: UVmap tutorial

yep i break all my models down into peices, and compile them back together threw uv unwrap and editble mesh.
scaling is done using a checker pattern texture. I try to scale the UV maps so the pattern all looks even or depending on what i want more detailed.
natsanwa, i have a little video that shows the method Prozac described here, maybe that will help. let me know if you want it.

Due to the volume of information, we are going to put it out in pieces. During my long weekend, I plan to transcribe the interview. It then needs to be run by RSE and Ubi for approval, then we code it up and get it out to you. Start looking for stuff mid to end of next week.

Will be looking forward to it, although after reading what you and the rest who visited RSE already said about it, my mind is already at ease.
God, i wish they did something like that for us europeans!!!!

I did try it and one thing that came to mind was; "hey, don't i already have this game, it is called Toca2"
-
anyone else here tried that Honda Civic demo they release a couple of days ago?
just one car and track but it looks very similar to 2.

I don't think there is anyone to blame here.
It is something that comes with the terroritory when you are a modder.
A lot of people have their own dreams about how the game should look and play,
but not everyone knows how to turn their dreams into reality. So when they see
a modder whoes work they really like, it is an easy desicion to ask them to make
the dream a reality/mod/character/weapon/mission
In the beginning these emails and pm's are really flattering but after a while they
can become a annoyence because most them just say "i like your work, can you
make this?"
But people need to realise that modders spend a lot of time researching before
they start a project so they have guidelines to work with. And it can become very
complicated when you have to redesign parts every week because of all the requests
coming in.
If you really want to influence a modder, give constructive feedback on their work
that is why they post screenshots of the work they make on these forums.
And this is not to ban all requests, but please bare in mind modders can't always
say yes because of time constraints and other factors that might influence their work,
like work, family and school. Try to respect their desicion and keep giving them
feedback on the work the modders show so they can keep improving and give you more
to enjoy in the game.
my take on this situation
I hope all Eskwaad needs right now is a little break so he can come back to
impress us again with his amazing work.

congrats SteelHack!

Awesome news swartsz, real happy that you and esKwaad are going through with the project. Hope your G36C will be in it.

Yes, i am planning on using the G36C for the mod.
Oh and what's BFS?BFS is short for Blackfoot Studios, i do some freelance work for them.
At least this project will let you end your GR1 modding career with a bang (no pun intended).lol, exactly what Eskwaad and me were thinking, hopefully GRAW will provide me with another 3 years of modding fun.
-
sweet! thanks for letting me know Commando!
Here is also a little update on the mod that has been discussed here a while back. I had a long conversation with Eskwaad on monday and we both expressed the desire to make it happen, so it is still alive!!!!
We are both working on some new things, but for me it will be the last thing i do for Ghost Recon for a while. I also got some feedback on my website from someone who works in the industry and it comfirmed to me that something is missing. Something that shows my own style of modeling and texturing instead of remaking the real thing in 3d.
So after this mod is done, i am going to take a step back and work on some personal projects for which i am currently developing good ideas and sketches.
Do not worry, i will also continue to make weapon models but most of them will be for BFS and not for any mods i am personally involved with.
Hopefully this will improve my overall skills, so i can come back in full force once the modding tools for GRAW.
ps. once we both feel we got something that looks awesome in our eyes, Eskwaad and me will show you some progress shots of our little project.

they sure are....

everything i have posted lately has a polycount below the 2000 mark.those G36s are very very fine (but I'd love to see the standard - German Bundeswehr - model with the red-dot sight over the scope)Have to finish these first, but i will see what i can do within the set polylimit.
Oh swartsz, just thought I'd let you know that I'm using your site as an example of what a good website looks like tomorrow in my Dreamweaver class so nice work with it too.cool! let me know what everyone in your class thinks of it, always appreciate good feedback.

Looking great as always mate

Let me know if you need any reference of the real thing for texturing.
Already have a directory full with images of the real thing you gave me a long time ago, used them to model it....
I need to pick what I model better.ÂGreat work as always, far better than mine at least.
Don't let me stop you, m8! mine is far from perfect.
Stop being so good, you make us all look bad.I can't!!! must.....model......more...... ( read: it is too addictive )
ps. also made the normal G36, which is now available at my website....

edit - Also forgot to mention the polycounts. The G36C, without the scope and grip, is 1856 and the G36 is 1664. But they still need to be optimized.

Here is a little preview of what i am working on at the moment.

First weapon model

as you can see in the picture below, the front of the vehicle is completely square.
you can also see i still have a lot of work to do before i can call it finished.
