  1. I cannot play online because my university blocked the following ports for security reasons

Bottom line is if the university are blocking the Gamespy ports there is not a lot else you are going to be able to do about it.

(have you tried joining in one of the 3rd party VPN games, as they would be on different port's)

Have they said why they block those ports and won’t open them like they have the others?

they said security reasons. Are you talking about hamachi?

They told me people connect sucessfully to gamespy to play BF2 on campus. I looked at the activity on the cpromt and i actually make a connection to gamespy but then i just get dropped and get the firewall error message

  2. I need an answer. No one has been able to help, University Firewall

I called my friend who works at Geek squad along with the rest of the squad, university network admin, forums everywhere, computer science majors at my school. No one has been able to help me.

I cannot play online because my university blocked the following ports for security reasons:

    the following are not open:

    Local Ports

    UDP 15250

    UDP 13139

    UDP 15250

    Remote Ports

    TCP 6667

    out of:

    > Local Ports

    > > UDP 15250

    > > UDP 13139

    > > UDP 15250

    > >

    > > Remote Ports

    > > UDP 15250

    > > TCP 80

    > > TCP 6667

    > > UDP 13139

    > > UDP 27900

    > > UDP 27901

    > > TCP 28910

    > > TCP 29900

    > > TCP 29901

    > > UDP 29910

    > > TCP 29920

What now? Seriously this isn't even funny. I waited 5 years for this!

  3. Use of more common ports. People who are behind a corporate or university firewall can't connect to Gamespy server. These are the ports that my university won't enable for security reasons:

Out of the ports listed on readme file, the following are not open due to security issues:

    Local Ports

    UDP 15250

    UDP 13139

    UDP 15250

    Remote Ports

    TCP 6667

They network admin told me that everyone on campus plays online games and that nobody has needed these ports for that purpose anyway.

    PLEASE HELP :g_withgrin:

  4. ya the best way to upgrade is mem, its cheaper than everything else (usually) and it often helps quite abit. if this game is very heavy on the GPU well unless they fix it then i wont be playing much after i beat it. its a chore to play now as it is and its all new to me.

I can't even play on MP because of the ports.

  5. ur psu doesnt really come into play

His PSU will come into play, though, if he buys the power hungry X1800XT. Then, a PSU upgrade would be in order.

Moetzer, I've been telling you to go to 2GB of RAM all week, and you're still asking? Don't trust me? ;);):)

    im getting:

    500w aspire psu, 1 gig ram, x1800xt

Is there a x1800 crossfire edition? I can't find it anywhere

  6. Hey guys. I got a couple of questions for you:

What are the pros and cons of going with a x1800xt or a x1900xt?

Is the extra money worth it for the 1900xt?

Why do my frame rates drop like crazy after going around a corner? I was playing fear getting around 60fps on a x850xt but everytime i went around a corner they dropped to 19. Whats up with this?

Also should I get a 500w, 550w or a 600w PSU since i'm getting the card and my psu only outs out 420w. Thought maybe I could do some crossfire later on.

  7. 1.- Dedicated server

2.- Use of more common ports.

    3. All Seeing Eye Support

    4. More Weapons

    5. More maps

    6. Fixed glitches and bugs

    7. Fix Framerate issues x850xt doesnt seem to be enough

8.- Fix some soundcard bugs soundblaster live 24 giving me a lot of static

9 and 10= MAIN CONCERN IS NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY ON MP DUE TO THE CRAPPY SELECTION OF PORTS GAMESPY USES :g_withgrin:

  8. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/tomclanc...tml?sid=6149136

While the PC version of GRAW offers the most impressive and expansive campaign, the extreme system requirements and multiplayer headaches make this tactical shooter feel rougher around the edges than it should.

The Good: Campaign is exciting and challenging, even at normal difficulty; hardcore tactical shooting experience; massive, extremely detailed environments; real-time 3d tactical map is useful and flexible; amazing graphics and presentation....

The Bad: ...if your computer has a ton of horsepower; inexcusable bugs and oversights in multiplayer implementation; ai sometimes leaves something to be desired.

  9. Yes, it sucks that if you dont have a x1000 series card or nvidia equivalent the game is choppy and the garage mission kills performance and all that. Also in my case the only way i can play multiplayer will be through hamachi.

All we have to do is WAIT for grins patch and nvidia and ati to release drivers with fixes and optimizations for the game and. Also dedicated servers like [GR] would be perfect along with ASE support. There were 4 patches on the first GR if im not mistake so don't worry and stop hating this is just part of the process.

This is a good time to figure out what needs to be upgraded.

    :g_withgrin:

  10. i know exactly what you mean. If you have a 256 card then an extra gig of ram should stabilize your FPS. I saw my cpu light blinking during these parts you talk about. I'm waiting for newegg to send me the extra gig plus if your mobo has dual channel it would help even more i suppose

  11. This from my campus network admin:

Out of the ports listed below, the following are not open:

    Local Ports

    UDP 15250

    UDP 13139

    UDP 15250

    Remote Ports

    TCP 6667

As we discussed, we will not be able to open these ports for this

application. However, I'm willing to try and find a workaround with you.

Can you try some tunneling or proxy service?

What Is This Tunneling Or Proxy Service? How Does This Work?

  12. hey guys i dont know if ur still having the problem i found this on another forum and it works After typing in each field of the registration screen hit enter after each one to solidify what you've typed. Then hit register once all of that is done... it's a poor input management system which they will hopefully fix in a patch, but it works like that for now.

I followed those instructions several times, but it gives me errors. Turns out, I created three profiles thru the GRAW MP. I loaded gamespy arcade and logged in with one, and saw the other two there also in arcade. (all three with same email addy). I have opened the ports after the "firewall" error. Still get it. and others. Hitting enter made the accounts, but the in game browser wouldnt connect me.

im with you on that one no fix for it yet. Are you connecting through school network?
