  1. Sorry if this has been posted, but I have not seen it anywhere.

    Some interesting tidbits in it:

    http://www.gamesradar.com/us/pc/game/previ...&sectionId=1001

We got hands-on with the shooter that made us feel like geniuses for buying a video card instead of an Xbox 360

Looking just as good or better than its console counterpart (depending on your hardware), GRAW looks, feels and controls nearly exactly like the recent Rainbow Six: Lockdown. This is not an arcadey shooter. You'll need to spend a great deal of time mastering a complex set of controls: crouching, sprinting, diving to prone ... and that's just you. We had three other teammates, drones and air-strikes to command. GRAW becomes a mash-up of the Battlefield 2 Commander slot with a dash of Full Spectrum Warrior, shoved into a traditional FPS. Sound hard? It is. Learn to command your team efficiently or you'll be toast.
  2. Check this out:

    http://media.putfile.com/Ageia-powered-smoke

I took the smoke video from the Multiplayer video, and slowed it to half the speed.

Notice the smoke, as it rises, it appears to curve around the bricks on the right.

Is the smoke in GRAW particle based, and/or Ageia powered?

For an Ageia demonstration of what I mean, check this out:

    http://www.ageia.com/press/physx_carwash_v...carwash_fog.exe

Obviously the Smoke effects in GRAW won't be as heavy as these, but notice how it bends around the curves of the car, etc.

    What do you guys think?

  3. I don't think the game uses over 512MB of texture memory.

And it certainly doesn't support any DirectX10 extensions, so I think Bo meant the PPU card...

Is the smoke with the PPU particle based?

ppu 512 version? you are joking! hes talking about the vid.card! w

I wasn't talking about a 512MB PPU card, I was talking about video memory. Notice I said texture memory.

  4. EA is milking BF2 so badly.

BF2142 looks EXACTLY the same, except for some Mechwarrior type things, and invisibility. Basically, a bunch of lame stuff. I am not impressed in the least.

The graphics engine looks exactly the same, it looks like a BF2 mod, but they are charging full price for this?

Man, BF2 was a decent game, but all these expansions, and 2142, its starting to become a joke.

  5. I will be there this year.

If Bo is gonna be there I would really like to ask a few questions about Ghost Recon if its not out yet :)

The Kentia Hall is downstairs, its kinda where the cheapy stuff is, but their booth is noticably larger than it was last year.

  6. I believed that Bo mentioned the poly count somewhere... but I can't remember...

I would also like to know any advanced features that this game supports... ... dynamic lighting? Displacement maps? I know it supports HDR... but I wonder if its FP16 HDR...

I know that bump and normal mapping are in.

If its FP16 HDR, that means us 7800GTX 512 users won't get AA + HDR :( Until G80 that is :D

  7. I have heard alot of people complaining about the music that is in the console game... supposoly it has some arcadish music while in the chopper and stuff... maybe that is the reason for the low sound score?

    EDIT:

I also read on another review that they said that the A.I. was horrible, yet here they say its great? meh, who knows...heh

    Gaco over at nvnews.net translated:

    Graphics: 8/10

    Sound: 7/10

    Gameplay: 9/10

    Value: 9/10

    Overall: 9/10

    Pros:

Fabulous atmosphere, Well-balanced weapons, impressive graphics and sound. Believable AI.

    Cons:

    Uncommitted voiceacting.

    Conclusion:

"Advanced Warfighter is fantastic game. There are great attention to detail, the tactic is ruthless and the atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. When an orange sunset hangs uneasy in the background and my ghosts zig-zags down through another mexican residential area with the weapons highly raised and the bullets whistling past my ears, then I'm convinced that it doesn't get much better in relation to games. The year's first really significant Xbox360-game has landed, at least for me."

  9. We all know that the console version is gonna be a different game, from a graphics, physics, and gameplay standpoint.

My question is, how different do you think the game is going to be from a gameplay standpoint? Obviously the first different will be the 1st person perspective.

My reason for asking, is, the only gameplay footage we have from the game is from the console version. Is it worth watching these videos to get a good indicatior of what the gameplay in the PC version will be like?

I notice alot of things I like about the gameplay, and a few others I don't necessarily like, but the tactical part seems pretty good.

And moves like rolling and diving, will these be present in the PC verion? The rolling move looks kinda interesting.

  10. If UBI said May 2006 is the release date for GR:AW PC, that makes sense now. I don't think UBI would release GR:AW PC before E3. Since it is the biggest "show-and-tell" around, I doubt UBI would want to go there with nothing big to "show and tell".

At the earliest I'd speculate GR:AW PC is due out 3rd week of May 2006.

    silent_op

I will be at E3 this year. I will make sure to take footage, pictures, etc :D

Is Bo going to be there?
