  1. Rant Start. Game or Simulation? To get where some folks want to be realisum-wise the developers have to move from a game developing mentality to simulation developing mentality. This takes the mass market appeal factor out of the equation... it also means the price would likely go way up for the end user. How "real" do we want it to be? Do you want to walk or run for an hour or two from your insertion point to get to the objective? Do you really want to feel the grit and fear of combat, I don't think I really do? The technology to bring a true simulation of ground war fighting doesn't exist yet in my opinion, you can get closer with a flight sim but it still lacks the true fear of death. In the end it's all about the fear, the fear of getting killed. The fear of your buddies or even innocent bystanders getting killed. Instilling that fear is the real hurdle in simulating realisum. P.S. Let's not forget the gore factor... A true simulation would be quite messy... lots of dead things of all ages, shapes, and sizes. In various states of char and togetherness as well... easier to simulate in a game than fear is but still a challange. Rant end.
  2. I didn't play GRAW online... don't know why, just didn't. I used the M8 in all it's possible variations in SP... I also run the MRC when I'm feeling froggy.

We all know there is a conspiracy in the super secret admin only forums to keep kretzj and others like him from posting. Rumor has it Rocky killed JFK too... but you didn't hear that from me. And while we're at it... Why don't you guys come clean about what you did in Roswell.
  4. I'm am a big fan of the idea of realisum... But... I'm also looking to play a game... So while body hoping isn't a realisum feature it does add to the play factor. I think it's also time we start to be honest with ourselves as well.... Until the Hola-Deck (or is it Holo-Deck) from Star Trek is invented the FPS style game is always going to be more play than real. IMHO
  5. I my have just answered my own question... If you can body hop, I think you're less likely to use the cross com satalite view thing to issue orders. Allowing full body hoping makes it sort of moot. May be way off with this though.

I have been trying to finish missions using only my team members and I have noticed that controling them via the cross com camera thingy is so close to just hoping into that players body that I have to ask why isn't that, body hoping, available. Is there a technical reason? Can it be enabled via a mod? Word to the wise... if you try this, using only team members that is, be prepared for some frustrations. The rebels tend to be able to get the drop on them (the ghosts) in hardcore mode. My guys are tough though they can usually dispatch said rebel but do take near leathel damage in the process.
  7. Is the word "stole" a bit strong? Once you posted the mod up on a public website didn't you effectivly release it into the public domain making it technically shareware? In a way it's kind of flattering don't you think? Anyway... just my 2 cents.
  8. hmmm.... very strange. I didn't see a single woman in the entire game. That's a bit strange in this day and age.
  9. Hi All, Don't throw rocks at me or anything for saying this please. I think the comparison to [GR] as the gold standard is growing old. I think GRAW:2 is better. I may be in the minority here but I never play [GR], it doesn't live on my hard disk and hasn't for quite a while.

  11. Thanks for the help but I'm not being clear. In the group_manager.xml there is a grid or spreadsheet listing the different rebel soldiers and classes. Some have mods... how can I give them multiple mods in that format? That's my question.
  12. I wonder how you would add it to the area where the veriables are defined.
  13. Is it possbile to have multiple weapon mods in the group_manager.xml? Example: I want a rebel to have both an aimpoint and silencer. If so... what's the format? do I just list them or do they need to be seperated by anything? Or, do I add another weapon_mod column? Cheers, CW
  14. I finally have this working. I changed the world_info.xml for the misson and all is working for me now. seems changes I make to the ghost_templates.xml file are not read by the game.
  15. I have same issue... I am going to try changing the name of the ghost_templates.xml file and change the pointer in the group_manager.xml to match and see what happens.
  16. I'm not sure but I think you're having the same issue I'm having... is ghost_templates.xml the file you're changing? Is this the file we should be editing to make equipment changes for Ghosts in the SP missions?
  17. I opened the file and it was a bit crazy. How can I tell what guy or class of guy is in what level. I've been looking through the level files but still don't see an obvious corrolation.
  18. Hi All, I've been cutting my teeth on modding the past few weeks. Nothing worked until today. Instead of trying to get the Ghillie suit working via the ghost_templates.xml I made a change in the world_info.xml for mission01 and it worked. I started changing the ghost_templates.xml here and there, trying to change camo and weapons... no matter what changing this files does nothing for me. Any ideas? According to everything I have read I have the file in the proper location and I am making changes that are discussed here on the forums. The camo for instance... from what I have read it looks like you change the path in ghost_templates.xml and you get new camo, the proper text just needs to be copied from one place in the file to another. I have listed some data below to help you better understand my settings. context xml change: <script base="data" exec="Menu/Menu" editor="false" language="bp_weapons_pack_v1.0"/> location of file: Local\bp_weapons_pack_v1.0\lib\managers\xml\ghost_templates.xml System: Dell XPS 410 - latest bios applied 2GB Ram BFG Ageia - latest driver installed Readon X1950 512 mb - latest driver installed 2 disks in Raid 0 Windows XP pro - all latest patches Download Version of GRAW 2 patched to latest version 1 dog, two cats, and a gold fish.
  19. That is a good point... I dream of weapon modding and modeling but the reality is time just may not be there.
  20. Yes, I have the extractor. Used it trying to make the Ghillie suite work... never got that going. I am able to use Brettzies mod (at least on mission 1) with no problem so I assume I should be able to do this.

Hi All, I find myslef short on time these days, I'm always busy at the office and we have a new baby in the house so instead of looking for the files I'm just going to ask and hope someone can point me to em. In short, I'd like to change up the weapons the AI uses in the campaigne. What file or files should I be looking for. Eample - instead of the AI having the G36 in mission 1 I want the all to have the M-8 or even the rx4. Thanks in advance! Cheers, CW
