    If that's really a normal map,I'm confused, because as far as I know from other games, normal maps usually contain way more colors since you can use the RGB channel in a normal map! Have a look at this video, please! :huh:

  3. Hello, n00b here...

    I've modded a few of the weapons .xml file to the way I like 'em, but I'm looking for more flexiblity in the inventory weapons selections.... here's what i'd like help on if someone knows how to get it to work...

    I'd like the weapons in the first (primary) tab to be displayed and selectable (useable) in the secondary tab, and vis-a-versa.... so that the Scar-L , Scar-H, etc. are in the secondary tab with the MP5, M8-C, etc.... and so on...

    can anyone help me out with this? Please...

    Basically you want to be able to use for example 2 SCAR's with one being in the primary and another one being in the secondary slot? :huh: Why that? :blink:
  4. I think the shinny problem is related to the bump maps, not the skin. Though if someone comes up with a solution, please share.

    You mean, the bump maps are used for the bump effect AND the specular mapping? Hmm....but wouldn't the result look a bit different then? I've been using specular mapping combined with bump mapping in 3DSMax4/6 as well as Poser 4/5/6 and I think it looked different - even without changed values then again I'm not familiar with the diesel engine.
  5. Just a word on the June Patch and add on.

    A lot of you are expecting god knows what that will be fixed and added in this June Download.

    The Team can only do so much in the time that is available, with requests for other things that are more urgent in the process, have to take priority.

    Every thing that you want will not be in the June Patch as Ubisoft has already stated.

    Some things yes but others no.

    I suspect the origninal list as it were has changed a few times already, so what we get we get and more in July and August.

    The main area for the devs I would say is to make the existing game stable on as many PC variations as possible, and improve what already has been done, then and only then things will be added.

    This has and always puts things back, you must remember this when getting all excited for the Download.

  6. Does anyone know how to get rid of the latex look that comes with modifying the textures? Do you have to creat MipMaps, or add noise to the textures? Any help would be great, thanks.

    I think that's handled by specular maps, however couldn't find the necessary file/s 'til now! :(

Well you would think it would be common sense releasing the dedis before the mp patch, I mean whats the point of spending so much time working on a mp patch when you can't even play it on lag free servers? Sadly, I would have said it would have been common sense to release the dedis with the game itself and look where that ended up? So sadly, I wouldn't go with common sense.

    PS: I got your message. I'll work on it, but don't have a timeline to give you.

    Honestly I was just too lazy to remove it from my tree.

    Actually the flashlight idea was intented to be part of the multiplayer mode (Player vs. Player for example TDM, DM, CTF, HH etc.) - this way we don't have to mess around with the AI.

    And about the timeline - there's plenty of time so don't worry! ;)

    BTW: I love your mods & ideas! Keep up the good work! :grin1:

    Do you think, it's possible to make the light of the SCAR's flashlight actually blind people (like a flashbang) once you aim the flashlight at them? I mean, there is a "limited" blind effect already inside the game which works with HDR, so I don't think it shouldn't be that hard to accomplish something like that! :) (BTW: Please check your PM's!)

    That would be nice. Imagine the gameplay on a custom made night mission map! :grin1:

    For example:

    One team has to protect an object or a location and needs to patrol the area while the other team has the objective to take it. Both of them are equipped with SCAR-F's (F = flashlights) or maybe the defender team is equipped with G36's + flashlights etc.! The attacker team sneaks up on the defender team, suddenly pops up out of nowhere, blinds them and shoots! Now that would definitely add some realistic, tactical & stealth layer to the gameplay of the multiplayer, don't you think? ;)

    Let's say with a possible expansion pack, you'll be able to even add not only day time light settings (sunset, sunrise, night, bright sunlight, dimished sunlight etc.) but also weather conditions to a map (from sandstorms to rain and from a heavy storm to snow etc.). What a "nice" atmosphere that would be! Especially if they add flashbangs & optional natural view restrictions (dense fog) to the game.

    A nice cloak-and-dagger situation, if you ask me. Maybe that could even be an additional game mode (let's call it "cloak-and-dagger" and yeah, I know it's a very "original" name :D) in which you only have access to weapons suitable for such a situation as well as the drone (but this time with night vision or thermal vision and totally manually controlable in terms of camera zoom, camera angle, height, etc.)! :)

  10. Ive been trying to remove the grenade launcher and silencer as kinda of a kit restriction mod. I can get them to not appear in the list as the server, but the clients can still get them. The problem I have is when I give someone the file and they load the game, the game crashes. For some reason it still calls up for the weapon files. I think there is something in a .dxe script file that needs to be changed.

    If you are wanting to do this for the Domination mode. A dirty way to do it would be to just go into the .XML for the weapons and jack the price up to the millions where the players could never buy them. :P

    I think he was talking about only showing the reticule in FPS like in in the [GR] (could be wrong though)! ;)
  11. nice, so i guess that means it's done? i wonder when we will see it!

    As I said it's going to be out Friday the 16th of June NOT this friday (unfortunately I couldn't change the subject line - Rocky, please be so kind and do this for me in order to prevent any kind of misunderstandings)! :(

    Still, we at least now have an appr. date about when the "patch" is probably going to come out (either official or non-official)! :D

Announced by my fellow CM Ubi_Marc, the "June Patch" (although I still prefer to call it ADD ON) will make it's first appearence at the North Con which is a german LAN tourney sponsored by Ubisoft and taking place from June 16 to June 18! . Ubi is going to exclusively release preview versions of the "Patch" to all the visitors of the North Con before this thing of beauty is going public! :)

    Well I guess that means it won't take long from then, 'til the Patch is going public! :)

  13. The XBox version has an ability to modify ROE at will. Why the PC version does not is beyond me.

    Probably because GRIN tryed to establish an AI that would choose the ROE all by itself and they nearly managed to do that, but they obviously forgot that a Teamleader also has to issue ROE based orders if it seems appropriate (for example on recon missions) or maybe they simply didn't have the time to implement ROE's! :)
