  1. it isnt dead, why then there is Rainbow six: vegas coming on next-gen a la RB6 originale.

it jsut fanboys, saying "dead"   uts dead, when no Rb6 is coming anymore..to me  :shifty:

I second that. Give 'em a chance with R6V! :) Yes, Lockdown was a bad joke but that doesn't mean every future RB6 will be like that. Humans tend to make mistakes but the good thing is most of them are going to learn from these mistakes and correct them - that's what makes them humans. Most of the Dev's / Publisher's are no different! ;)

Plus Montreal has a HOLY JUMPING MOTHER OF GOD good reputation when it comes to create games! I say the glas is half full as long as I'm not totally convinced of the opposite! :)

  2. Well, I think agentkay already explained the meaning! :)

After a hands-on session with the first five single-player missions of their latest game, we think that the Ghosts deep, inherent stupidity may not be a single-player game killer anymore.

Meaning:  No more stupid AI like in the other versions.

Don't tell me you had any doubts! ;)
  4. Since all the people around here already said everything I could say....

*Raises Glass* To Grin..live long and prosper! :grin2:

*also raises his glass* Q'apla! ;)

Hey, what about a special GRIN day after release? Everyone could start a server with names containing the word GRIN (in caps) to show off their support to the dev's? Wouldn't that be a nice idea? :)

  5. BTW:

Did Bo ever mention if controllers (for example PS2, Logitech etc.) will be supported in GRAW? Don't get me wrong, I still prefer to play with my mouse & keyboard (I'm a 100% PC gamer) but I'm sure there are others who would like to use their controller or even this Track IR device.

Speaking about that Track IR headtracker thing - I heard it only controls the camera inside the supported games, but wouldn't GRAW in that case be a lot harder to control then if GRIN would add this feature to the game after the release? In my opinion it would be different if only the camera would be controlled by Track IR and the mouse would still be used to control the weapon.

What do you think about this (got a few PT's from members at the official forums regarding that thing and studied a few websites related to that) or do you even have some experience with this Track IR stuff? Would it make sense to you to add such a (optional) feature some day after the release or would you consider something like that as pointless for GRAW? :)

  6. Since there are only a few wallpapers for GRAW but none directly dedicated to the PC version, I spent some time with Photoshop today. It's nothing that spectacular, but I hope you'll like it, though. Unfortunately since my C Partition crashed the day before yesterday, I lost all the raw material (months partially even years of work gone within a second) and so at the moment I can't come up with something better than that.

I'll also upload this one to my deviantart.com account.

  7. But (and I hope you take no offence) tbh if you want to feel like a real soldier then frankly GR:AW or ANY other GAME is not gonna cut it no matter how many bells and whistles you add. ;)

True but GRAW is coming very close to a great if not even perfect military simulation. However the positive aspect between reality and this is, in GRAW you won't physically die if you get shot :D - but you'll get an adrenaline burst if the experience is intense and believable enough! :)
  8. Now before people start screaming realism, yadda yadda, until games can offer Peripheral Vision then compromises will always have to be made and a 'Free Look' function may be fine for Flight Sims but not  GR:AW

What if GRIN would decide to add Track IR support to the game in a possible patch or maybe an expansion pack - that would enable you to use a 'free look' AND be ready for action at the same time (good compromise)? :)

    BTW:

The 'free look' option was just an idea to enhance the body awareness and it would work the same way as holding your breath for a much more precise shot does - once you no longer keep the button pressed, you're no longer in fl mode. Yes it's realistic because in reality you won't be able to instantly point a gun everywhere you look, like you normally do in a FPS. It's also a much cheaper solution since not everybody is going to get himself / herself a Track IR because - believe it or not - some people won't get one and it wouldn't be fair in my opinion to exclude them from this unique body awareness experience)! ;)

    To sum it all up:

No offense Dai-San, but if you wanna feel yourself in a game like a real soldier, then you'll also have to live with some of the disadvantages of a real soldier which means, if you don't see the enemy before he sees you then you're as good as dead. You have to be aware of your environment and communicate with your team members who also have to be aware of their environment or you're dead before you'll even know it. To quote Christian Allen: "The team that communicates on the battlefield is the team that wins!" (Geez, that's gotta be one of most perfect explanations I ever heard about combat!)

  9. the more buildings and windows the better.  it's silly not to have people occupy those spaces and use it. so what if a sniper gets you?  it teaches you to pick a rocket class next time.

the more challenged the better. campers exist in reality.  i don't support any limitations to their camping just because people can't find a way to defeat them.

Yay, house-to-house fighting - I loved practising that at the military!
  10. Who knows in a patch but anyone familiar with the GR1 or Rainbow Six / Rogue Spear series knows there is usually an expansion in the works.
Yes of course, a possible expansion pack would be another option but minor features could most likely get implemented by a patch! ;)

You know expansion packs are good for telling new stories, giving the players more maps or additional /different weapons, skins etc. but letting them pay for a few little more minor features means you're going the Bethesda or EA way and personally I doubt that's the right way to go.

Does anyone need a horse armor in here? It's yours for only $2.60! :D

    Ooops....wrong game!

  11. Blending the two views does have its good or bad points depending on your viewpoint (no pun intended).  The FPWV gives you the more realistic LOS but OTS does give you that life-saving advantage for peeking around corners.

What if you could for example detach the camera from the weapon by keeping a specified key pressed and once you release it, it'll snap back and re-attach to the weapon? This kind of free view shouldn't be that hard to code, don't you think? But in my opinion something like that should be an option because some of the casual gamers could easily be overwhelmed with another feature and another key! ;)

You're all right, it's probably to late to implement all that into the final version of the game, but that doesn't mean it's also to late to implement such an option into in a possible patch, so there's still hope. Same goes for a few of the other requested things on the wishlist of the die-hard GR gamers. However, GRIN will first have to make sure the requested functions aren't breaking the gameplay - that's top priority - or you'll end up with lots of options / functions but the worst gameplay ever and I honestly don't think anyone of us would want that! ;)

However we should keep in mind that, although this feature and that option would be nice to have in the game, such solutions doesn't have to necessarily come from the developer. The GR community already proved it's still having a lot of highly capable modders and with a good documention of the Diesel engine the modders could probably do the trick - maybe even with a bit of support by GRIN! ;)

    About 'peeking around the corners':

If I recall correct from the GC2005 presentation and if my infos are up to date then we'll have 'advanced leaning' in the game which (in my opinion) is even better than the OTS view and more realistic! ;)

BTW: Sorry for all the smilies - it's a bad habit! 0:)

  12. Thanks for giving a summary BigSm.

when he shoots a burst it looks like not so many recoil

Do you mean that they said the weapons dont have much recoil even on automatic? Or that the weapons dont have much recoil "as long as" you burst? Did you happen to notice if they were able to shoot the AI's accurately while running, like in the UBI trailer? Thanks again.

Actually they said nothing about the recoil! ;)
  13. get that video uploaded somewhere.

Its copyright material, so we won't allow any links to it posted on this site.

How about a transcript? I recently created one with the most important parts of that video! It's only in german but maybe some of you has enough time to translate it cuz to be honest, I'm rather busy at the moment! :)

Well let's sum it up in this sentence of Fabian Siegesmund (editor at GameStar):

"Everything I've seen so far - although it's been only 5 - 6 levels - is very great."

Petra Schmitz: "One shot one kill, right?"

Fabian S.: "Exactly. [..] You gotta be really carefull because the enemies - unlike a lot of other games - don't lurk around at the same spot. Instead they have their patrol routes and each time you're re-loading the Level, they'll pop-up somewhere else."

  14. Awesome stuff - especially the one with the Ghost's & Santa! :D

    i'm going to frankfurt!

I'll join ya! :D I gotta....uh...teach this female proper German!

Oh yeah and I need to get my bloodpressure checked as well!

    Uhm.....gotta go!
