This problem occassionally takes place during missions.
So for example:
I've just took out the 2nd bunker and was standing on the hill, watching the area and looking for enemies. I then decided to get my men to the Black Hawk for a re-supply. I used the tactical map to lay in the exact way for each member and clicked on EXECUTE ALL. 2 members started to move, one didn't. I clicked the EXECUTE ALL button again but he still didn't. I used the Ingame command menue's EXECUTE order - nothing. I issued a direct move order Ingame and it worked, but he was facing the wall!

Another example:
I decided to restart the level again and ordered my men to follow me. Everything went good. I approached a position of which I knew the bunker personnel would start to shoot with their 50's at my men and in order to prevent getting one of them shot or even lost, ordered a full stop - "Holding position". Then I took my sniper rifle in order to take the gunner of the bunker out when suddenly one of my comrades started to walk right in front of me and of course got killed by the bunker's gunner.
Another one:
My men follow me, when an enemy - which I didn't see since he was standing in the shadow starts to shoot at them. Instantly I point the mouse back to my location and issue a team MOVE order, to draw them out of the enemy fire - while 2 of them follow the order one of them walks only a few steps then decides to walk back and return the fire. The result: DEAD.
Suggestion:
The allied AI should - as soon as the STOP order is issued really hold position (no movement whatsoever) or even disperse and make use of the next best cover they can find or the player should have another order inside the command menue "TAKE COVER" so that he can order the Ghosts to stop and then instantly take cover, ignoring all other previous orders.

Seconded! This game has the potential to be the best ever, I feel that a company like GRIN is capable of achieving it.
Keeping it 'til judgement day!

My good old AI friend Kirkland previously destroyed a tank in my updated retail version, however since then he's running around like this.
Also since the patch the cross-com seems to stuck sometimes if I try to select one of my comrades and then 2 are highlighted at the same time (the fullscreen helmetcam isn't working then).
My Specs:
Pentium 4 2.64 Ghz
2 GB Ram
Gainward 6800 GT golden sample + 256 MB
Windows XP Home + SP1 & 2 as well as latest updates.

Occassionally in single player you can't zoom in by clicking the right mouse button, however as soon as you shoot a single time the Zoom seems to work again.
Sometimes the AI is cheating - shooting through a wall (not because of the calibre or weapon) - they are just standing in a corner and aim at you through the wall - collission detection seems to have a problem here.

In the XBox360 because what you saw has been a XBox360 Trailer.2. Where is the 3rd person view as seen in the trailer, video?
No real soldier (and I've been one) would ever do that, so if GRIN would add this feature to the PC version, it wouldn't be a realistic.Simply take the M8 or M8 compact with you and collect the ammo from the fallen enemies.7. The ability to use enemy weapon is a must!! ( i always runs out of ammo) -
I fourth this!

There might be a few things that aren't perfect but which games are perfect at release anyway? I mean, as long as they continue to improve it, that shouldn't be a problem at all!
-
Because these voice files have been recorded for the XBox360 version of the game - they could simply use these and the problem would be solved.the option would be ok , no problem there .but how do you know the voice files already exist ? theres no viewable content forom the game .

1. A "fall back" / "take cover" - order so that the AI immidiately cancels any given order and takes cover
2. the editor and an SDK with 3DSM plug-ins, photoshop plug-ins for skins etc.
3. the ability to issue orders to the AI so they're going prone, start to crouch or stand up
4. optional verbal commands and confirmation messages for / from Mitchell (adds a lot of realism)
5. toggle behaviour like in GR1 (assault, recon, fire at will, seize fire)
6. (it's not a must be, but it would be nice) armpatches (with alpha layer support)
7. more weapons (for example the ones which are part of the future warrior program + the camera rifle used in the XBox360 version, as well as maybe the FN F57 or FN F2000)
8. optional wireframe / realtime 3D look inside the cross-com (a few players seem not to like the wireframe view because they are high end PC users - I like it though!
)9. (since so many people complain about it:) Standalone server files that don't require a video card on a root server
10. demo replay function for the single player / coop but as well for the multiplayer (that way you're able to max your skills)

Maybe because it's realistic? Why do you need Mitchel telling you what you see?...
At least when I served, in my unit we weren't able to communicate via telepathy.
I think the magic word here is "option" because that means if you don't like them turn them off just as you can with the verbal confirmation kills (don't tell me you didn't know that). However if you go for realism, then verbal confirmations have to be inside and verbal orders or at least handsignals as well. Why? Simply because in a unit you need to communicate one way or the other or you won't stay alive very long!Just as there is no kill confirmation text (thank you GRIN g_thumbsup.gif ), there shouldn't be any verbal confirmation kills from the other Ghosts. But GRIN gave us that and its ok. If Mitchel has to tell you what you see, then maybe you should pay more attention to the battle in front of you.
BTW:
It really wouldn't be a big deal to integrate them with a patch since the voice files already exist. All that needs to be done is a bit of coding to add the option to the main menue and attach the voice files to the cross-com command menue.
-
I agree to that and I'd like to add:
When he's issuing some orders you should also hear these orders because it doesn't make any sense, if he is not using handsignals AND not vocally issuing orders. I mean how are they (the ghosts) supposed to know what he wants them to do? The ghosts are soldiers not telepaths.

Sorry in case this has already been discussed.
What about the death animation? I personally think it's perfect except one little thing....the body get's stiff too soon, which sometimes results in unnatural corpse positions (bend over, crumbled etc.) and doesn't look realistic to me. I think this should be corrected so that the bodies actually first fall to the ground and then - as soon as they "rest on it" start to get stiff that way it looks more natural and it's probably easy to fix!

BTW:
A lot of people complain about the look of the Wireframe Cross-Com. What do you all think about that? Should there be an option for realtime footage (like in the console versions) for High End PC's? I personally like it the way it is however I get the point why High End PC users might complain about it!

Oh, one last thing I'd like to add directed at those with the fullversion:
I changed the setting to HIGH via a modification of the XML file, however I don't see any real difference when it comes to textures (besides the Ghost armpatch) so I assume there are no high quality textures in the demo (maybe to keep the filesize down). Could anyone of you with High End PC's post a pic with GRAW (fullversion) running on HIGH settings?

Don't worry the ammount of "gamer babes" grew within the last years and at the moment it looks like it'll keep growing!
I have 3 female gamers inside my clan and one of them would kick anybody's bottom inside Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - she's nice, intelligent, pretty and.......has a boyfriend (Well *sighs* you can't have everything!)!

AI bug:
After I've ordered one of my men to a specific position he's reaching it but is observing the wrong direction.
Possible solution:
The AI automatically aims at the direction the player was looking at while issuing the order.
AI bug:
After an AI comrade reaches the specified position, he's stuck at it and walks against for example a wall for hours.
AI bug:
Although the sniper has a clear shot he responds "I don't have a clear shot" or "Negative" and refuses to neutralize the enemy AI.
AI bug:
Sometimes the Ghost's aren't taking any cover while under fire which often results in a dead comrade.
-
You mean switching like in GR1? Yep, that would be nice.able to move between squad members
More commands? Seconded. Especially "Fall back" or "Take cover".More commends like in other army games -
What I'd like to see in the add on is definitely:
A) Although it's more a "cosmetic" thing, I'd like to hear Mitchell issue the commands, like in the XBox360 version - I think it should be possible to use the same voice files. You know "Ghost's, regroup", "Attack this position" etc. It would add a lot to the realism to the game in my opinion since it's unnatural to see him issue orders without saying something or using tactical handsigns in one second and then the other second talk to the HQ - doesn't fit since they're no telepaths. Feels somehow unnatural because on one side you have give the player a body awareness but then not incorporating things like that.
B) I'd like to be able to change the AI status ("Recon" and "Assault" etc. like in the original GR).
C) Optional tactical handsigns. It's just strange to see Mitchell issue commands without using his hands or / and saying something - even if this would block the players view, it should be in there for the sake of realism, but each player should be able to toggle it on or off inside the main menue - it's been also inside the original GR in a very simple way. (See also A)
D) A seperate option for the graphic settings that offers me to change between "AA + AF" or "HDR & AF".
E) The possibillity to order my comrades to change the stance status (go prone etc.).
F) Replay recording - I'm sure it'll be part of the add on.
G) Maybe some weapons like the FN F2000, FN FiveSeven etc.
H) Refined positioning. Sometimes I tell my men to advanced to a specific point and they are meters away from that point.
I) I'd like the ability to change a comrade's stance. That way I could order everyone to go prone and then attack with the element of surprise or something like that.
But besides these few points GRIN has done an awesome Job with GRAW!

BTW: Comrades, take a look at the SPECIAL THANKS part from the credit movie, especially Colin & WhiteKnight!

-
I really like it although it had a quite nasty bug during my last session - Kirkland was stuck at a wall but then I gave him a few orders (and shot his feet 2 times) and he began to move, but besides that I don't have anything - yet.
-
I think that might be a good feature request for the add on:
If Mitchell runs out of ammo, he can get some from his comrades - as long as they have some or his comrades will offer him their secondary weapon.
-
Hmmm.....makes sense. Thanks guys.....now all I need to find is a clip that fits.I noticed when I had my XM8, I could pick up the clips from the g36k's.When I had my MRC, I couldn't pick up the clips.
A g36k clip won't fit in an MR-C.
Some weapons aren't compatible with others I guess.
-
Ok, how? I've tried almost everything. I walked over (actually more through) them and there's whether an ammo sound nor an indicator like "press X to get some ammo" or so!
-
SPOILER AHEAD!!!
Well, I arrived at the rebels position and got the order to blow the fuel tanker. It's not that hard because all enemies are neutralized however.....I don't have any ammo left - whether for the Glock nor the MR-C. Grenades are out as well. Didn't Bo mention something about "you can get the ammo from fallen enemies"?

I could really need some, since my comrades appearently refuse to attack that thing!

Geez, I wish I could get some clips from my comrades in such a case!

-
Well....what is a reasonable price in your opinion?Bought my ppu card today, in the uk only place i could find is scan.co.uk, good company with a reasonable price
-
Well, I might help you with that (although it's not really huge....except when it comes to filesize)!
