  1. Takedown has improved a lot atleast in my opinion. I bought it the first of last month and its been patched twice including additional content since then. Still more work is needed but good progress to this point. Another free copy available ......PM me with your steam id.
  2. Watched all the Q&A videos on Utube, liked what I saw and bought the game. My initial impressions are very positive...in a word "comfortable" . I think folks tend to forget that those classic titles like Rogue spear and Ravenshield, the titles that we tend to use as the measuring stick for those titles that followed had there share of issues at the time of there releases.......to be honest I can't think of a single game in my collection that didn't. I believe that in Takedown we have a good starting point,if development proceds at a reasonable pace and the mod tools become available I think we will have an excelent title provided the community has the patients.
  3. I wont spend a penny on it...not now or later. The whole mess with the PC side of this thing actually drove me in the opposite direction. I reinstalled COD1 and picked up United offensive cheap from Amazon. Still some servers out there running it and the clan I belong to just put up a base assault only server.
  4. Team Cerberus returns from the grave....Please sign us up. Hammer MVTalon
  5. I believe GRAW2 is far from dead. Every game/sim that I play has been and more then likely will continue to be community dependent for it longevity. The GRAW2 editor has been operational for what....17 days???. From the look of things a lot is happening within the modding community in a surprisingly short period of time.
  6. First of all I have to say that I am still waiting for GRAW2 to be released here in the states and may not fully understand the problem. In Steel Beasts Pro PE we frequently play with no map updates and sometimes with the map screen disabled. The solution is to screen shot and print out the map from the briefing screen provided it has grids. The lack of map updates or ingame maps for everybody but the leader does raise the bar considerably. 1.Raises the value of accurate and effective comms considerably. 2.Raises the need for good situational awareness. 3.Required level of teamwork is considerably higher. 4. navigation becomes considerably more challenging players. However this should have been an option not a permanent part of the game.
  7. Consider for a moment the huge amount of variables in system spec, hardware, installation methods and connection quality and speeds. How does anyone create a mod (or a game for that matter) that runs the same for all users ? In my opinion there will always be people who struggle to run this stuff. However the "I" thing as Janie 42 calls it will get in the way of things more often then not.Reputation is a finicky mistress, anymore it seems that its requires an equal mix of product and support after install and that is something you buy into the minute you start to create the mod.My recommendation to Jay and the Centcom team is simply to stay in touch and do what available time permits. To those that are having problems running the mod the odds that it is entirely a Centcom problem aren't real high considering the number of people playing the mod successfully.
  8. That last part has got me wondering about Tinker just the littlest bit
  9. It has what is called an "Offline practise mode" meaning you can play all the maps in your inventory against the AI.There is NO SP campaign to play . You can set the AI to several different skill levels and control how many AI that are under your control and the number you are fighting against.
  10. Suprises me as well !!! I think the lack of rets and the fact that the weapons are Iron sighted (with the exception of the sniper class) puts people off a bit. The game also has a little steeper learning curve as far as weapons use is concerned.Perhaps its the era the game is set in (WW2) I don't know for sure what it is. But I think as far as realism is concerned it is the best option available at the moment and a damn good game.
  11. Although not current day a lot of what you seek can be found in YOTM (The year of the monkey) In my opinion an excelent mod showing the potential [GR] still has.
  12. Rocky We had a major storm come thru here last week causing wide spread power outages in the Seattle Washington area (That is where Steams master server lives) and Steam was affected for a couple of days .Every thing should be fine now. Talon
  13. Its a sad thing...In my opinion the best type of gaming with the best people.....
  14. One question we have to ask or selves is ......Is the co-op community still large enough to make creating the game we want worth the cost of developing ? Can publishers like UBI soft make a profit by doing so ? That is after all what they are in buissness to do. It would be interasting to know what the cost of the additional content that was added to GR:AW added up to in dollars and cents. To my knowledge this is the largest and Best GR site on the web and as such I think if you play or have played co-op GR you have registered here at some point in time.12,880 members across all platforms as opposed to 2.4 million copies (across all platforms) of GR:AW sold. So are there enough of us ??????? Take that 12,880 members and subtract those that no longer play, Those that Don't play the PC version and last but not least those that are happy with GR:AW....what does that leave us with ? I am NOT defending UBI soft just looking at the reality of things.
  15. Its my opinion that expectations were set too high...set to an unrealistic level,. I base this on recent expieriance. I have a new PC coming this week and have spent the last couple of weeks going over my game collection ,what to load in and what to pack away. What became apparent very early on was that not one game in my collection came out of the box ready to go ,EVERY single game was flawed in some way .Every single game required further development and patching .Some requiring literaly years to get rite. I fully agree that GR:AW was not what the coop community expected to see but that in itself does not make it a bad game. Like every game some like it and some don't, some critisize the game in a constructive manner while others seem to have made it there lifes work to convince the rest of us that the game is junk. Myself I like the game for what it is NOT for what others expected it to be. It does not and likely as not ever will replace [GR] on my computer but plays very well beside it. I do have to add that before I spend my money on GR:AW 2 I will be looking to see some or all the remaining flaws in GR:AW corrected....within reason nothing is perfect
  16. There will be a free trial weekend for Red Orchestra ....Download the full game and play it on Steam free, from 12/7 thru 12/10 http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index...fw_RedOrchestra
  17. That's pretty much what Papa6 meant. Given the amount of posers it's sometimes safe to let those who don't know, know that somebody has a clue about what they're talking about. Something one would find out about those who are here and play GR. We either have been or are currently in the military including those on staff around here. Eric has been there done that as has Rabbi and Papa. While I missed all the shooting (I'm to young for 'Nam and to old for Iraq), I was in myself even though not a grunt (but still a rifleman though I was a winger). The premise of GR is what drew us to the game and not what GRAW seems to be (though I can't say as I have not played it). As for those who wish to flame or call others names, it's advisable to stop now. Agreed that there's a bunch of current and former military folks in here, as well as law enforcement, from several different countries. I don't think we've ever been exclusive to that, of course, and I should hope none of us 'greenies' comes off as elitist for it. EVERYONE has an opinion and a unique perspective, without exception. If you're a 12-y/o who attends pride marches and anti-war rallies, you still have something to offer here I'm sure. Based on your own unique perspective and your opinions formed thereby. But if you skin GRAW with pink tie-dye I WILL come find you, hippie! About as Elitist as it gets !!!!!!!!!!!! Thats not a referance to you in particular Rabbi but mostly those that came before you in this thread. This is a freakin game as was The origanel nothing more . Being Military ,ex-Military or law inforcement means very little here ...There are a lot of great players that have had no time in the military whatsoever .
  18. We have some folks here that Like GR:AW and some that don't .We have some folks that can't make up there minds from one day to the next and some that have made Bad mouthing GR:AW and Grin there lifes work (As sad as that sounds) and some that suffer from all of the above. As for me I like the game and have gotten a great deal of enjoyment for my $49 and see GR:AW as being well worth the money spent. HOWEVER I will not give GR:AW 2 a look unless those bugs that exist in GR:AW 1 are fixed which may make me a stuborn old S.O.B but thats life
  19. We did get our Patch for lockdown but it was to little to late ...the community had given up by the time UB soft released it. Hopefully we don't see a repeat with GR:AW it would be a shame as it is a game with a great deal of potential.
  20. I have been a staunch GR:AW and Grin supporter since the release of GR:AW...........However with the total lack of news on the Patch issue I have to admit that I am starting to lose faith that there actually is a patch forthcoming. In addition if the problems that persist in GR:AW such as the problems with the SADS files and the G/L bug are still around When GR:AW 2 is released I will not spend the money on it. Grin and UBI soft it is my opinion that you folks are now in a race against time .A race to get GR:AW fixed before the community gives up and moves on .Best move along smartly boys indications are that you may have very little time left.
  21. I have been playing since the retail release and haven't lost any interast ...part of the reason for that is the steady release of new content and the mods ...a very strong and well supported mod comunity is a big factor . Good anti cheat and functional Dedicated server soft ware help as well . Glad to see more RO people appearing here !!!!!!!.
  22. Well folks we now have 50 players per side and another 45 who haven't made up there minds yet. It will be the 18th Panzer Grenadiers versus the Soviet 35th guards, due to commence hostitities over the next couple of weeks . This should be a dandy of a conflict. Its beeing called a tournament but its more like a campaign . If you have RO this is something you don't want to miss out on .
  23. Yeah dial -up would be a serious handicap Iam afraid
  24. #1 Its a Steam powered game and you have to be connected to Steam to play . So yes an Internet connection is required #2 There is what is called a "Practise" mode which is single player against bots BUT it does require that you be connected to steam to play #3 I have found RO to be an excelent game ,The most realistic shooter I have found to date (In my Opinion) BUT perhaps not for everyone ....its an Iron sights only no Rets and bullets don't travel on a laser straght trajectory type of game so it takes some practise and patients to become a good player. The Game is very well supported by the Devs with new content released once a month since the game was released. Seems to have a strong modding comunity with 30 plus new modder created maps released in the last couple of months. Steam has proven to be a good set up with all game updates automaticaly downloaded and installed in Red Orchestra . As for the rest of the game details its probably best to wander over to the Red Orchestra web site and have a look http://www.redorchestragame.com/
