  1. if you don't want big explosions, don't buy the PPU yay everyone is happy
  2. the ageia clip looked like a pretty big explosion, yes, but you have to consider the cargo of the truck. im sure the video you have is just a truck, with no cargo. now obviously it wouldn't be realistic for every truck in GR: AW to have a payload of explosives. but another thing, chances are that if you're willing to spend $350 on a PPU (or whatever it costs) that you want to see pretty explosions, and realistic explosions aren't very pretty (at least from grenades and small explosives). also, you have to think, "what is realism?" some people would argue that the more involved explosions are more effective at immersing you in the game. immersion can go a long way in enhancing realism. so if you're going for complete realism of explosions, keep your $350. but if you want an added visual impact with your grenades and small explosives, get the ppu. edit: oh yeah, lets see that video
  3. solution would be how CoD2 does it, if i remember correctly. it has keys for toggle crouch, toggle prone as well as crouch and prone. so if you like toggles, you map the toggles. if you like to hold the key, you map the hold keys. so if you want to hold ctrl to duck, but want to toggle prone with z, you can do that. although that was kind of weird because if you toggled prone, and then held ctrl to duck, when you released ctrl you went back to prone. but my point is that the solution would be to give us a plethora of controls to map so we can pick the way we want to play. hopefully they've done this.
  4. LOL, bro. It's 100% sure they will not base any decisions on this poll, so why ask for less than you want? --Logos ← so why ask at all? why am i even typing this? what is my purpose in life? i guess i'll have to wait till GR: AW comes out to answer these questions
  5. not only are you aware of your own body, but you're aware that your counterparts are aware of their bodies, can't wait
  6. what are you people voting for a demo thinking? im voting for a write in: ubi releases GR: AW tomorrow, or wait better yet, right now! doesn't matter because the MOST that is going to happen up untill about a week before the release is some videos, and i for one cannot wait to see them.
  7. the current gen cards could show what we've seen in the current screens on high, when bo said the cards weren't good enough to have everything on high, i think he meant HDR + AA with aegia ppu explosions. a couple of 7800 GTs in SLi could do it at a suitable framerate im sure, if they could only do HDR and AA at the same time.
  8. as i understand it, it will replace all physics in the game. so yes, it will take some off the stress off of your CPU, but not your gpu.
  9. well its been said that the HDR lighting has been toned down a bit for PC, which is good. in real sunlight the ghosts wouldn't appear washed out like they do in your last screen (at least not to your eyes, perhaps to a camera lens). dunno what to say about the windows, i'll have to go back and look at them. if they are as you say, hopefully they are still tweaking the less important materials (like car windows) since we haven't seen any screens from the current build. edit: i just noticed in the last screen that you can see the selector switch on the weapon model and actually make out the fire modes. i wonder if it moves? wouldn't that be over the top and wonderfully satisfying
  10. i agree, i believe the AI in GR: AW will be alot better than the bots in CS, but i think what Poita meant is that the bots in CS move and act like human players. i think the problem with that video, is that the GR: AW AI logic is based on reacting to the ghosts. which is good, that means they will be just as dynamic as you are.. and inversely, if you just stand there (much like the ghost in the video) they will react in the most basic of ways. now it's been said that they will try to flank you and what not but it looked like there was only one bot.. and that's a whole different thread in itself..
  11. i would think that the bot isn't moving correctly because of two reasons: 1) he's not taking any fire. as bo said, the player's just recording the truck explosion, and isn't even paying attention to the enemy. i'm sure if the ghost took a few shots at him he'd find some cover. 2) he has a clear shot. the guy making the recording is completely exposed. if i was the guy next to the truck, and i wasn't taking fire i'd drop the ghost right there, and then take cover. problem is the ghost isn't dieing. this is only speculation as i have not seen the AI in action. edit: watched it again and i see what you mean. i can only hope that when the AI is taking it's cues from the ghosts (instead of just engaging a stationary target that doesn't return fire) it's movements will seem a bit less "calculated."
  12. if they covered all the known aspects of GR: AW pc it'd be a pretty short read
  13. lol actually its even more realistic than in all the other games...a rifle isnt just a tiny toy.. ← there has been discussions about this before lol.... lets just say its not realistic... for many reasons ← nah not really. there's only one reason it's unrealistic: you're on a monitor with quite an unsignificant FOV as compared to human eyesight. but if you can't get past that you're probably not going to be satisfied with the realism of any game. some would argue that even with you're view being partially blocked by a gun, thus having your FOV reduced even more, FPWV still feels more real than FPNWV (?) because it adds to your level of immersion (hopefully this will be especially true with the body awareness feature in GR: AW). having said that i definately wouldn't be against a toggle in the options menu.
  14. looks like odd mesh deformation to me.. look at his right thigh.. it's huge. also he seems a little wide at the waste. although any problems with the rig that could cause that (if that was indeed the case) seems to have been worked out quite well as you can see in the first screen. /i am going on very little sleep however i'll have to check these out again tomorrow.
  15. screens look awesome, only thing that stuck out in a negative way was this: it's already been said that this screen was from a lower build. i'm hoping the weird deformation has to do with a low res texture and that the screen was just meant to demonstrate the awesome volume light.
  16. 360 XDK is using Havok and ageia PhysiX, so no. ← only software... the 360 doesnt have a PPU, or a physics processing unit. which is a processor dedicated to physics calculations. the 360 isn't as limitted as an unequipped pc (as far as physics goes), because it has several processors, but it is far more limited than a PPU equipped pc
  17. Yeah...that too. Good point. I even remember reading something about how MS admitted not supporting PC Games as much as they could and they were doing more to rectify this. That was quite a few months back, so the idea of them holding UBI back for this reason would totally contradict this. ← gr: aw pc is not going to effect windows sales.. i don't think that anyone is going to say, "oh look, ghost recon. i guess i have to go out and buy windows xp now" not too many serious computer gamers out there that don't already have windows.. however there are plenty gamers that would buy an xbox 360 JUST because of gr: aw. i would have the other day had best buy had any in stock.. kind of glad they didn't though. if this theory is indeed the case then i can only hope that the next ghost recon will be a DX10 windows vista game, and microsoft will flood us with pc info and virtually no xbox 360 info in order to boost sales for their new os. edit: however if you think about it this won't happen. there's only one reason that microsoft wouldn't want PC info released: it's clearly better than the 360 version. that being said, an inferior 360 version would only encourage the 360 owner to buy windows vista.
  18. i bet that last one would have knocked him over had it hit him in the gut, heh
