i agree it can be troublesome, but i guess we'll just have to get used to it. on the plus side it encourages working in squads/covering each other while reloading, much like real life. also (provided the scroll wheel weapon switch wasn't so clumbsy) it encourages switching to a secondary when primary is dry, much like real life. so i think what REALLY needs to be patched/added is some weapon hotkeys.

some good points there that i've never really thought about. tom clancy games have a unique fanbase, in that just about as many people play SP/COOP as do MP. i would imagine this makes it much harder on the devs.

I guess its pretty obvious we need AC pretty quick

for the last time, they're on vacation. -
one reason GRAW is a huge resource hog is the view distance. HL2 looks great, but the maps are small, they don't need to be large because the gameplay is completely linear. another example would be doom3. it runs great on the maps provided.. but open up the map editor and make a huge, well lit, open area... framerate drops to like 10 fps. this is what i meant when i said it was an unfair comparison. the map design is one of the major reasons graw's gameplay stands out to most people, myself included.

Rets seem to be inaccurate...
zwitherow replied to =VR= dr_awesome's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
never looked like you were much farther away than 25 meters.. -
the drone hotkey (default: B) doesn't work for me either. have to use the mouse wheel.

Rets seem to be inaccurate...
zwitherow replied to =VR= dr_awesome's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
yes the spread of the dots on the ret are supposed to indicate the spread.. but we don't know what DISTANCE the reticule is calibrated for. for instance, if you stand 5 feet from a wall, and unload.. voila a tight grouping. this is as expected. if you're 50 meters away however, this grouping is much larger, as it should be, and as it is in the game. i think the spread, while much tighter than some other games, is pretty accurate to real life. even when you're moving, the movement is very controlled and with training you can be pretty accurate on the move under and up to 50 meters. -
maybe? lol. that comparison is completely unfair. graw > hl2 imo edit: props to audioslave, however

well said, i agree.

if i had anything against you, that'd be in my sig for sure!

i had that happen once as well, but i didn't try frags i just rejoined.. interesting to say the least lol when i did it i didnt spawn. the round ended and i never respawned.. i just stayed where i was when the game restarted with the same map. edit: this really sucks but at the same time it's pretty hilarious, lol

how to unlock GR:AW SP missions
zwitherow replied to DonMiguel's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
the coop missions are all unlocked to begin with. -
that's because when you review a game, you use the proper hardware. the same could go for any game: "I don't understand why they rated Doom3's graphics so good when it only plays at 10 fps 640x480 on my GeForce3."

Question to Grin on their choice of lighting
zwitherow replied to LT.INSTG8R's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
I understand your concerns, but I'm glad they chose DL. It will keep this game looking better and better year after year. Developing cutting edge games is always a risk because when you're dealing with new technology, there's no way to tell if it will be the norm in the future. But one thing is for sure, you can't blame GRIN either way for trying something new. -
as far as i know the reason they haven't been on lately is because they're on vacation in mexico.. edit: nonetheless, some people still need to be more appreciative of their dedication to this community.

can we start missions before we get an editor?
zwitherow replied to theWalrusKing's topic in GR:AW - Mission Modding
gonna have to wait, as far as i know. -
so you're going to sit there and tell me that the first multiplayer servers for [GR] weren't run and gun? the community is still trying to grasp the instinctual aspects of the game. teamwork and tactics cannot be successfully employed until this is done. i think the domination mode has an extremely high potential for serious ladder play, as teamwork and tactics will be essential.

SP: Do you always finish mission with team intact?
zwitherow replied to Bahger's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
your team's abilities never change. one reason that Bo gave for this is that the entire campaign only spans like 2 days or something. it wouldn't be realistic for the ghosts to get any better. -
no sdk = no new weapon models we gotta have at LEAST an exporter for max and/or other 3d aps if we're gonna have new weapons.

Can someone post some MP Footage
zwitherow replied to 1Bravo [CV]'s topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
np, though the compression is pretty poor. if i knew a better way to compress it i would. just noticed the 5th victim is GR.net's very own *RWG*Jackal. -
because LS is from australia and the retail version has not been released there. he's still on the demo
