Thought I might as well start a post about tips. Everyone give 1 SP and 1 MP tip and let's see what we get.
SP - If you've shot 1 guy round the corner and you know there's another guy there the chances are he's goinna shoot you as you move round. Take the time to try and flank him as chances are he;ll be looking the other way.
MP - ammo - (also an SP tip too really). If you've just shot 3 or 4 rounds and are about to move into a hot location, reload. Those extra 3 or 4 bullets will save your life one day!The amount of times i've seen guys running round with 10 in there clip and they die because they fall short is too numerous to mention. You don't loose any clips so don't think that changing the mag that's got 27 rounds left is going to disappear.

Can somebody tell me how you glitch-gun-fire-through-walls. Not that I wanna do it but rather how not to do it.
-
lol at last! thank you NC. I know how grid refs work - all i wanted to know was where the grids came from - since I have the TG mod I never noticed in the game that it doesn't come with it.

How odd that RSE didn't add it in.
-
mmmmm....Maybe I'm just crap at researching then

-
OK i think i understand now what u lot are going on about but I don't get it still. (lol).
I play on TG'ers servers most nights and we constantly use the map for grid refs - not a modified version, the one that comes with the game. Admittidley it can be a little difficult to read if your not used to it. So what i'm getting here is that your modding the map pic to one with clearer grids on it?
Either way u still have the grid system so does it really matter that much if 1 team has a different grid from another? However rules are rules and if they're not present at one ladder go to another that has em, or get a petition together.

I've just tried looking for GR MP cheats on the net - 1st on cheat websites and secondly on cheat forums.
Fortunately I didn't find any and the cheat forums I did have a look in would seem to frown upon MP cheating (though there was one guy asking for an auto aim cheat for AA so he could get the sniper rifle - yeah right like that's all he's gonna use it for - lamer)
So it looks as though MP cheats aren't so easy to get hold of which will hopefully deter anyone else from doing it (except hard core cheaters of course)

"Man... with this post I can't wait for the one that says pausing a game to answer the door for the pizza man is considered cheating..."

Couldn't resist that 1!

Couldn't agree more San.
How much longer would the game last is they randomly inserted the enemy. Yes your objectives would still be in the same place but I hate the fact that if you've attempted the mission 3 times and you are on your 4th go then you know where the enemy are going to be and it looses that 'they could be round the next corner..." feeling.
I find it strange that RSE didn't place the tango's randomly on the firefight missions like you got with Rogue Spear on the tango hunt. I've been playing a lot on the TG'ers servers and the one thing about those missions is, whilst it's great to play on a tactical level, you do get people warning you of an enemy sniper at grid blah blah.
Personally I'd like to see random emplacements as imo it keeps the game alive for longer.

"And why not? I've already seen it happen numerous times in everything from Counter-Strike, to Ghost Recon, to Raven Shield. "
I've never played CS or RS but have played a lot of online games and this does suprise me - in all the years i've played I've never once been in a game where absolutely everybody camps (unless it is a sniper server). I'm not saying your wrong but I can only comment on my experiences.
They must be great fun to play those ones lol.

Your weapon loadout should be chosen to what sort of mission you are playing.
If you are playing outside, is there a role for a sniper? If the map is cluttered it may be a better option to take a rifle.
If playing indoors then you'd probably want a smaller weapon. Since you have closer contact you won't need as much stopping power. Also you barrel won't stick out unnecessarily (I've seen guys use the m4 socom in a totally indoor map - the barrel is a massive givaway to the tango's). Something like an MP5 or other short barrelled weapon.
If it's Hostage Rescue then maybe you'd want to take along silenced weapons.
Think about the mission objectives and the map, think what weapons might be good and try a few out.
For MP games TvT (team vs team) then personally I usually take the SA80 with frags or the oicw with GL. I always try out new weapons though from time to time.

In that case cobbs I really don't see a problem. Using grid refs is part of the game and is used in real life. So if we take this further (to the nth degree, lol) then are you not going to be able to say where anyone is on the map?
"Er sir I got a contact by that blobby bit on the map"
"Which blobby bit?"
"Err... I'm not allowed to say sir"
So if no G.refs can be used then I guess you can't say he's on the roof of the embassy. Why not just get rid of the map, say NV is out, you can only shoot players when you not looking at them and you have to call yourself wendy!
Blah!

I don't know what gridmaps are if you are talking about installing some (??).
I thought GR had a map with grids on it - If this is what you mean (which I doubt lol) then there isn't a problem with my eyes as it's part of the game.
If you are installing though then it's up to the people who run the ladder. If you don't agree then can you not join a ladder that allows this. There are a lot of gamers out there who like to play the game the way it was written and adding 3rd party software is something they don't want.

Well if we're going to take this post to the extreme then re-playing a mission again after you have failed is cheating (nah naa
).Since the game can be pretty stupid at times in that the tangos/your men can do weird things then I think the QS feature is a necessity. Why should you start all over again because one of your guys decided not to shoot the tango running in? And also i can't be bothered to move all my men the first 100yds knowing that there aren't any tango's nearby.
I usually save after each mission objective or if I've had a particularly hard battle. I play on Elite and I do not mod my players.

The best weapon imo is my black-widow catapult and 2 foot long pea shooter loaded up with
a) frozen peas (for use in built up areas)
b) ball bearings (fmj)
As a back up to my catapult i have an elleastic band with metal paper clips!

Hi and welcome.
Is this copy u have for PC or console?
As said once you've played the single player join in on the Multi player games as you can play the missions except with real people.
Also get teamspeak (www.teamspeak.org). This is a chat prog that works brilliantly and makes the game 10 times better!
There's plenty of good servers.
GR.net has it's own
Tactical Gamer is another good server (but for serious players only - though really good to play as it's all team work)
UBI can be disappointing as it's hard
a) to try and find a game that doesn't lag and
b) isn't infested with idiots. I would say cheaters as well (from listening to some people here) but as I don't know what cheats are out there I wouldn't know who is and isn't cheating.
Basically it's usually a good idea to stay away from the public servers and find the more dedicated ones. GR and TG servers have really great, friendly people on them.

In real life is can the oicw really fire 6 nades in under 4 seconds?
-
Rocky check out Delta force if you haven't already done so - you can climb, swim and jump (cept the jumpin is stupid cos everybody jumps all the time as soon as you open up on them.)
Whoever here said that the removal of the climb on boxes from the R6/RS days was stupid I agree.
For jumpning why not have it that you can multijump but for each successive jump you jump a bit less till u can jump no more and then have to wait a while until you can jump normally again. Aslo when you are jumping you shouldn't be able to shoot (to stop it in MP games)
Someone here also said about a quick roll or dive. I too have thought about this and remember a game where a quick double tap on a L/R strafe movement would make you roll L/R or leap L/R. i hate it when your just comming around a corner and a terrorists starts shooting at you (even though you CAN'T see him) and you can't quickly leap away.

Rocky...
Oooooohh where do i begin. lol
Glitches -
u can poke the barrel of ur gun through a wall and shoot people inside,
lay clays through walls,
hide in certain trees (yes in the trunk)
see people on the otherside of certain hills (basically steep hills)
Cheats were worse.
x75 zoom (for those that haven't played the DF series you basically have maps that go on for ever so a big zoom is useful if your camped 2000m away with a barret)
Speed cheat - run fast
knife cheat - auto kill people with knife from afar (u got more points for a knife kill)
teleport cheat
see people on map cheat
one cheat where u could lie down in a house or behind a hill but you saw the surrounding area as if you were 100 foot in the air above your pos. and you could fire too.
I'm sure there's more and EDITEDwere they annoying. They'd run round a super speeds super killing everyone and then I'm sure in some weird i'm-a-complete-useless-gimboid-nerdy-geekoo-crappypantsplayer kinda way they actually thought they had won the match because they had the most points.
I still cannot work out why people cheat in games other than the fact that they have inferiority complexes or are just out to annoy other people.
Now if there weren't kids present here and no censorship i would not have been so kind in my use of words but i can't resists saying YOU $%%^(*&"%£^£$&$^Q$^*"£^"&*^£"*&^"*&^*&%!"£!$£^%*&(&*!%"£^!*"&&$*&(!"&£$&&£ BUNCH OF*(&^&£"^%£*(!"^£!"$£!"£!"^£(!"^£*(!"^ PLEBS!!!
No swearing please

"Those only exist because hardcore modders who've been around the PC gaming world are doing Ghost Recon and lots of us are joining in."
3 Cheers for the modders!!

Hi DD and welcome to the forum's (i'm assuming your new here).
Could you be a little more specific in your request. Is it just the command map your having trouble with - if so which part of it.
If it's playing the game then how do you play - slow and cautious or bold and reckless? Slow and cautious wins the day normally.
Don't forget the KB shortcuts which are useful gor putting your hole team on suppress if some excrement should hit the fan.
Putting your guys into hold mode will make them find cover.
try using the recon command to get you guys to move up to a good position. Have another squad flank and then make them engage. Get 1 squad firing 1st and then let the other team open up to really confuse the enemy.
Hope this helps

1) You can set way points via your map/command console
2) Download Teamspeak and use this to communicate to other online players. (and if you meant for single players - what's the point, u play by yourself lol)
3)I think you need to appreciate what it takes to write a game because what you are asking is not so easy to implement. It could be incorporated but it would probably be to hard to use effectively. You already have loads of keys to move just the player, how many more would you need to move the weapon on an x,y,z axis?
-
I suppose you could have a LW mode in which the mouse movements were transferred to the gun, leaving you in effect motionless and prone to attack. In MP though people would just shoot your gun as it was stuck around the corner and thus making ur LW useless. Also it would probably be to cumbersome to use in game MP. On SP though it would be interesting to see.
4) use your map and threat indicator
5) Delta force had this option where you could see through the eyes of other players (it showed up as a small square in the top right of screen). However the view was so small that it made it practically useless. If done for GR2 would need to be a lot bigger.
6) There are no medics in GR and you have KB shortcuts for your squad for simple commands.

Good effort!
I like the history - nice to read up on one of our less obvious/recognised regiments

In my experience most people who slag off anothers gameplay do so because they can't find a way around it and get frustrated because they keep getting popped by the guy. Most campers I ever encountered (if they are campers and not just sitting there for a minute - who knows?) will sometimes get the shot on me. However, if they plan on staying there I know where they are, call it into my team and let someone else deal with it or go back and get him.
Who ever here said 'what if both sides camp?' - lets be realistic - that aint ever gonna happen.
Also the other thing to remember about campers is that the longer you stay somewhere - the more bored you get. If you play intelligently you'll know the likely spots a camper may be hold up in (chk your map for these). If the campers been there for 5 minutes and you're being clever in your movement and checking where you are going then you will take him out. Because he's been inactive for a longtime and got bored.
If the aim of the game is to get the most kills and somebody camps and 'shoots you in the back' - all you are doing is complaining about a guy who prefers to use stealth against people who like to rambo it around the playing area. Ask yourself this - if you were in a spot that you'd carefully got yourself into, and targets kept running by and you were taking them out without being detected - would you want to move?
I agree that camping can be a problem on games that have specific objectives and no respawn as 1 guy hold up somewhere ridiculously out of the way where nobody can find him is annoying for everyone else who has to watch the clock tick by.
Personally if i have a good spot with frequent contacts i'll stay put. If there's nothing going on for a minute i'll move out. Not to say play this style all the time - I play to the feel of the game i'm in. (training map/pistols/solo is wicked just to run around a kick it

)Though here is a question. I was serving a game a while back. Team LMS and it started off pretty even but my side got the advantage after a while. We basically managed to keep pushing them back into their respawn little by little until we got to a spot where we were far enough out not to be spawn raping but close enough to surround them (only 3v3) and make sure they couldn't break out. spent the last half of the game (something like 7 mins) lying under a bush and shooting anyone that came my way. 7 minutes is a long time to stay in one spot and we were surrounding their base (though we couldn't see them respawning), so was this camping and spawn raping?
Personally through good teamwork and skill we pushed them back - there's no way I'm gonna give them a chance to fight back (accept make sure nobody got too close to spawn). They get their chance to win on the next game, but this one was ours and we decided to keep the spoils on this one.

Personally I also fail to see the point in cheating SP or MP. I always play games on the hardest level and generally complete them.
The only time I have ever 'cheated' in games is when I've been stuck at a point in the game I've spent the last hour trying to get through. Only then will I venture out into the cheaters websites to look up a walk through to get me throught that problem only (and I usually find out the bit I'm stuck at follows no logical sense - something like I have to insert a banana found back at level 2 into the keyhole because its a bit stuck due to rust - something stupid like that). However on SP games it's up to you how you want to play them and sometimes it can be fun to use the guys who have the laser guns in age of empires just to see them kick ###### lol
(and no i haven't used them but seen them in action). As for online cheating, well if ever you played Delta force in the public servers you'll know why I want every cheater stripped of his skin and flayed alive.

"Glitching" vs Taking Cover
in GR (PC) - General Discussion

yeah i read that article a while back but reading it again i can't find any mention of firing through walls. All i see is that you can look through but not fire. Am I blind?
