  1. Well the only real differences I see between the two are the physics. When watching the x360 vids and a car explodes it doesn’t move an inch, all you see is a big fire ball but in this old vid for PC that car explodes and totally goes air born then flips. If that kind of physics can be shown on a laptop but x360 can’t do it, I can’t wait to see what a high end computer is going to show!  :o=

I tend to blame the devs for not adding it in there. Sure wish they would have though because it looks great.

  2. Really, I think there is a lot less than let's say a year ago.  In fact, PC Gamers appear to be more worried about what games they are going to get then the 360 v PC.

Yeah it was a lot worse a year or so ago. Right now there is not much to fight about on the 360 side.

It's still really bad on some boards though...just depends what board you're on really. One thing for sure, NEVER EVER say Halo on the pc IGN boards. They will murder you!

  3. If the pc version blows the x360 version away then just imagine what kind of a treat we are in for, in a short time from now.

Well I have been wanting to see some videos of the pc version before I upgrade the PC I'm using now. This video is going to cost me the price of a new gpu for sure. So yeah I'm confident about the pc version now....I was starting to get worried they were going to pull a "lockdown" on the pc side. Now I'm not worried about it so I'm really glad to catch this old video.

The physics look fantastic....can't wait. Now give a demo so i can see just how bad it runs on this pc!

  4. It’s just that your constant defending of 360 like it was your sister, each time somebody says something about the box comparing it to the PC version on the PC forum is getting old bro imo.

I would agree with that. I do tend to stick up for xbox.

I think it's because I have seen so much console bashing that I tend to jump the gun sometimes. PC is my platform of choice in most cases so I'm on a lot of pc boards and a lot of pc gamers don't like xbox. So I get a ear full from pc guys all the time so I tend to give it back when I get a chance. I also see a lot of untrue comments so i do try and correct them when I see them.

I'll back off you feel that way but I'll always share my opinion....to a point. :)

  5. Like I stated in another post. Here we have another post ruined with the PC vs Console ######.  :x

Going to be a loooooooooooooooooong 37 days.

Well I apologize for the drama Cutter.

It wasn't about the console vs pc, it's the constant "I feel sorry for the console gamers", "pc will blow the 360 out of the water", "my pc is faster/stronger/better", crap that just gets old. It just sounds kind of ridiculous to someone who plays both.

Believe me I would say the same to any console fan who was saying the same thing about the pc version.

Everyone is allowed to have an opinion and share it...that's what he's doing and that's what I did.

I'm starting to cry so I'll leave it alone now. :) Thanks a lot WK! <_<

    Cheers to both versions.

  6. I was reading on the Ubi GRAW PC Forums and someone posted this link which is a shakycam footage from a games convention last year and is supposedly the PC version although apparently it is only an alpha build.

It's hard to see and there's no hud and the guy just runs around a bit and shoots but no enemies.  I assume people have seen it but I was just curious to which platform it is for?

    http://home.pages.at/nexy/nexrecordgr3.zip

Great video! Thanks for posting it...I have never seen it before.

Sure would be nice to see some high quality videos.

  7. I may be a bit biased in which version to get as I am a PC gamer, but I stand by my statement of I feel bad for the console gamers after I first saw part of the PC version in Germany last year.

:shifty: Please.... To be honest I take everything you say with a grain of salt when it comes to pc vs console.

You aren’t a bit biased you're extremely biased. In fact you're so biased I don't even trust your opinion about pc games...and I'm a pc gamer myself.

All that talk you were throwing around on the UBI console boards about "blow the 360 out of the water" just killed you're credibility in my opinion.

I’m not trying to be rude it’s just the constant console bashing is a little much. Seems like every time I see you post it always has a “pc is better” tone to it.

From what I'm seeing, no matter how good the pc version ends up being, there is no reason to feel bad for the console gamers.

  8. So I was just thinking about the huge difference in resolution with GRAW vs GR2.

I remember playing GR2 (multiplayer) and many, many times looking at something on the screen and saying to myself "oh man is that somebody...or is that a _______ ?" (whatever it might be).

Anyone at a distance turned into a blob on the screen for the most part and that was playing in 480p.

Now with playing in HD that blob will be much more clear and most HD users will also have a wider view because of the wider screen.

So you think it will be much of an advantage or same old thing?

  9. Here is some fuel to add to the fire. The very same issue of MaxPC also did a Head2Head pitting an X360 against a gaming PC featuring an AMD64 FX-57 and a GF 7800GTX with 512MB of VRAM. The X360 won 2 of the 5 catagories and lost overall to the gaming PC.

I'm amazed that a PC magazine wouldn't find in favor of the Xbox. :o

Yeah, it's not like I would take OXM's (xbox mag) word to heart if they were comparing the two either. I see lots of xbox bashing in pc mags all the time....PCGAMER being one of the worst.

Anyway that's not even what this topic was about and that did nothing but increase the odds of this turning this into a platform war.

  10. Anyway when i want GRAW media on any platform it's you i put my trust in these days Brain hehe. You seem to be on fire with the trackage downage. Keep it up ma man.

Well I have been really slow at work so ya know....not much else to do.

I'm also on a lot of boards when I'm slow so when I see a new GRAW info posted on those boards I bring it here....both pc and 360 (what little I have seen of pc anyway). :D

I need a demo for the pc version asap. My gpu will have a hard time for sure but I need to see if I can slide by with it or not.

It played the new Rainbow 6 demo with no problems so I don't know.....man that was way off topic.

  11. Ok i want to address something Colin and Brain said.

I don't thing it's illegl at all for companies to strategise their cross platform and cross title release schedules and marketing, i dont even think it's morally wrong or anyting like that.

I don't consider my theory a 'conspiracy theory'. That label is just another way of saying it's 'whacked out thinking'. I think it's just the only thing that makes any sense as to why the PC PR is subdued.

Well I was not trying to imply that they were doing illegl things. I should have worded it better but my point was more that they keep it away from the public.

And when I said 'conspiracy theory' I was not trying to imply that it's 'whacked out thinking'. Again, bad wording. I was just pointing out that we have no idea if any of this is fact. ;)

Either way I'm going to go play some lag infested COD2 on Live now. :)

  12. The X360 won the the multiplayer and price rounds while the PC won the preformance, games and controls rounds.

Sure the X360 version will sell, but not in large numbers initially as unlike someone stated earlier, not all X360 owners will buy GRAW. Until there is better saturation of the market, the flagship version will be wanted but left on the shelf due to not having the console to play it on. Last I heard, each store is only getting 20 of the X360 to sell due to the shortages. At those rates, selling 4 million units will take a while. GRAW sales will follow suit.

lol...what's your point of the whole head to head thing? First I would like to know how they did a head to head comparing these two platforms. How did they go about comparing preformance? And how in the world would xbox live beat pc's multiplayer? Live needs a lot of work before it's as stable as pc gaming online. Also it's a pc mag...not exactly unbiased. I'm sure if xbox magizine did they same thing they would come up with a different conclusion. Anyway you could bash the 360's hardware all day long but then looking at GRAW on the 360....well I'll take that crap hardware any day.

And I don't remember anyone saying that the GRAW 360 sales would be "initially in large numbers". Where did you see that? I know I said "There just are not going to be a ton of games out for some time and I would say GRAW will sell well all year". And I stand by that 100%. In fact I would say it will be the best shooter all year for the 360.

MS just opened a new plant and they plan on having close to 10 million 360s out by the end of the year and my guess is that "GRAW sales will follow suit".

Sure not everyone is going to buy GRAW but with a lack of good shooter I would say GRAW will sell just fine.

  13.

You ask why UBI would subdue the info on the PC and you posit that they want GRAW to sell well on 'all' platforms. Well, ultimatly this last point is correct . . .

    ..............................................

      Get it?

It's not hard to understand when you look deeper and wider at the picture. So please stop using the 'why would UBI not want to make as much money as they can on GRAW PC by holding back publicity.' argument ok  ;)

Surely i cant be the only one to see this?

You make some good points in there though I'm not sure I really buy it 100%.

It doesn't sound all that impossible but it's still just a conspiracy theory. When they finally show the pc version in motion, if it's as amazing :o as we would hope for then yeah I would be more likely to believe that.

I just don't see the two effecting each others sales all that much. I mean COD2 had been out for some time on pc before the 360 version and it's still the best selling 360 game to date I believe. Then look at other games that the xbox has got from the pc....take Morrowind. Morrowind, which was a very high profile game on pc sold more on the xbox...and by a fairly large amount from what I understand. But it came out on pc about two weeks before the xbox version. So why wouldn't MS pay Bethesda under the tabe for the same thing with Oblivion? I mean the two version are identical and more at competition with each other than GRAW because GRAW is being made specifically for each platform. On top of that almost all the Oblivion videos are from the pc version. Same goes for Prey....a lot more pc screens and videos and not much for the 360 version.

Anyway, they have said over and over that the pc version would be more tactical and the two don't even share the same view point. I don't see a whole lot of pc people jumping over to the 360.

I don't know......I just hope the pc version turns out good. And really I hope you're right. If they are only holding it back because of the 360 version then that would be a good thing but if there is another reason.....well then the first reason could be a lot better for everyone.

We should see soon enough. :)

  14. From Merrill Lynch Report

    link

Microsoft got off to a slow initial start following its Xbox 360 launch. It sold 1.5 million consoles in Q2:06 (Dec qtr), lower than our original estimate of 1.8-2.0 million. The supply shortfall was likely due to a shortage in memory chips. In its earnings call last month, Microsoft updated its guidance saying it would sell 2.5 million units in the first 90 days, which was down from its earlier estimate of 2.75-3 million units. However, it said it was on track for its original full-year estimate of 4.5-5.5 million units in FY06. With the recent addition of Celestica as a third-party contract manufacturer, we remain comfortable with our console estimates of: 1.7 million in Q3:06, 1.8 million in Q4:06, 2.0 million in Q1:07, and 3.0 million in Q2:07, for a total of 10 million units by Dec.06 (including the 1.5 million sold in Q2:06). Assuming console production can keep up with demand, Microsoft could see sales above our 10 million estimate if consumers decide they have waited long enough for Sony's PS3 and opt for the Xbox 360 instead.

So if they plan on 10 million consoles I would have to say Ubi has no problems selling GRAW on the 360.

There just are not going to be a ton of games out for some time and I would say GRAW will sell well all year.

Right now there are only a few FPS on the way (Far Cry, BF2 & Prey) so yeah....I would be surprised if GRAW didn't do very well.

  15. The pc version would not effect 360 sales by much....if at all.

    Just my opinion.  :)

Yep, but the 360 will take some casual players from the pc version,

especially if they have to buy new pc hardware.

I just don't see any logic in that.

They are making a pc and 360 version. The 360 version is going to sale very well no matter what. So why would they want to push more people on the version that they already know will sale well and sabotage the pc version's sales and end up losing $ on their investment into the pc version?

I don't know a lot about business so I might just be missing something but I just don't understand.

  16. just watched the awesome gametrailers single player preview video and saw one of the ghost's performing a knee slide to a wall corner and thought OMG .the drops look cool also reminding me of ghost recon 1 speed drops ,what i would like to know are these moves useable in multiplayer maps ?

because i heard a rumour the corner peeks did not make it in.

The dive is in the multiplayer but the slide is not....or that was my understanding.

You can still lean to peek around corners in GRAW's multiplayer, you just don't have the cover options you see in the single player.

  17. I actually think that we aren't getting any details given to us due to UBI not wanting the PC version to effect the XBOX 360 sales.  Once this is released then I reckon we will get a ton of info coming our way.

But that first days shopping for GR:AW XBOX 360 will be very important and UBI don't want people thinking "should I get the PC version 'cause it looks like a better game".

Only a theory, but could be right you never know.

    I don't see it.

This is just my opinion but they know the 360 version is going to out sale the pc version and probably fairly easy. Not that the pc version will not be just as good but if anything they should be pushing the pc version for sales because GRAW for the 360 will sale very well reguardless.

The pc version would not effect 360 sales by much....if at all.

    Just my opinion. :)
