OTS VIEW =CHEATING in my point of view .people hiding behind rocks in summit strike and still being able to see behind the rock is cheating and takes all the skill out of the game .
if you like the view fine anyway i had my moan
happy camping
i see what you are saying. however remember the game is cheating as well. cause i have never seen in real life the enemy being able to teleport directly behind you, after you have cleared the area behind you. Its also amazing how they can get single shot headshots, from a moving jeep, with a heavy machine gun. Cheating........sure. ...on both sides. FPS's can cheat just as easily my friend. i know because i did in unreal.

AFAIK, pro gamers tend to use lower resolutions, a 'blob' stands out more than a few pixels among millions. So you may be at a disadvantage with a HDTV, but at least it'll look cool.
ERRR ok, thats one of the strangest things i have ever heard. it that is the case why do high end gamers, buy such awesome displays. Fatality1 actually endorses a high end display capable of extrememely high resolutions, and he is one of the best in the world.
You may be right, but i personally dont believe so. i think HDTV will give you a definite advantage.

speaking of night maps. Are the day/night cycle on maps selectable. It always seemed a waste to me to fix them. You can essentially double the number of maps if you make them selectable.
i am guessing that is a negative. the descriptions pulled from the mp build serallen played on that one movie are pretty close to final i imagine, and it only had the one time of day listed. i too wish they were selectable

hey guys nothing big i pulled this from the mp video. this is 9 of the 10 mp maps.
Desert Gulch
A rocky desert landscape carved into channels by rivers long since dried, featuring rolling terrain. Ridges overlooking twisting paths make long-range engagement and close quaters tactics both viable options. Day, suitable for 8-16 players.
Rocky Cove
A coastal area, featuring tidal pools and an imposing ventral promontory, Beaches are littered with large rocks, and long sight lines invite marksmen to test their skill. Day , suitable for 6 -14 players.
Fishing Village
Dilapidated urban area gives way to a rustic fishing village near the shoreline, Features a rolling, open terrain, abundant trees, and thick underbrush, making tactical movement a key to victory. Day, suitable for 6 to 16 players.
Boneyard
A vehicle graveyard, with rusting aircraft parts and scrap metal piled all around. Tight quarters ensure no one is ever far from the action. Dusk, suitable for 2 - 8 players.
Dry Dock
Twin ships dry docked for repair with decks cluttered with shipping crates and construction equipment. Multiple catwalks provide opportunities for numerous over and under engagements. Night, heavy rain, suitable for 4 to 12 players.
Nowhere
A mountainous ghost town in the middle of nowhere. Featuring junkyards and abandoned buildings. Points of thick cover are seperated by stretches of open area, making tactical choices essential to success,. Day, suitable for 2 -10 players.
Old Town
An older urban area featuring a good balance between open streets and tight alleyways. A school yard, cafe, and contruction zone all set the stage for intense firefights, Day, suitable for 8 - 16 players.
Wharf
Jungle encroachers on coast in this waterfront village and open forest areas, are contrasted by the cluttered wharf build along the shoreline. With access both up onto and below the wharf, tension runs high on this nighttime map. Night, suitable for 4 to 12 players
Treasury
A governmental district area bordered by a park and market place with large open areas and a number of enticing sniper perches. A central bridge divides the map and provides a dominating high ground. Day, suitalbe for 8 - 16 players.

well i dont know any of the map sizes. but on that one screenshot that was released a month or two ago, that basically was from a press release. there was a picture of one of the mp maps from a top down view and it looked huge, lots of hiding places. it was that rocky map, that is kinda set in the desert, witht he trestle bridge.

Those are actually good questions and not ignorant at all.
Frankly I don't see how caseless ammo will affect gameplay in the least.
The point of caseless ammo is to reduce weight and also it allows for a gun that can simply have a gas exhaust port that can expel gases straight down or up, and so a left handed shooter will not be affected by hot cases ejecting in their face.
For those who don't think cases are hot, try catching one straight out of an ejection port before it hits the ground. I have burned my right arm numerous times at gun ranges when shooting my M16. In full auto mode one hot case always manages to bounce off of the right barrier and land on my arm.
The weight factor may not seem significant, but when you are carrying 300rds of ammo it adds up.
Also in the future when the production techniques are "perfected" the cost of having to enclose everything in brass is also a consideration. Of course right now the caseless ammo costs more to produce.
thanks for the reply. i read about the hk g11, and found that it can have 3 magazines attached at one time, and that each mag, holds 45 rounds of caseless ammo, giving someone carrying the gun around a total of 135 rounds, with out switching magazines, on an assualt rifle. Jchung, do you know anymore in regards to the hk G11, or the gun in GRAW (i dont know its name) thanks.

hey guys, can anyone explain to me the reason for gun manufacturers investigating caseless ammo, i mean i understand the advantage of not have to manufacture cases, and have the round completely self contained with no case ejection from the gun, but what are some of the other reasons. And why did they choose 6.8mm, or what ever the mesurement is. How do you think this will translate to graw, now that we know one of the weapons is a caseless. is there a gameplay advantage to the gun. just curious........christian?? can you answer
sorry for being ignorant, i did research a bit, but the sites i read werent very informative as to the advantages of it.

Hello everyone. REDCELL is currently recruiting for its GR:AW clan and
will be holding tryouts over the next few weeks leading up to the release
of GR:AW on 360. The REDCELL clan is made up of 3 squads
A Squad , and B Squad are primary competition squads, and C Squad is a holding
pen for trainees, new recruits, etc. REDCELL uses a ranking system of its own,
starting at private and working up to team leader. We currently have 4 members
after trimming away some unwanted people. So we are looking to fill our roster
with serious, tactical people who like to get a realistic squad experience out
of Ghost Recon. We are currently looking for people of all classes, gunner,
rifleman, sniper, grenadier, etc. Please be dedicated to your class, because we
prefer to always train with our assigned class. We ask that any REDCELL hopefuls
have the following things. Xbox 360 (or are getting one by the time graw comes
out or soon after), and preferrably ghost recon summit strike for xbox, to train
on in the mean time.
We actively play 3 gametypes
Squad: LMS
Co-op: Recon
Co-op: Mission
all gametypes are played on hard, with no enemies on radar. We never use lonewolf
weapons, and we practice fire discipline at all times. NO RUN and GUNNERS. Like
i said above we have about10 spots open. So please email me at
opsixdelta@hotmail.com. Upon becoming a new recruit you will recieve a PDF manual
detailing the clan, rosters, ranking system, expectations, etc. You will also
recieve a badge with your stated rank for use as an avatar. So if you are interested
email me back. We are already lined up to compete in 3 tournaments one month after
GR:AW releases.

We have but when GR2 was coming out they did a video walk through like thing.
The camera walked through and hovered over each map while one of the devs talked about each map. It was a really nice video.

yeah i remember that video, it was really cool, they should do that on the next 1up update. i am done hearing about the cross com and the technology behind my uniform.....that or they can show a video going through a bunch of the character customization stuff. that would be cool

wow that was a nice find moonwalker. i was just about to say i wanted more screen shots. heh,

For people starved for any demo info, i found this, and i did hear major nelson say this in his blog

^That a clan or something? Just curious guys....
I wish I had time to be in a clan but with a baby coming on the 10th of March I'll be playing when ever she lets me I guess.
Anyway, I'm really excited about GRAW. Looks like they went all out on this one and it's showing. On top of that they have been giving us media out the butt which is always good...though it makes it so much harder to wait.
Can't wait to play!

yeah we are a clan, we currently have 4 members, but are wanting to expand that, and get more members. We would like to get up to 12 members, to form 2 squads, and we are looking for mature, tactical , patient players, that like to play in a very organized manner. If anyone on these boards are interested in trying out for the clan, definitely send an email to opsixdelta@hotmail.com

Do you really want me to answer that???
If you really want me to than here it goes a small exsample,
SC:CT i paid $50 for and beat all the CooP in the first day & replaying it over and over again the 2nd day. Therefore i was returning the game on the 3rd day and losen money when it wasn't nothing more than a rental!
I love GR and the CooP has always been whats kept me coming back for more, but if i beat all the CooP in the first day and im back to replaying everything the 2nd day the game itself aint worth my $60 and is nothing more than a rental! Though this is not the route i want to take so unless GR comes with some kind of editor so we can keep mixxing it up i may just have to pass and rent it for a week. After all sounds like i well have it beat in the first day so a week should be more than enough and im not out of my $60!
very true, but thats where the customization is going to come in at.

yea I don't play AI at all really. Im speaking strictly Multiplayer against other humans. The spraying and general acradey feeling of how the weapons/ballistics/hit-detection worked is the thing that most frustrated me. It just wasn't challenging or fun anymore. It didn't really feel like you earned any of your kills because you didn't really have to be accurate.
thats true, .
-
If the ballistics and the hit detection are like they were in GR2 and SS, then it doesn't matter how tactical or slow you play or who you play with. In GR2 and SS you could spray full auto across the map and get kills. It's hard to be tactical and organize a rush on a position too when some jabroni is sitting behind a wall using OTS to get a sneak preview of your whole team coming. I don't buy the whole mouse and keyboard arguement either, because [GR] and GRIT for xbox were both very challenging and precise aiming systems where you had to use single shot and controlled burst to be accurate. You had to hold still to be accurate, unlike all the strafing and double joysticking kills that plagued GR2/SS multiplayer.
Myself and many others felt like the [GR] and GRIT engine and shooting worked extremely well, was challenging and made the game so much more enjoyable because it wasn't like coasting on auto pilot when firing the weapons. That's what myself and so many others that were fans of the first game are hoping for again. Hopefully even though GRAW is essentially using the GR2 engine again, it will be an evolution and everybody will be happy.
well i think graw is using something that is pretty far and away different than the GR2 engine. In addition to your comments, while the full run and spray method is way over powered and unrealistic in GR2 and SS, that shouldnt affect the way YOU play. YOU can play as tactical as you want, for example, when me and my clan play, although the ai and the people we play on live may not always be realistic or play very tactical, we are usually at an advantage because of the fact that we play very organized and everything. If you are saying that enemy ai that can run full on and spray bullets and still get a headshot is preventing you from playing tactically, then that is an issue you personally are having. In addition, i bought [GR] on the day it came out, and i am a huge fan of it, but i for one dont do what alot of people tend to do on here and completely fall in love with it. [GR] had some serious problems in the "realistic" department. Some serious problems, some other games have done better in some areas and worse in some areas, but i in no way consider [GR], as much as i love it to be a tactically real military simulator, there are just to many bs moments in the game, alot of them dealing with friendly ai, and ballistics. But again this is just my opinion, and obviously not shared by all. but i do understand what you are saying.

Here's a great idea. How bout releasing the PC version of the game on 360 a few months down the line including both SP and MP. Maybe branding it as a tactical expansion pack. This way Ubi would cash in, 360 owners would get the more tactical experience developed for the PC, new FPWV experience, and get to fight in mexico city in both SP and MP. A win win for everybody. More sales, more happy GR fanatics, and more quality FPS on the 360. Im sure porting it over would be easy on the pocketbook for the devs too.
well not to be negative, but not only would ubi never do this, it doesnt make any real sense to me. If i want to play GRAW pc......i will just buy it for pc. The 360 is not a mouse and keyboard gaming system, so i dont think graw for 360 needs to be like the pc version. Personally i am picking up the game for both, pc and 360 but i have to tell you i am far more excited about the 360 version. And as far a a "tactical experience on the 360" goes,. the game is really as tactical as you want it to be. My clan for instance plays gr:ss , and we play just as tactical as when i used to play with a clan on [GR]. Its the method of play here that i think is what you are refering to. But to be blunt, the 360 is not a pc. i wouldnt want the 360 version to support mouse and keyboard anyway, cause i dont wanna have a tv tray set up infront of my couch for a keyboard and mouse to play graw on my 42 inch hdtv. Plus anyone who has a 360 will probably tell you the controller is quite simply the best console controller ever, and (TO ME) far more comfortable for longer gaming sessions than a keyboard and mouse. Further more, yes it would be nice to play mexico city in mp, however i thought some of the 360 mp maps look amazing, the map where it is raining, for example, looks pretty great. There are positives and negatives to both pc and 360 versions of graw, and i think it is really the type of experience you want. And when i say that i dont necessarily mean tactical vs. run and gun. Because i dont buy that excuse, you play the game the way you want. and play with the type of people you want. I can for instance very easily runand gun in the pc version. So while i dont mean to be negative i will have to side on the fact that i believe this would be a bad idea and waste of time, time that could be spent making new expansions for both the pc and 360 version, both of which i plan on buying. ....
thats my two cents.

awesome, marketplace demo, i was waiting for them to confirm it. Going by the typical lead time so far for market place demos, like fight night and full auto, we could maybe expect this demo in a week and a half, or 2 weeks. I know i have been playing the fight night demo for what seems like a month already, and the game still doesnt come out for 2 weeks.
-
that may not be true, however likely it may be , you personally have no idea of the financial dealings with these type of things, you need to remember that each day a game is in production eats away at its overall budget, also remember that R&D cost money as well. So who knows, regardless the comment made about they dont owe us anything and that they have given us so much already is, i think pretty short sighted. I believe, in my opinion that the game industry is an industry that has a close relationship with its fans,. the reason this relationship is important is because unlike going to a movie where you are seeing a mans vision on screen, a video game cannot be a single persons vision, it needs to be played and experienced in a way that the player leaves with their own unique experiences,. so this requires fan feedback on what works and what doesnt. RSE are on these boards alot, and i am sure at least part of the reason is simply to see what the community is saying.

Going to be in NY 24-26 Feb ?
