check out this pic, it is a picture of the january issue of OXM, which is officially going to be the first OXM with "playable" xbox 360 demos. well if you look at the pic, there is a picture of the demo disc case, and you can see GRAW on the cover. this is speculative at best but hopefully this means we will get to play the GRAW demo very soon. I think this would be good for UBI, mainly because this game was getting a bit of bad press and they need to show people that things are on track. take a look

well, everything sounds cool, if not a bit mysterious, but the stuff you have divulged has gotten me excited about this game all over again. i pick up my 360 on launch day, but really i am just waiting till feb. to play this game. Can you answer me this though. how much customization do you have with your weapon load out. that was one thing that always dissappointed me with GR. i would like to choose say an M4, but maybe i want a suppressor, or maybe a scope, foregrip etc. are those type of options in the game. thanks.
No one has answered this, and I would like to know the answer about weapon customization as well.
I would like the option of going out with an Aimpoint and forgrip, or going out with an ACOG and m203 based on the mission.
thanks, i just signed on to kinda bump my question, but see that you have already addressed it, i couldnt understand why no one would just say "i dont know, nobody knows" but then people keep asking the same da.m question about red and green outlines for the 100th time. Anyway i was playin on live the other night with my bud and we were doing recon, on hard, no enemies on radar, which i just love, cause you really have to sneak around and cover each other. but the real problem comes when you do have to engage the enemy. There is no real weapon loadout that they give you to properly get the job done with out alerting everyone on the map, I really want the option of deciding wheather i want a suppressor, large capapcity mag, all that stuff, fore grip etc,. Also, they need to make time of day an option, i still dont understand what is with all the missions, in open terrain with no cover being done at what looks like 1 pm in the afternoon, on a bright sunny day. i am specifically talking more about GR2 and GR2 SS here, but i hope these two options make it in the game, because i think they are very very necessary and would add a whole hell of alot to the replayablity of the game. but of course no one seems to know these things, and they seem like pretty big ones to me. anyway heres hoping

hey ** Kimi **, nice write up, we appreciate it. but i have a question, you may or may not be able to answer. i have asked this alot in many forums but cant get a straight answer or any answer to be honest with you. how deep is the WEAPON customization. not gameplay options, but weapon loadouts. MEANING.... can i choose a rifle, then decide if i want a scope on it, or a suppressor, possibly a foregrip, etc. they have this in socom, and even though i hate that game, i love the weapon options, are they including this LONG OVERDUE feature in GRAW (pc or 360 version) ???? if you cant answer i understand, but if you can i really appreciate it. thanks

yeah i got my 360 as well, and i must say, there is a clarity to the graphics that are just amazing. especially on my hdtv. i am very excited about GRAW. i just hope that will all this great clarity we get some places to do some long range shooting.

Honestly, the game is not that far from being exactly what we all want. From what I've seen, the game engine / physics look just dandy. The envirionments look fun. There's only a few changes that NEED to be made:
-enemy outlining
-projectile tracers
-drones
-Kill Cam
-neon colors
*either drop all of the above or make them optional
-Make the reticule better
Who cares if the technology being implemented in GRAW is used by special forces. Tactics is what made the game popular. Victory was achieved by being the team that functioned together as one. The tactical elements of the game are being destroyed by the features listed above.
the only thing i would completely disagree with would be the use of drones. i see this as a nice move forward for this tactical series and an interesting move forward for all FPS games. One thing you have to realize is that special forces ever since vietnam, have been using things like this. Only instead of drones maybe green beret a-teams in cambodia were using indeginous forces as a tactical tool. Or maybe the way navy seals in beirut relied on intelligence from keyhole satellites , then using those coordinates and markers to direct off shore artillery barrages when they were in a jam. this is not future stuff, just tools that these teams use to tip the odds in their favor. Special forces are resourceful and brave, but read any of the books from those men, all the way from the 50's to last year and most will say they will take any advantage they can get. I think they could be both a reliance and a hinderance in battle. that makes for some interesting play if you ask me, the other stuff i agree with though

I don't understand the logic here by these developers. Why dumb down the game and make it more Arcadey and less "tactical, dry, and realistic" when you don't need to. The reason why the first Ghost Recon game and Island Thunder were so good on Xbox, was that they offered something different. = Ultra Dry, Tactical, 1 Shot Kill or be killed gameplay. People love sim style games where skill matters. Just look at the sales figures for [GR], GRIT, and Rainbow Six. <---- All of which were tactial, 1 shot kill sim style games that people loved. The numbers show it. [GR], GRIT, Rainbow Six were all at the top of the charts for sales and popularity on Xbox live. Why make such extreme changes in the core gameplay that made these franchises so popular when you already had such positive financial feedback, and such a huge fan base???
Lets just examine the 2 franchises and where they've come and gone.
GR and GRIT - precision and accuracy where a must(you couldn't kill someone shooting full auto across the map). 1 shot kills, weapons had deep variation in how they felt.
GR2 and SS- everybody walks around with full auto spraying across the mapp. No focus on precision and accuracy. Ballistics took a nose dive. OTS view allowed players to see around objects. Bullet lag
Rainbow Six and Black Arrow - Slow, sim style games where you had to use single shot and control your bursts to be accurate. Tactical ultra dry.
Rainbow Six Lockdown - Run around, Spray, Spray, ridiculous amounts of auto aim. No sense of realism or tactical play
Seeing a trend here ?
Gone are the days where using single shot meant something. The video's I have seen of GRAW break my heart. In the Gamespot interview with Serellian, it looks exactly like the same GR2 gameplay with some impressive visual effects. Have you seen this video? http://www.xbox-attitude.com/goodies-redirect-4523.html
Im sorry but spraying someone full auto from across the map with the ret totally bloomed out, and still getting kills is retarted. It's not realistic and not fun. I don't know 1 person that loved the [Ghost Recon] that doesn't think GR2 was a huge step in the wrong direction.
ERR, i disagree with you on how you say summit strike is played, i find it to be mostly skilled people on the higher rankings, who use team tactics and very very very rarely am i killed by someone on full auto unless he is a gunner. most the time it is long range rifles.

well i think we should make a decent intelligent thread with requests and or changes to what we have seen. maybe this delay means they are hears some fans and are retooling some stuff, they may be keeping an eye on the forums more. I for one think the consolse version can be a bit more like summit strike than say GR1. however outlines on soilders and other of the complaints we all know are due to be addressed.
-
also february is a significant delay as well i mean. what.....3 months, so at least 2 and a half months of extra development. do you think this has to do with reactions of the past week, ? guess so but to be fair they have been pumping GR games out pretty quickly maybe this extra time is a great thing for all the platforms
-
well, cant say i am happy, i mean this was the one game i was gonna get the 360 for at launch, but hopefully they will get the game ship shape before then and get a few of the communities requests in there. Until then i guess its more summit strike.
-
I really hope GRAW will follow the way to GR1 and different to GR2.
GR got famous with his 1st versions (it-ds) and people want to play GR1 with best graphics and maps.
GR2 is different than GR1. GR2 is not the same kind of game of GR1 it is just another game as can be Battlefield 2....
WE WANT GR1 IMPROVED AND WE DON'T WANT A NEW GAME (LIKE GR2).
WE WANT ONE SHOT ONE KILL
WE WANT 1ST PERSON VIEW
WE WANT A REAL GAME LIKE IF YOU GET FIRED YOU DONT HAVE TO KNOW WHERE THE BULLETS COME FROM!!!!
IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND IT????
I think we will not enjoy a game like GR1 never ever... developers died GR's spirit.

just to say, alot of people comment on the ots vs. fps view, GR2 and Summit Strike both had the first person view mode that you can choose by default. As well as in multiplayer you could make your server a FPS only server so no one was allowed to go OTS, .lets give it that at least. just an F.Y.I

While I am a PC gamer, that does not mean I can't comment on the console versions and no one will see me mistake one for the other. I know what platform the recently released vidoes are for.
That in turn is what drives my comments and questions. I know that those trails from the rounds are not in the PC version or that the colored outlines for that matter, yet even after repeated requests to dump them, RSE still implemented them as though the people who will be playing GRAW for X360 are kids.
There are so many people who wanted what the original offered, yet those very gamers (I would say that many of the console gamers here are 25+ easy) are getting something that 15 year old Halo players will like. I am trying not to speculate on how GRAW for X360 will play, it is obvious as to what the gameplay will be like.
hey white knight, do you feel like after talking to the guys from GRIN in your interview and what you have seen lately of the 360 version, (made by a different group i know) that you still have a lot of confidence in the pc version. Just curious as to your thoughts, i am still undecided really on which one to get pc or 360

Exactly!!!

I will (or will not) be playing this game on the 360.
i will say that i have seen 2 additional single player 360 videos and 1 multiplayer videos of graw and they DID NOT have the smoke trails nor did they have the hype color tie dyed zoom colors and such. maybe they are options and maybe they are temporary , or even put in there for some other reason. not sure.
-
those are good points wk, one area i would disagree with though
is the character creation mode , i do like to choose what i look like in mp, however in GR i think this is purely cosmetic, but it should affect gameplay, as in types of camo , face paint etc. especially for snipers , to adjust how easily u are detected by the enemy .... just a thought
-
interesting that ubi, would put that particular comment about their game on their site,. maybe they are thinking they need to acknowledge that it doesnt look like what the previously said was gameplay and now they want to shape i up. interesting indeed. not sure what to make of it.
-
Oh dear ... I ummmm, dont realy like that.
... I also feel bad having to feel that way too as so far things have looked real good.Grenades sound like marbles being thrown?
Whats with all the dramatic music?
Ummm, ive been hyped for a while but I damn sure hope this isnt like SP PC.
Well I guess "music off" will be my first menu audio options.
Umm, this footage has thrown me a bit ... it is console but it does make me super cautious not to go out and buy PC version on release before awaiting feedback here.
Heh, maybe this game will be like my sig LOL

i thought some sound effects were great, especially the bullets dinging off of objects and walls. NICE
but yeah, i mean it definitely seems to be the sequel to GR2 and not GR1. for some that is not a bad thing. I am really curious as to how open strategically these maps will be.
-
This gameplay vid actually gets me a bit more excited, this is what i envision graw for 360 will be like. I LOVE THESE SOUND EFFECTS

Actually it was one a year between the PC and console, remeber GR1 was supposed to be an Xbox launch title, but the consoles launch was delayed. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, not only one person feels that the PC gamers are owed something. I actually feel that way myself, but when you take a cold, hard look at it you can see why things are the way they are. The game industry is going in a certain direction, big companies, and big money. Companies like UBI need to make back the money they spend on development costs, marketing, licensing etc. These companies need to focus on the larger market, PC's aren't and haven't been for a very long time. Even when GR1 PC was released the PC platform was lagging well behind in market share and the void has continued to grow.
But honestly us PC folks look to be getting the better end of the deal this time, a game built specically for the PC, no other platform will see what we see.
exactly well put. i think i might buy it for both 360 and pc. may sound stupid but, i think they look to be so different its like different games. doublemint pleasure and all. i am a bit dissappointed that ubi didnt feature ghostrecon more at X05 though. i mean on a lot of site i have seen where they do polls, GRAW for 360 is always in the top 5 for popularity and interest. But i got the feeling by the amount of coverage for GRAW when compared to perfect dark, or others was that GRAW was in the back somewhere, being overshadowed by UBI's Splinter Cell 4 annoucement. I wanted a bit more info and gameplay videos.
-
One would think that with all the speculation running around all the sites about this loved game, that ubi rse or grin would have something to quell the fears of the PC players.
But as usual they are targeting the quick sale console market first and seemingly forgeting all about the players who made this game as popular as it is.
I would hazzard to say that if we the PC player had not kept this game alive you would have never seen the console platforms.
Some of us have been playing this game for over 4 years now. Can anyone tell me of one console game that had 4 years of playability.
are you serious ? this is the kind of moronic stuff that dumbs forums down to the level of videogame magazines. look. plenty of console games have lasted a long time. People still regularly play halo 1 for god sakes. I still play ICO for ps2, and ###### i play games on my 2600 from time to time. the problem is with people falling in love with platforms, YES ghost recon started on the pc and it was great, i own it too. But it was no where close to what i would call popular. That goes to rogue spear and the like. I dont know sales numbers or anything, but i believe ghostrecon was a pretty big success but it wasnt what you make it out to be, i love GR1 but face it, it has some pretty big flaws, every game eventually shows its flaws. they are not perfect, its code. lets stop treating these games as if they are perfect, they all have their pluses and minuses. i love GR1 and i love Summit strike, does that make me an easy sell because i love the xbox version too. no it doesnt. Look, i am hoping all versions kick ass, we will just have to see.
-
Well, look, i wouldnt get real excited about operation flashpoint. At least on pc, it was a fun game, and i thought in the larger sense it was an acurate depiction of war circa 20 years ago. However on a smaller scale alot of things in that game were really rough, unrealistic, and buggy. maybe that is fixed , we'll see.
i will say that a buddy of mine used to work at a game studio and that when they did games for these type of shows etc they would sometimes, change the color of the hud, or tweak certain aspects of the game so that it gave a better performance to the trade show crowd, and that it would be fixed for retail release, i hope that is happening here.
a good example is in the perfect dark zero gameplay movies, there are actually arrows on the ground showing you where to go. they have said that those will be turned off by default when the game ships.
-
to be honest with you i am a ghost recon classic fan, however i really loved summit strike, and will be playing it tonight. I will buy the 360 GRAW simply because i believe from what the developers say about online customization that you will be able to taylor the game to your liking, for example the diamonds, and other stuff. the gameplay videos on IGN.com, i though looked pretty awesome. I am still excited about this game, and i do think we should be cautious of reviews of the game based on a 10min play through on a build that may or maynot be old. who knows. i will know when the game is in my hand. but my excitement for the game is still there. they said it will be similar to summit strike and that gets me itching to kill people .......in a good way of course.

GR:AW demo in jan issue of OXM?
in GR:AW - Xbox 360
Posted
yeah and in addition to the fact that they have confirmed officially that a demo for the pc version of graw will be released in january, it only makes sense that ubi would get the 360 version of the demo as well. got i hope it releases on marketplace as well. that 10 dollar price point for OXM, is nuts,
