  1. I guess we all would like to know the minimum specs for playing GR:AW on the pc. Hopefully the developers/programmers will do a good job as half life 2 engine, to be able to have decent framerates and good lookin graphics at the minimum resolution of say 1280 x 1024. Some new game engines of 2005 have been demanding on computers, it seems like every new game engine needs a graphics card upgrade to play well. I'm struggling to get a balance between good framerates and some eye candy at 1280 x 1024 @60hz with new games tbh, and that's the truth. I'm saving for an upgrade to faster pc hardware, i'm looking at £400+ for the graphics card alone. Most games i have i play at medium settings and 1024 x 768 @60hz. Maybe the XBOX360 would be cheaper than pc upgrade. I was hoping my 6800GT would be good to go for another year at least but it's struggling even at medium settings in new games.

  2. Those Tagans have been tested several times and get good reviews.

They come with a load of cables/connectors that make them compatible with any board so unless its a hardware failure, your choice of psu and mobo works. And a nice choice btw.

Otherwise, Seasonic's models gets top reviews and there's always Enermax or Antec.

The first psu i got may of been faulty, but anyway i'm going to buy the a8n-premium and the tagan easycon 480, tagan psu i got now is very good. Of course the thing is do i bleed my self dry and go for the X1800XT 512MB or the 7800 GTX 512MB?
  3. http://www.tagan.com/pages/products/easyco..._tg480_u15.html

It's the lightblue, 3rd from the left and "yes" you need to make that connection, otherwise the system won't power up.

I can't work this out, i'll explain... i once tried the Tagan TG480-U1 480W black series on a asus K8N-E dlx motherboard, i connected the main power to mobo then connected the light blue P4 4 pin but i had no joy, pc refused to boot no matter what i tried, are some tagan psu's designed for xeon boards, btx only? I had to rma the tg480-u1, the supplier sent me a different tagan psu, one with an obvious 12v 4 pin connector black and yellow. Thanks for your reply Greyhaired, i might just look for another make of psu, tagan are a bit confusing with some of there psu's.
  4. hopefully its good =)

no pc news thoe   i wont be getting a x360 regardless

Sounds great for the 360. Need some more info on the pc version, later i guess? I want to know if the sky is dynamic in the pc version, i think dynamic means a realistic drifting cloud scene, ya know like say.. cloud drifts over the sun... then the sun bursts through giving a nice bloom fx. I like that realism, gives me the immersion.
  5. GTX 512MB very nice gfx card, a tad too expensive for me this time around. But anyway for those who can afford it....go get it and crank up to the max. It looks like i might go ATI this time, have never used any of there gfx cards but from what i read on lots of gaming forums ati gfx users say the iq is much better than the greens?. If ati can get enough R520XT 512MB to local e-tailors soon i'll be getting one of these i reckon, guess it depends what funds i got spare after paying the bills. I noticed on ati website they are advertising the R520 "fudo"? with ghost recon advanced warfighter, is GR:AW a DX9 api game? anyway i guess it'll look smart on any top dog vpu/gpu from the red or green corner.

A bit off topic, but whilst i'm here... I might buy the Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard and a Tagan [easycon series] TG480-U15 480W power supply unit. Ok right... i know that the 24 pin power lead from the psu connects to the 24 pin power connection on the motherboard but i can't see how you connect the 4 pin 12v power next to the cpu. Looking at images of the tagan psu i can't see a 4 pin power lead, so do you not need the 4 pin 12v power lead then? Every time i contact Tagan i never get a reply, maybe they are busy?

  6. I come hear to get away from the EA uk Battlefield 2 forum, Battlefield 2 for me is an awesome game i enjoy it very much, it's great fun. But oh man the ea bf 2 forum members (not all of them but most of em) just go on and on and on and on about things like sick of the stats, sick of the bomb runs, sick of the punish system, sick of this , sick of that.. c'mon ea/dice do something, do something now... bla de bla de bla.. moan moan moan, what a bunch of sissys. It's very depressing most of the time reading the threads and posts at Battlefield 2 EA uk forum. I think ea/dice did a excellent job on the game, i had one or two problems at first but i'm over that now. If they don't like bf2, then why the hell do they play it? I think they are sad and need to relax or get a life change or whatever. They demand a demo = not satisfied, they get a patch and another patch and another patch and free map = not satisfied, soon to be released expansion for bf2, lol.. it's unbeleivable.. now they want to boycott special forces expansion, bla de bla de bla... they are so funny in the head.

  7. WE'VE been hearing a lot about Ageia, the company that announced its physics processing unit. Lately we can not remember that a single week has passed that we haven't heard something about its Physics Processing Unit (PPU) cards. The company is certainly spinning like a top.

From the first day we learned about this product, the company planned to introduce its retail products sometime in Q4 2005 and this is exactly what is going to happen.

We spoke with some knowledgeable people and learned that some of those cards should be available and announced either in late November or in early December.

We know that Asus will be one of the companies selling such cards, and last time we checked, the estimated suggested retail price was $249.

Ageia plans to announce the cards with content as the chips and cards are already finalised, but you kind of need physically advanced demos and games to prove to the world that money is spent wisely.

We've seen an Ageia cardin action and it indeed looks cool, we think it will change games for the better, at a price of course.

  8. Yeah c'mon now don't get the munk punk!Heh i'm still looking forward to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC, it's good to know that there are great games to play in 2006.For me personally 2005 has been a somewhat dissapointing year for first person shooters, i'm realy only into modern combat.I enjoyed First To Fight that was great but there are no plans for an expansion or mod tools, but a great game for me to have played anyway. The only game for me this year that is awesome has to be Battlefield 2 because there is so much you can do with this ace game, no game as of yet can beat this,it's awesome, awesome gameplay, awesome graphics, awesome vehicles, the list is endless. Not everyones cup of tea though.I don't think GR:AW wil beat it, but that's my opinion, and before you say anything.. leave it out sprout.Lol.

  9. Your eyes enable you to view yourself in full color, even though color vision is not vital to life. The position of your ears gives you stereophonic hearing; thus you can locate the source of sounds.

ANOTHER superb organ is the human brain. It, together with the rest of the nervous system, is often compared to man-made computers. Of course, computers are constructed by humans and operate according to step-by-step instructions predetermined by human programmers. Yet, many people believe that no intelligence was responsible for “wiring” and “programming” the human brain.

Although extremely fast, computers handle only one piece of information at a time, whereas the human nervous system processes millions of pieces of information simultaneously. For example, during a stroll in the springtime, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery, listen to the song of birds, and smell the flowers. All these pleasant sensations are transmitted simultaneously to your brain. At the same time, streams of information flow from the sense receptors in your limbs, informing your brain of the moment-to-moment position of each leg and the state of each muscle. Obstacles in the footpath ahead are noticed by your eyes. On the basis of all this information, your brain ensures that each step is taken smoothly.

Meanwhile, the lower regions of your brain govern your heartbeat, breathing, and other vital functions. But your brain handles much more. As you walk, you can sing, talk, compare present scenes with past scenes, or make plans for the future.

“The brain,” concludes The Body Book, “is much more than a computer. No computer can decide that it is bored or wasting its talents and should embark on a new way of life. The computer cannot drastically alter its own program; before it sets out in a new direction, a person with a brain must reprogram it. . . . A computer cannot relax, or daydream, or laugh. It cannot become inspired or creative. It cannot experience consciousness or perceive meaning. It cannot fall in love.”

OF ALL the marvelous things on earth, none is more astounding than the human brain. For example, every second some 100 million bits of information pour into the brain from the various senses. But how can it avoid being hopelessly buried by this avalanche? If we can think about only one thing at a time, how does the mind cope with these millions of simultaneous messages? Obviously, the mind not only survives the barrage but handles it with ease.

2 How it does so is only one of the many wonders of the human brain. Two factors are involved. First, in the brain stem there is a network of nerves the size of your little finger. This network is called the reticular formation. It acts as a kind of traffic control center, monitoring the millions of messages coming into the brain, sifting out the trivial and selecting the essential for attention by the cerebral cortex. Each second this little network of nerves permits only a few hundred, at most, to enter the conscious mind.

3 Second, a further pinpointing of our attention seems to come about by waves that sweep the brain 8 to 12 times per second. These waves cause periods of high sensitivity, during which the brain notes the stronger signals and acts upon them. It is believed that by means of these waves the brain scans itself, in this way focusing on the essentials. Thus an amazing flurry of activity is going on in our heads every second!

4 In recent years scientists have made tremendous strides in studies of the brain. Even so, what they have learned is nothing compared to what remains unknown.

  10. Harntrox isnt hard to please, but look at it from his point of view.  He comes from a modders stand point.  He gets his kicks out of designing the maps, game types, and mods that we players enjoy playing.  If GRAW doesnt offer a complete modding standpoint, then I think it will be a failure, no matter how good the graphics are or the storyline.  I mean how many of you all actually played all of the single player missions from GR Classic and the two Mission packs all the way through??? Noone. We stopped, said "this is stupid". And we made our own missions.  Why?  BECAUSE WE COULD!!!!  I know a few guys who =FC= introduced to the game recently and they are doing some BASIC modding now. Even four years later.  Modding continues and its a huge feature and drawing point of the game.

Since UBI wants to be as vague as possible concerning GRAW,  Its justifiable that people are getting anxious.   We all go from what we DO know, precedents set.  Harn is going from his, we all are going by what we DO know.  And to boil it down.... isnt much.

So this leaves us to interpolate an image from all available means.

    GRAW's image doesnt look good.

    Can you say BitTorrent????

I played all the way through GR1+DS+IT.
  11. PPu... Ummm... nice i guess? I gonna buy the ATI R520 XT 512MB, just looking over at the ATI website, shows GR:AW.Maybe optimised for the ATI 1K series?. I was hoping to play GR:AW on the new card.Lol looks like it's a no go for the minute, but you never know, maybe get a demo of GR:AW?

  12. It's always annoying when you have to wait for something you really long for. On the other hand, I have waited about 4 years now so what's another 3 or 4 months if the game is going to be as rock hard cruel as most of us hope? If these extra months for the PC dev team gives them the opportunity to add extra features and fine-tune the already implemented ones, balance gameplay into perfection and so on, I will be more than happy to wait a little while longer.

Ummm... look at half life 2, what.. five years or so in the making and when it was released it had issues. I expect bugs and problems in new game releases all the time, they should just release it as is and let us beta it. That's what i did with Battlefield 2, even with issues, but hey you still get to play the game.
  13. I'm still waiting for a demo for S.T.A.L.K.E.R shadow of chernobyl. Be great to have a playable demo of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.I was just thinking.. All the games out now, when Windows Vista is here will the games be patched to work in Vista? I'm sure we have a beta vista edition in june 2006?
