  1. It appears so, and so is the industries mindset. Rumours speculate the next consoles from sony and microsoft may not have an optical drive?. The pre-owned video game market is under scrutiny it appears. I know i wouldn't buy a pre-owned game then an online pass to play. With broadband being fair priced and relatively/easily accessible now days to just about everyone at home, digital online download services might eventaully do away with physical media?. Will sony allways have a free PSN where you can play online for free?.
  2. I can understand where 101459 is coming from and the concerns for what exactly is the PC version?. Well according to the official ubisoft GRFS PC forum the PC version is identical to the console version, the PC version is the enhanced version, but that is yet to be fully realised by the end user i suppose, (or until reviews of the PC version start showing up around the web). That one PC screenshot is taken by the games player at the cinematic part, so there is motion/movement which could/would cause the blur effect, you go from a short cinematic mission insertion with no control from checkpoint to checkpoint or at specific locations on the map, i think it's to give a sense of seamless/smoothly continous transition (a bit like Max Payne 3's approach) straight into the actual playing of the in-game character (kozak i believe). I would be very suprised indeed if the console version has greater graphic fidelity than the PC version. Remember though that GRFS can be played with the DirectX 9 render path so if the DX11 effects are too much maybe dx9 will remove what you don't like to see in game?. The XBOX 360 version of Splinter Cell Conviction is identical to the the PC version in just about every way (i still play both versions to date) but the PC version looks a lot sharper/smoother, i might go out on a limb and say that the PC version of SCC has a higher texture resolution. I chose SCC because of similarities in some assets/chararcters etc to GRFS, if i'm honest i can't see PC GRFS 2012 having lesser graphical fidelity than PC SCC 2010 especially in DirectX 11 or maybe even in DirectX 9.0c?. BUt yeah some more PC info wouldn't go a miss, haha.
  3. Still waiting for a beta key, ha. They did actually contact me through email, not long now i suppose.
  4. I guess we have to take this pic above as a real PC screenshot. It's certainly not the best but the camera/view/angle behind the Ghosts is showing them walking out of building, the behind third person camera is still inside that's why i think it is darker, sometimes you get a lighting effect from darker areas to lighter or sunlight outdoor areas, there is blur effect too, i personally like the volumetric fog, and, it looks like the antialiasing technique is working on the wooden struts to the right. I have seen much worse than this in pc games. Can't wait for more pc info though
  5. In all fairness the official wording on the game type is correct, that's what siege is, makes sense to me. It will be the no respawns some might complain and probably the lack of full freedom to roam the outskirts of the map without triggering the out of bounds alarm, haha.
  6. If it was a game you are anticipating would you view the extra in-game content as a rip off still?. For less than £10 i think that is fair pricing. I sometimes can't differentiate between DLC and expansion packs, except maybe expansion packs would have more in-game content but at a higher price. Do you mean to say that the announcement of DLC is too early?.
  7. No idea m8, it was the same with Splinter Cell Conviction PC back in 2010 although i think we got more PC info before release but the xbox360 version was the main selling/advertised platform, i also think it was/is the same with Assassins Creed PC games. For someone like me though i'm not too bothered because i will be playing the 360 & PS3 version first anyway.
  8. I came to the conclusion that Ubisoft want to push the console version first then give all the PC information in june?. Max Payne 3 PC will be released here in the UK 01/june/2012 that's two weeks before GRFS PC.
  9. Thanks for the videos. Can you choose the difficulty (regular, veteran, elite) in Guerilla Mode solo.?. If you play Guerilla Mode solo you get less enemies, is this correct? (assuming you have played Guerilla Mode with a friend/s?). Thanks again.
  10. I tested Gunsmith Free Mode on Ghost Recon Network from the UK to the candian website where GRN is-with three popular browsers and it just works, it's very smooth indeed, it might be your region then?. I can't connect to some websites, for example i can not connect to ms xbox-world.com, it's just impossible, i have tried a few different browsers, just no joy, strange.
  11. Not a bad write up but i'm suprised to read his opinion on the sound, he claims it was pretty average, but he doesn't explain on what sound system he was using?. And he says in that write up ..."Graphically, the GRFS looks like it should have been released two years ago. After seeing some of the trailers and gameplay shots of this title over the years, I was expecting mind-blowing, ground-breaking visuals. In all honesty… it’s forgettable. The graphics aren’t bad, but they certainly aren’t on par with some of the more impressive releases over the last year". It's not the only time i have read or heard someone say the Graphics are mediocre, i wonder if this is because of the monitor/tv in use?, i connected my PC monitor (ASUS VG236 120Hz 3D) to the XBOX 360 (HDMI) at about 3 feet away from the screen and looked great, but on my HDTV it looks different but much better the further away from the screen as possible (at least 6 feet away from screen). I'll just have to disagree with his opinion here but the PC version should look even better. Nice to know there are night missions "Both of the missions shown to journalists in Paris featured the loose, open-ended, multi-track approach that made the Ghost Recon series a hit to begin with. In one, the team was tasked with infiltrating a compound filled with Russian soldiers. Here, the progression was divided between scouting the terrain – using sensor grenades and a UAV drone – and positioning the squad to cause the maximum damage, then taking out multiple targets simultaneously. The players had dense foliage and the odd building to hide behind for the most part, but the level also featured a rather difficult boss battle in the form of a tank that rolled in midway. The second mission was set at night and the squad started outside a Russian airfield. While infiltrating the grounds and picking up a package were the main objectives, stealth was the order of the day, as if one member of the team was spotted, the mission was over. To that end, the squad needed to stick to the shadows, take cover behind vehicles and containers parked on the runway and do everything they could to ensure that none of the bodies they left behind could be spotted". 12. Thanks for embedded videos, much better to watch like this i think.
  13. There are quite a few people having issues accessing GRN, here is the official FAQ. It might help?. How can I join the Network? You just need a free Uplay account, and a gaming platform (PS3/X360/PC) linked to your Uplay account. In the beta, you can only link your console from the pop-up Uplay screens that appear when you launch the beta – make sure to complete this process if you want to access the GRN. In the final game, you will be able to both link your console from those pop-up screens and from the Uplay section in the menu. Warning : without this link, your weapon customization and statistics can’t be connected to the Network. The Network will be partially up and running during the GRFS MP Beta starting April 19th, and will partially shut down after the beta. It will be available again at launch. How much will I have to pay each month for the service? The GRN is completely free. More info here Ghost Recon Network FAQ
  14. What browser are you using to watch them?, i'd like to view them but IE9 nor FF 12 will allow it, strange indeed.
  15. A forum member over @ the official ubisoft site said ...It does work on Galaxy S that's been loaded with Android 4 Ice Cream. of course doing so is at your own risk as the full Android 4 is not officially supported by Samsung for the Galaxy S. 16. The lock ups are annoying, although i have had only two, i have no choice but to switch off the 360 console, also i have experienced one host migration glitch which left me unable to do anything whilst in-game in a match round for approx 10-15 seconds. Connecting to ubisoft servers are hit and miss, sometimes i get in other times no joy but to exit to xbox home, and try again later or whenever. I'm on a 50+ mbs fibre optic connection at my place. I have to say i'm now anxious about the full xbox360 lockups when playing the mp beta. Although the console is ok it's still annoying, not good if this is random though. Is the console at risk with the lockups?, i certainly would stop playing if it was a PC beta, there is no way i would power off the PC like that.
  17. No joy. I tried to watch these earlier, after 56 seconds in the first video in that list switches to buffering and never does anything, then i get lost connection to the whole site, ha ha. maybe someone will upload to youtube?. Other than that, pants, i can't view them. tried two different browsers (IE9 and FF 12).
  18. Someone mentioned they should of had moving targets on the test range, that would of been fun. Many are complaining about the competitive multiplayer, but the campaign and guerilla mode sound like heaps of fun with gunsmith. In some ways it remids me of GRIN's weapon loadout screen in GRAW, slightly
  19. Sorry that was probably my fault , it went from collectors edition to mod tools . Going by ubisoft's recent titles i doubt there will be any mod tools?. DLC stands for Downloadable Content.
  20. Works great in internet explorer 9 and firefox 12, in firefox 11 kept getting bad file length. It's quite good i suppose from a social aspect, reminds me of battlelog but with some extras.
  21. I suppose if you unpack a mod that is in a zip file and copy&paste into the game folder like what was done with PC GRAW series that would be ok?, but what if the mod has a bat file like Brettzies weapon mod, how would you bypass the launcher?, i can only go from Splinter Cell Conviction which you had to run the ubi game launcher to play the game, although someone made a modification for SCC by tweaking the game files, but only single player. I honestly don't think there will be any mod tools for the PC version, i think we are getting the same as consoles, matchmaking, Uplay unlocks, DLC?. But it's all guess work from me ha ha
  22. I wonder how this will work with UBI Game Launcher and Uplay and even maybe their anti-cheat software?, i suppose a mod tool intergration within the game is not impossible, but do you think they will do this though?, i doubt it personaly, but who knows what is planned?.
