I couldn't find the limited edition at asda so settled for the normal vanilla one. I noticed in the games menu you click on multiplayer and scroll down to "redeem code". day one patch gave two new maps, nelson bay and laguna alta, i believe one is for rush mode and the other is conquest. The single player is ok, the other three characters have humorous chit chat along the way. Collectables to be found in single player (don't think they carry over to the mp side though?). Sp is quite linear for the most part, there are around 5 different sound setting filters you can apply on the fly in game pl

I suggest you to go on a clan server where punkbuster is on.If punkbuster is off then it's at your own risk. I'm sure there are many decent honest servers out there, it's just finding them . You could try =MGUK= they say they have streaming to PBbans.com with MD5 checks etc. -
Metro 2033 - Game discussion thread
=warcloud= replied to Pave Low's topic in Shooter games (FPS & TPS)
Some interesting reading about metro2033 (4 pages) on DF's blog over at eurogamer, DF = digitalfoundry. Below is some snippets from the Tech Interview: Metro 2033 dated feb 25th, 2010. What i found interesting was finding out that Oles Shishkovstov who is chief technical officer of 4A Games who are developnig metro2033 was working as lead programmer and technology architect on S.T.A.L.K.E.R., maybe that's why i viewed metro2033 as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. -esque, although.. there is no shared code whatsoever between the 4A and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. X-Ray engines. Metro 2033 is console-exclusive t -

What i would like added = stand alone dedicated server files What i would like to see removed = DRM/protection ...of any kind. -
Which View, 1st Or 3rd and Why?
=warcloud= replied to WhiteKnight77's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Option to choose tpv for single player. What's reralism got to do with it really?. The ArmA series is a war simulator video game, probably the most realistic shooter out there and it has option for third person view, nothing wrong with it, get over it already you kittens, meowww!, lolz. Oh i forgot to add why ?, third person view is great for seeing your avatar and his/her uniforms and gear/weapons and watching the animations, it's brilliant and a really cool perspective. -

Metro 2033 is very s.t.a.l.k.e.r. -esque imo. This is the first time in a long time i have seen so many first person shooters being available to the pc market in such close proximity of each other, usualy have to wait a lot longer for the next fps game to show up. -

Good to know, i will buy this game i reckon ?. Is it tied to steam ?. -
Bit of a cop out from dice i reckon, everything has been done a while now. When you think about what some UNPAID individuals can do in a week or even a couple of days to enhance and even improve games with just basic mod tools is amazing, so no excuse for publishers or devs when they have top notch studios to work in. But no worries, still looking forward to the sp game, mp will be fun for a while until the exploits and hacks start showing up more, i guess i can be in awe of the soft dx11 shadows Quote "If the community later collectively agrees that Eyefinity is an actual big advantage

=warcloud= replied to Pave Low's topic in BattleField series
Is it basic dumbed down admin control on ranked servers?, there are unranked servers seen in the beta so why have ea/dice not given us the option to use our own servers?, why would anyone pay for unranked servers?. No mod tools as well, tight fisted lot -
Your not getting what i'm pointing out. The only dx11 feature dice implemented in bc2 was soft shadows, no mention of advanced shadows or tesselation, hardly anything dx11, oh maybe a slight tweak lol. That's why i said what was the point?, might as well of used the time extending the single player campaign. Think about it, what does soft shadows really give a gamer?. And i have read dx9 render path in bc2 is faster for some.

Ubi PC Titles To Require Online Authentication
=warcloud= replied to CR6's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
Let us know how the game installs from start to finish if you don't mind mate. Let us know what ubisoft master server is like, and could you give us a quick insight to what game engine they use, and are the graphics rubbish, mediocre, bland. I'm still thinking about buying splinter cell conviction for the pc but there is no information i can find about the engine, the graphics etc. I have a small games cash flow left so i don't want to waste money on a poor pc version of sc conviction, it would make me really angry if the game is rubbish and have to be online constant to play sp. Ubi PC Titles To Require Online Authentication
=warcloud= replied to CR6's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
The more i think about this the more i get annoyed, it's a bad authoritarian system as it is for crying out loud. The fact is ubisoft, no company will ever stop unauthorized reproduction of any software. You will lose revenue from the criminals anyway and you have lost my vote lads and lasses, no wonga from me peeps until you sort out this single player malarky. -
These devs focus more on the windows platform first, ubisoft video game devs focus more on console first and what fits best with consoles, pc is an after thought to them really, that's how i see it anyway. More to the point though, say us pc gamers get all features we could want, what's the point if ubisoft don't allow the use of dedicated server files and mod tools.
-
The primary uses of DX11 in Bad Company 2 is to soften all the dynamic shadows as well as to improve performance in general with a few smaller DX11 optimizations that we are using. Was there any point in this?, i would of rather the devs focused on extra levels/missions in sp.

Ubi PC Titles To Require Online Authentication
=warcloud= replied to CR6's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
The new Aliens v predator for pc is tied to steam client and you can not play this game in offline mode. EDIT: Ahh... i started avp in online mode then cut the power to my modem, can now play sp in offline mode. steam client is a bit unpredictable for me at times. i wish i could go back to the days of proper pc gaming, buy the game, install game, play single player without all these annoyances. I think i'm going to give future soldier and splinter cell conviction for the pc a pass until someone comes up with a better plan to play. -

If this protection method does not go to plan then happy are we, but i hope ubisoft can patch their games pronto so we can at least continue to play their sp games in offline mode (aka normal mode). -

Watching the youtube vids. 1 mp map named port valdez snow conditions in "rush" mode 16 v 16 normal mode or hardcore, ranked and unranked, team kill off or on, punkbuster enabled. Rush to objectives, take out objectives, run squat shoot, rush to next objective, rinse and repeat. Good graphics and physics, the destruction is cool, variable game sound filters. Fun fast paced fighting. Prone would encourage too much camping in such a medium sized map imho. -
