ONE thing you would like to see added OR removed
=warcloud= replied to Kimi's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Oh well, let's see how things go but i read a q&a on the splinter cell conviction ... Will the NPCs be at the same place every time you play the co-op modes?, When playing Deniable Ops, the enemies are distributed by the game with a certain degree of randomness. Every time you play a Hunter map, for example, the AI set up will be slightly different. In Prologue (the story mode), some NPCs start out as part of scripted events, so they may be in the same spot depending on how long the player takes to reach them; but most won’t because they will be in patrol or idle behaviors that -

Can't seem to find a normal pc copy at retail only the exclusive limited edition with a free exclusive copy of red faction guerilla, and from a metro2033 dev on twitter .."lots of questions about a Metro 2033 demo - there won't be one pre-release, we simply don't have time". Maybe a demo after ?. -
Splinter Cell: Conviction - Demo planned
=warcloud= replied to Tinker's topic in Action-adventure Games
Well, i guess with scc being a microsoft exclusive, maybe a pc demo after retail?. I noticed on the official scc forum there is plenty of excitement about the xbox360 demo, and if you notice there is a march 12 dev q&a update, i presume 2010 haha..."Sam is using a modified Five-seveN with an integrated suppressor, not yet available in the civilian or even military markets; it’s pure R&D material. More shots, nice. If i may ask you thales100 ..how do you go about login in to play sp?, is it uplay or ubi.com?, do you have to have a ubisoft account, like a forum account?, did you say you have the steam version? how does that work?, thanks. -

Yes you're correct even the devs lend a helping hand with post replys on "how to use the tools", but i wonder why they themselves didn't use this in the sp campaign?, even in this game the ai enemy soldiers are predictable and appear and are stationed in the exact same locations no matter how many times you play through a particular mission, or is this incorrect observations on my part? . I enjoyed this games sp campaign and even more so in co-op, but it's been a long time since i played but from what i recall the enemy ai were always in the same spots through each level, but they wer -

I think this is too difficult for game AI programmers to do. I have not seen game artificial intelligence enemy (NPC AI) change position or have different weapon loadouts at the restart of a in-game level or during a death sequence of the player character and starting at the last save position. It seems to me to be way too complicated to program such dynamic artificial intelligence. How can a "chip" made up of silicon and wires do something that seems like it requires human thought?and how does a games AI programmer write the software do this?, boolean logic?, dynamic scripting?, i think it -
DRM mentioned by Gabe Newell.
=warcloud= replied to Rocky's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
What will your $60.00 game be worth when and if you tire of it and decide that you want to pass it on to someone else?. I should imagine by the time anyone would want to pass a pc game on it'd be worth nothing in monetary terms anyway. For me personaly it's about keeping the original case manual and disc, i still have the original splinter cell fold out case and discs and the first ghost recon + ds + it in their original package. You can't sell steam purchased games unless you sell on the account attached to it, which would mean for every game purchased you'd have to make a specific account f -

Good to know. -
Enjoyed watching that, i liked the drop down move, a jab , drop the ai then a boot to the face. This a pegi 18?, must be, quite violent and i heard elsewhere the language is very bad?. I'm still interested in purchasing a copy for the pc though.

Aroused admiration, impressive shots m8. I never played the first AC, would like this game but i'm going to get splinter cell conviction pc version first i think (funds permitting). How is the always on sp connection going?, i have tried games for windows live on windows 7 x64 in sp on a couple of games and never had a hiccup that ruined the sp experience tbh. Oh forgot to ask you thales100, is ac2 using dx9 only?. -

DRM mentioned by Gabe Newell.
=warcloud= replied to Rocky's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
One of the earliest prominent uses of online-based DRM technology in a AAA title was the result of Valve's decision to bind half life 2 to the steam platform. This was met with considerable protest from the gaming community and a number of legal challenges were submitted, including consumer groups. At least with steam (aka trojan horse ) you can play sp offline -
Will download this, i just downloaded the ACE2 & ACEX etc stable versions, no need of the six updater anymore. Just remember to unpack the zipped userconfig file into your ArmA2 directory. Thanks to Armaholic for the downloads and of course sickboy, nice one people

=warcloud= replied to Pave Low's topic in Shooter games (FPS & TPS)
On the games official site there is mention of metro2033 being single player only, it said, on a twitter reply ...we focused 100% on SP so expect a longer campaign than most recent FPS's, + lots of replay-ability. -
love your screenshots....as usual.... some of the water scene is almost Crysis like? I'm a SP player, so my questions lean to that. So if I play tactical on this game....mean slow approach I can do that? So is the SP more like COD4MW? (not mw2) hows the replayability? Graphics are great for the most part, some very talented artists work at DICE. You can use tactics but the level of use is nowheres near [Ghost Recon] or graw series or even crysis. There are silenced weapons you can collect along the way and i guess you could put them to use but bad company 2 is very action packed,

Am I reading this right, got it last night and already finished the SP campaign? If so how darn short is the SP campaign? Must of been on easy mode and got time to waste, or rushed it and a top notch player . I thought the sp campaign was short but actualy it's as short or long as you want it to be. About the same as most other shooters. Play the game on hard mode for a start. I got the game friday, been playing steady over the weekend, still haven't finished the sp, and i'm in no rush to either, what's the rush?. Very good game, one of the best for me personaly. Its longevity is in th
