  1. Hollers gave some good tips, so I'll just expand on some of his and add some of my own. I only play LMS, but most of these tips work for everything.

"For general stuff, most people use M8 carbine, M4 Scope or T95. You'll find the best players tend to use these weapons most of the time, no matter what they're doing, because they're jack of all trades. You can snipe, you can go full auto, and you can move quickly about."

"Don't forget that on most maps and on most games esp things like LMS Quarry, it's a race to get to the best spots quickly, that means not wasting time choosing your weapons, crack on with the M8 straight off the bat. You run quicker stood up, than you do crouching."

This is very true. I actually prefer the T-95 but end up using the M8 almost everywhere because it saves time to just 'hit A and run' with the M8 than to shuffle through the weapons to pic my fav. People often spend so much time picking their weapons that by the time they get moving, the opposing team has already taken ground and is in position. You can tell how experienced a player, or team, your playing is by how fast they pick their weapon and get out of their spawn. The faster the better. Getting very good with the M8 will save you time and make you better since it does everything well.

Another tip is to learn to put your weapon on full-auto 'on the run' instead of standing still and doing it from the start, it only saves you a couple of seconds but on maps like Quarry or Bunkers that can make a real difference against good players. Do this by pushing foward on the left thumbsitck with your left thumb, which makes your character run in a straight line, while you also take your right fore-finger and hold down the 'A button' and use your right thumb to press down on your directional pad, selecting your gun to 'full-auto'. It's awkward but easily done, and your guy never stands still! The faster you get off the start, the more times you'll hear your opponent's saying "How did you get there so fast!?" when the games over.

"Using any gunner weapons means you move more slowly, especially sideways, so you may prefer a riflman weapon where you can dodge incoming fire much better."

This tip is also very true. For me, the much poorer accuracy, and stability, of the gunner weapons compared to the rifleman weapons means I never use them, despite their greater ammo capacity. Many one-on-one upclose encounters turn into wild, twisting 'run and gun' fights. You'll often see two guys, maybe an arm's length away, bobbing and weaving as they shoot at each other, trying to dodge the other one's fire. Because they are moving about themselves, their own fire will be wildly inaccurate. The lighter rifleman weapons ,like the M8, do not move around so much as the much heavier gunner weapons, and can maintain a more accurate fire while you are bobbing around. Hence, the rifleman weapons can be much more effective than the heavier gunners in these close range fights even though they have much less ammo capacity, because the user can dodge faster and fire more accurately on the move than a player using a gunner.

Another tip is to keep your sight reticle at an opponents chest level whenever you run around. You most often encounter people standing up, so if you turn a corner and find yourself looking at a bad guy, you want your first shots to be aimed were it will do the most damage, the chest or head area. It pays to always have your reticle up that high. You dont want to walk around with your reticle looking at the ground when you encounter someone.

Another tip is getting good at 'snap shooting' or 'pop shooting', I've heard it called a few things. If you get good at this you will get a ton of kills doing this. Using your directional pad to lean out, fire a single shot or burst, and then pop back in again is VERY usefull, especially in maps like Pagoda, Quarry, basically any map where you encounter alot of corner fighting. This definately takes alot of practice, the trick is to do it as quick and accurate as possible. You pop out fast and fire, and then duck back in. If you missed your opponent by a little, then adjust your sights FROM BEHIND COVER depending on how off your first burst was, then you pop back out and shoot again. If you pop your head out and fire, then stay out there to adjust your fire you will probably be shot before you can duck back in. Sometimes I've done this in Pagoda with three different opponents shooting at me. In that situation you really cant take more than a fraction of a second to pop out, fire, and pop back in. Adjusting your fire behind your cover means you have to guess were your sights will land when you pop out. Once you get good at this, it will really ###### people off because they will be sporadically shooting at the corner your behind, then be stunned as you pop out an kill them with a well aimed burst.

Another tip is more common sense, always hit reload. You'd be surprised how many people run into opponents with ten rounds in their weapon because they forgot to hit reload in all the excitement. I do it almost compulsively now, whenever I'm running around I sporadically hit reload just out of habbit, and that way I never go into a gun fight with less than a full magazine of ammo to use.

Another tip is more my personel preference, but it might be usefull for you. Get good at 'shooting from the hip', as in shooting without scoping in. I hardly EVER scope in unless I'm fighting a sniper head-to-head, wich is rare. I go through whole games without using it. It allows me to see movement over the whole screen, and instantly fire at it if it's the enemy. With practice, you'd be surprised how well you can shoot without ever zooming in. When you watch other people play, you will constantly watch them fail to see opponents quite close to them on their screen because they were zoomed in. But whatever works for yah.

Lastly, learn the maps' 'traffic patterns'. Every Map has areas were people naturally flock to more than others, people are very predictable in this game. Whether on offense or defense, theres a few choice spots on each map were people naturally go to. Once you learn these, then finding opponents and getting kills will be much easier.

Thats it. Remember, despite the trash talking online, it's only a videogame so dont be afraid of being agressive and trying new tactics. Being scared and staying in the rear while the rest of your team dies wont get you any friends, or very many kills.
