I'm gonna wait a few days before I start messing with it again, and I'm gonna ask a few people who know alot more about computers than me if they can take a look at it, because I don't want to accidentaly mess up the good component. About trying a new memory stick, I couldn't even if I wanted to because there is no one I can think of that I can bum a stick of DDR off of, everyone I know either has RD, or SD, so I stuck there. I'll see what happens this week and maybe my computer teacher has components that are compatable with my system, that he will let me use to determine what the damaged co

Hans Zimmer is the man.... I can suggest the entire soundtrack from the Rock, I noticed you already know about it but the tracks from the soudtrack that are really good are 1,2,4,5,6,and 8.

To see frame rate open the consloe and type "toggleshowframerate", without the quotes, and if you wish to turn the frames per second off do the same thing and they will go away.

The HD is fine it spins up when I power up, I definately gonna ask my teacher, and I have to think if I know someone I can get another P4 from thats compatable with my board, I was leaning towards a CPU or MOBO faliure, but I'll see what I can do to determine which one is toast. I wish I had locked down the dumb HSF from the start, because what I saw of this system it kicks serious butt and I was so looking forward to paying some GR on my new system today, with my bigger monitor, instead of the 14 inch one I was using to set it up with. Thanks for all the help Dark Ranger, its is greatl

Check the "Recon" section for manual uninstall directions, I don't know if you already followed them, but thats the only thing I can think of that may help you out.

I for got abput this, when I was able to get to the BIOS the last time this was the message about the cpu, "During the last boot up, your system hung for an improper CPU setting. Your system in now working in Safe Mode. To optimize performance and reliability, make sure the CPU speed conforms to the specifications of your CPU" Every thing ws correct, and then the BIOS froze.

The screen is still, blank even with another vid card, the mobo has on board sound but I disabled it in the BIOS and installed a Santa Cruz. The only other component I can try to use in that system is my vid card and I already did. The HS was off for about 30 secs and then the system turned itself off to protect the cpu from damage, I immediately checked to see what I messed op and clamped the hs down (that was the biggest mistake I can think of in the whole process of building) but the computer ran fine afterwords and I was able to install the OS, install the vid drivers, sound drivers, all

I tried my geforce 2 and it didn't work so its down to the mobo cpu, and ram, I guess I'm gonna have to call either Asus, Intel or Crucial This kind of stuff always seems to happen to me, last night it was running fine then it freezes and won't boot up proprely, then it teases me with showing the bios and telling me to check the cpu settings and now it does nothing, I hope this all wasn't a big mistake on my part, building this thing.

I've narrowed the problem down to either the mobo, cpu, vidcard, or ram, I pulled everything out, check for lose screws and metal, masde sure I had the right amount of standoffs and screws, I even pulled the hd and the system still won't boot, I'm gonna try and use my pci geforce 2 to try and eliminate the vid card as the problem.

I wasn't using an anti static strap, but made sure I continusly touched the outside of the case before handilng any components. Off to the basement to rip it a part. <------ crossing fingers saying, please be something simple thats wrong.

I already tried that it didn't work It just looked at me and said, uh no.

I've got a pretty smart computer teacher, and another person I can ask who knows alot about computers and offered to help me if I needed it. But I'm still open to suggestions from forum members, maybe I just messed something stupidly simple up.

The psu is fine, I may have fried something, what I have no idea, may be the bios chip or something, I think the cpu is fine but I have no way to tell, I hope other people can give me some advice, but I'll search around to see if I can't dig up any info, or I'll wait unitl monday and ask my computer teacher if he wouldn't mind taking a look at if for me.

The comp sent me directly to the bios only twice in like 20 tries, once last night, and then this morning, but all the other times I get a blank screen and nothing at all happens, I couldn't even run the posts if I wanted to. Trust me I have made sure everything is seated right at least two times .

I can't get in to the bios, I start the computer and all get is a blank scren, nothing nada zilch, I always seem to screw stuff up

The hs wasn't off for very long, the comp was up and running for 4 hrs before I encountered a problem, while installing software the mouse stopped responding and I had to shut the comp down, then when I tried to reboot, it gave me a blank screen and its still like that. All the fans are running, and the two times I was sent the bios, the cpu temps were low and I had no signs of a problem with the Cpu, there is an indicator light on the mobo itself that is lit up all the time, and from what I gather it only lights when the comp is in a standby mode, all I know is I must have messed something u

I will, when I solve the major probelm I have encountered, It won't boot up anymore, but it did two times, and it took me stright to the BIOS and told me to check the CPU settings, everything looked ok to me, but after I exited the Bios I get a blank screen, just like when I try to boot up now , I'm gonna see what kind of help I can get off the Asus web site, but Im not sure at all what the probelm is.

According to the Artic Silver website, it will take about 72 hours to see a decrease in the temps.

Yep, I'm using the stock hs and fan, but I used Arctic Silver thermal compund instead of the stock thermal pad.
