    ICQ or ASE?

    ICQ is only going to be of use to you if you have a list of people that you know who will be online at the same time as you, waiting for each other to get in touch and agree where and when you want to play, its only a message service, same as MSN etc, and has nothing in common with ASE.. ;)

    That is one other criticism i would like to add to the mix, in that a lot of people have too little time set for each map.

    If all you want is a quick "run and gun" game then thats fine, but if you are trying to make it a bit more of a tactical challenge then you have to put a decent amount of time on the clock, as Camo' has just pointed out, in the real world it can a long time to get into position as a sniper, and even an "advance to contact" for a fighting patrol can take an indefinate amount of time, depending on where the enemy are and how well they are dug in.

    Most of the time it is the finding the enemy and getting to position that takes all the time, with the actual attack and consolidation of the area being over relatively quickly, as long as you get it right.

    We all know it is just a game, but as it is supposed to be a tactical game at least put enough time on the clock so that you dont feel rushed, and then you wont feel the need to run everywhere, and you can take time to stop and work out your next move before you continue on.

    I can appreciate your opinion blunt', but i'm afraid that i cant see any humour in this topic. :huh:

    The main dilemma seems to be what would be our retaliation to an attack by people prepared to use WMD, i honestly dont know what the answer is, but if we do not have the stomach to accept that we may have to use weapons that were previously considered unacceptable, then what deterrent can we use against an enemy who is prepared to use such weapons ?

    I agree Monty that this sort of scenario is purely hypthetical, but i fear as time goes on it will become less and less so.. jmo..

    I choose mods that i think add something to the original game, either weapons, maps or skins depending on what style of game i'm playing, some of my current favourites are, in no particular order:

    HX4

    SPV4

    BRM20

    Swiss Special Forces

    Any of Bajabravos works

    Various addon map packs

    There are quite a few more that i have installed ready to go but i dont really get much chance to play them all..

    I dont expect the US, or whichever country the terrorists decide to target, to try to locate the actual people who carried out the act, but it would give them a legitimacy they dont currently have to use those sorts of weapons to retaliate, and i expect they will..

    I agree with you Tollen when you say it is a difficult scenario to deal with, but i think that governments would use these kind of attacks to get public support for just this kind of retaliation..
