  1. Thats ok Yoda, i welcome intelligent debate, thats why i post in here, but people should not be afraid to put down their true opinion, i know i'm not.

Thanks for your reply Para, and yes, it is nice to see you still in here, my point was made from a purely personal perspective on religion as a following, rather than pointing the finger at any one section of it.

I agree that there organisations that attach themselves to religions to try and justify their actions, such as the KKK, who i admit i have very little knowledge of, i am talking purely of "religion" as a concept not just in the West but worldwide.

Of course some good things have been done in the name of religion, but that is supposedly what religion preaches, so that should be a given, not an exception, my question is how can an organisation which is supposed to be there for the good of mankind, even allow one incidence of suffering ?

It should be totally alien to its fundemental beliefs, and yet all over the world acts are carried out both in the name of religion, and by religious people, which are as barbaric as anything documented, i know you say that there will always be a part of society who will use the name of religion to give itself some credibility, but there are so many cases of actual religious involvment in atrocities, going all the way back through history, that it is more than just guilty by association, it is actual participation.

As i said i have no animosity towards religion itself, i am completely ambivelent. but i do think there is a level of hypocrosy in religion, in which it chooses what parts of its history are relevent, and which parts it would rather forget, i am talking about factual history that can be found in any library.

This is a debate which because of its completely different viewpoints will never be fully settled, but i respect anyone else's choice to choose their lifestyle, as long as it doesnt interfere with mine and vice versa..

  2. I'm sorry Monty your talking to a fully paid up atheist/pagan here..

In my opinion all religions at different times in our history have caused nothing but suffering and pain, while at the same time they continue to preach the doctrine of love and peace.

Mainstream religions are based on money and power, and are used by governments to keep the population in its place, and give it something to focus its attention on during times of unrest, it has had hundreds of years to get its image just right, but when you examine it closer there is no substance to its claims, and it all based on people suspending their belief in facts and trusting in something which has no valididty at all..

As i said, my opinion, but not one that i will be changing, dont make me have to get believers to justify some of the terrible things that have been done in the name of religion, and then tell me there is an all powerful merciful god who has decided all of this is for the best...

  3. Lol budgie, you make a fair point that religion has been used for centuries to try and justify actions taken by people who have no other interest than to further their own cause, while hiding behind the acceptable face of religious beliefs.

Maybe we dont get to hear about it in the west, but it would prefer it if the religious communities that are associated with these extremists, would be a bit more vocal in their condemnation of the various acts carried out in their name ?..

  4. I'm just surprised that considering that its meant to be such an holy festival, that they were saying on the news they expected the terrorists to use it as an excuse to be even more active, religion eh ?, dont get me started...... <_<

  5. Sorry ronin, i wasnt trying to be vague its just that i knew it had been brought up once or twice before, and i didnt want to add to the debate.

I agree with WK though, i dont see why they couldnt do a mod if they were sympathetic to the material, it would be a good map for GR anyway..

  6. I'm going to wait until i see the full game before i decide, but i thought it was a bit too arcade like for me, especially all the medical kits lying around to give you more health, maybe this will be up to the player in the game but at the moment its not really my bag.. :)

  7. I agree, i think that the sound side of it is underused by a lot of people, quite often you can hear an enemy coming towards you, or using the stairs etc, long before you see him, it becomes a bit more difficult if you are using comms with your team mates, but i still try to listen out if i know an enemy is fairly close. ;)

  8. Iv'e put the link in here, if you go to this website it will have all the patches and info you need to sort you out, i used to play a bit of AA but havent been online in a while, if you decide to organise a game or two let us know and i would be interested, i found that it was fairly easy to join a server which was empty just to get a feel for the game, before jumping in with all the hardcore players.... ;)

  9. Did the same, got rid of ME and installed XP Pro, best move i ever made, i havent had one old ME type problem since i changed it, although i just backed up some game files etc and did a clean install, i would suggest changing to NTFS instead of Fat 32 while your doing it as well.

If you really cant back up your data then just upgrade, its not the best way but it will still be better than ME... ;)
