  1. Well i scanned my PC with Ad-aware and all i got was loads of Webhancer and Net ratings reg entries and files and folders. As i didn't know if it was safe to delete them i've just left them. According to ad-aware these are part of internet explorer anyway. But as i'm a  I don't know if its ok or not. I couldn't find anything called gator, i think ill just go and shoot something in GR instead. All this thinking is hurting my ...thing..you know..whats in your head..its grey, jelly like....you know....erm....begins with b......it will come to me later.

  2. 300Mag i think you nailed it. I'll try your tip about the IDE drivers. I should learn never to update my drivers until they are properly tested :wall:

Yep that worked. Rolled back the IDE drivers and the DVD drive works ok now.

    Thanks for the help guys.

  3. Yeah, I can explore the CD, open the files etc. But if i try to use autoplay, the respective launcher will open as normal, but when i try to start the game i get the same error message, although on Raven Shield i get a " please insert CD-ROM2 " message, i guess because you install that game with 2 disks.

  4. I'm not spending dollars mate, Americas far to far away to buy a DVD drive from :D But i know what you're saying. But i've only had the PC for about 3 weeks, and a brand new system shouln't be giving me problems. Not for the cash(£s ;) ) i had to shell out anyway.

  5. Went to Samsungs site, downloaded the Firmware autoupdate software, ran it, (said everything was up to date). Still getting the same error message. Next step is the cd cleaner then. Hope that works or i'll need a new drive i guess. Back to Alienware you go my lovely :(

  6. For some reason i'm getting the following error message " Cannot locate CD-ROM...Please insert CD-ROM, select ok and restart application".

Some games are loading up fine, Morrowind, GR, GTAVice City, others are not....Raven Shield and OFP Resistance. Its only just started happening, the only thing i've done is install Vietcong, and that works fine. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the DVD drive but it makes no difference. And uninstalling Vietcong, still same error message appearing.

    Any help would be welcome.

  7. For some reason I didn't have the problem with MSN with XP Pro on my other PC, although i do have it with my XP Home PC!!! Even with MSN unchecked in msconfig it is still running in the background. Don't you just hate microcrap?!?!?

Did you put XP on yourself or was it already installed when you got the PC, i'm thinking that may be an issue...well guessing :P

  8. Na, got the Ti with my new PC, from Alienware :D It came with the 42.?? drivers. The Ti4400 in my other PC was off the shelf. The Ti with the Alienware PC has got a gfx utility, ( their own) but it doesn't seem to have a function for changing the way DX draws on the screen.
