  1. Not sure, but you guys might be CPU throttled. I have Evga 8800GTX w/C2D 6600 O/C and run the game at 1920X1200, all detail maxed except shadows. Get anywhere from 70-100 FPS. Your CPU may be holding back the full potential of the 8800.
  2. LARSA Your rig is very similiar to mine except I have Evga 680i MB and Evga 8800GTX. Does the PhysX card add enough extra eye candy to warrant its price? Reason I'm asking is that I'm considering getting one. Thanks DD
  3. Please, as the others have asked, explain this in a little more detail. I have a DSL 1.5mb/384k connection. Since I get only about 284k upload most of the time, I have set the ingame option to 256k. But you say for me to host a coop game, I would need 256x4 or 1024k? Even if I set the option to 128k (the lowest setting) I could not achieve this speed. If this is the case, then we are truly in trouble. It would prevent MANY gamers with DSL connections from hosting. The 3 guys that have played GR1 coop with me for years could not host. Almost everyone I know well doesn't have that kind of speed. It would seem that you need to include that in the game requirements on the outside of the box. If this is indeedwhat is needed, then I would have never bought the game. Please provide a little more detail on this. Thank you
  4. It's great to see that GRIN is here acknowledging the coop posts. Since coop is basically all my friends and I play, I feel encouraged that the coop issues may be addressed. And that leads me to the #1 issue we have right now with coop: WE CAN'T GET TO THE LOADOUT SCREEN! Sorry about the screaming, but this is ridiculous. I tried for almost 2 hours Saturday to join/host a coop game, and never once got it to work. Sunday I was finally able to join someone's game, only to be disconnected 5 minutes into the game. Some days it works marginally, some days not at all. I am OK with the coop game when we're playing, all the things that have been promised for coop improvements sound great, but I enjoy playing it as it is now. That is, if we can play! The way it stands now, four of us try playing, but only one of us can host because no one can get to the loadout screen if the others try to host. And the one that can host has a slower PC, so the game doesn't host well on his computer. And we all have computers that will run the game just fine. As a matter of fact, we all can jump into a Dom or DM game without any problems. This appears to be a coop issue. GRIN, I know I can't ask you to respond directly to this (Colin pretty much threatened me with being booted off when I asked before), but there appears to be a lack of posts regarding this BkSOD issue in coop. I'm sure you're aware of it, I just wanted to state that the coop game has been very enjoyable when we get it to play. It's just not easy to get that far with it. We wonder at times if this is, in part, a Gamespy problem. There are a good number of times I get 'Gamespy connection problem' messages, which doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling about being able to play. I truly hope that one of the future coop improvements is Direct IP connection, but I doubt it. Ubisoft using Gamespy was not, IMHO, a wise decision. Unfortunately, that's what we got. Thanks for listening
  5. -Sitting here with Look of Understanding spreading across face- He is so right. Never have I had such a love/hate relationship with a computer game. "When it was good, it was very, very good; but when it was bad it was horrid." As much as I have posted about the problems I've had with co-op play and the connecting issues, I still can't wait to get home from work to play it, or at least try. And I have friends who have totally given up on it, waited a day or two, then tried it again. We want so desperately for this game to work the way we think it should. Maybe it will eventually. Meanwhile, no matter how much I complain about it, I'll keep trying...
  6. I have used them for awhile and have had no problems. Can't say as I saw any performance gain, tho.
  7. Colin, is this directed at me? If not, my apologies, please skip the rest of this post. If so, then: 1. What questions did I ask The Development Team to reply to? The only question in my entire post was 'Has anyone else had this problem?' 2. I did not hijack someone's post. I am experiencing the same problems, and since there was no reply of any kind to their post, I wanted to bring it to light. My apologies to the author for not quoting, but that is the only 'not on' here. 3. This thread started as 'GRAW crashes in Co-op'. I'm not sure what your quote of the forum rules has to do with it. I am upset because 'GRAW crashes in Co-op'. That is what my post is about. And the fact that it crashed even more with the patch. For me, it has gotten extremely worse with the 1.16 patch. I can now get only 1 in about 10 games I host/join to work. My post is fraught with the frustration that I feel no attention is being directed at getting co-op to work correctly. As I explained before, my friends and I bought this game to play co-op. We just don't enjoy the DM, TDM, Dom. So we layed down our money thinking we could have fun with this game as we did in GR1. We are feeling like we threw our money away. At times we have spend 60 minutes trying to get a game going, only to have about 5-10 minutes of actual playing time because of crashes to desktop, disconnects, black screens before loadout. I know GRIN is probably working night and day to fix this. It is, after all, their reputation at stake. It was the lack of any mention of co-op fixes and the step backwards for coop from the 1.10 patch that disappointed me. I seriously now cannot play. How would you feel? And chastising me for my post does not improve my mood. It's your forum, and I'll probably be booted for trying to get attention to my game - no, not game, product that I purchased that no longer works - problems. So be it. Just call me a frustrated consumer...
  8. No offense, but I find this statement ridiculous. I would not presume to know what the game devs are doing or not doing regarding fixing the programs with GRAW and the 1.16 patch. No offense taken. However, I stand behind my statement that there APPEARS to be no effort. This stems from the lack of replies to any posts regarding coop problems (other than folks with same problems), the tiny little that coop gained from the patch (maps that should have been there from the start), the omission of any coop features in the editor (no bot generation), the obvious going backwards from 1.10 to 1.16 concerning coop connection issues, and more. All I want to see is a post or a reply that will lead me to think that coop improvements are being considered. Most of what I've seen regards DM & Dom. I applaud you for your very positive attitude towards this challenge we face. I wish I could be that optimistic. From what I've observed thus far, I cannot.
  9. I'm posting because there appears to be ZERO effort being done on fixing the coop connection problem. I posted when the 1.16 patch first came out about not being able to play coop : QUOTE(DeathDad @ Jun 21 2006, 11:08 PM) I am so mad right now I probably shouldn't be typing this, but I have read no posts about how coop play has been impacted by the new patch and need to say this. Coop is what my friends and I bought this game for. And I wish I could comment on the new patch's improvements in coop play, BUT SINCE I CANNOT NOW PLAY IN ANY COOP GAME HOSTED BY ANYONE, I guess I must refrain. I could, for the most part, usually join with the 1.10 patch, and was only occassionally dropped. I am now ALWAYS either disconnected, dropped to desktop or hard locked requiring a reboot before I can get to the loadout screen in a coop game. I can host, but cannot join. There is nothing different about my hardware. There is nothing different about my operating system. I have re-installed GR:AW 3x since trying this ###### patch. This is a patch issue. I am happy for the MP folks who got some new stuff for DM and team play, but this patch has ruined the coop experience for me. Has anyone else had this problem? Since then the situation has worsened. I can host only sometimes. The other players can join, but can't get past the black screen to the loadout. I cannot join coop servers I used to be able to join with 1.10. I have heard this from many coop players. But apparently the developers are either unaware of it or ignoring it to focus on the DM & Dom issues. That's fine, but please don't forget there is a coop community out there. I know the coop servers are far fewer than the others, but maybe part of that is because it's so hard to get a coop server game started. There is a Catch-22 effect here, the 1.10 coop game worked better but no one is playing that version anymore, so we are forced to use 1.16, WHICH IS BROKEN. Please, GRIN, just let us know you are aware of the coop issues with 1.16 and are planning to address them. If not, the coop part of GRAW is doomed. To me, coop is an important part of the tactical gaming experience. If it dies, so does my willingness to spend $50 on anything in the future that has Ubisoft or GRIN on the label. That may be harsh, but that is where we are at in the current gaming market. Thanks for listening, although there appear to be very few people evening reading this forum link...

  13. The same thing happens when I play. I usually host a co-op game with 2-3 of my friends in the evening (eastern USA). We are constantly getting Gamespy connection errors. Last night was some of the worst we've seen, it took us 5-10 minutes just to get everyone into the game almost everytime we played a mission. This is getting unacceptable. If the upcoming patch addresses this problem, or better yet includes direct IP connections, then we will continue to support the game and its future iterations. If not, then this game, and its offspring, will most likely not be residing on our hard drives. The decision to use Gamespy exclusively for MP play was at best POOR. Ubisoft, listen to the masses...
  14. Thank you for the reply. We are using the 1.06 patch. We do not get "CD Key rejected" error. Instead, if we are both killed the first time we are out on a mission, we are returned to the server 'lobby'. Then we start the mission for a second time, only this time the client player ends up being kicked off and replaced by another AI player at the loadout screen. The text that disappears is when we are in the game typing messages to each other in the MP dialog window at the top of the screen. It will sometimes just dump the message and start the line all over again before we are finished typing. Anyone else have these problems?
  15. I know there has been a lot of posts regarding the MP aspects/issues of GR:AW, and I have faith in GRIN that many will be addressed. Just wanted to add a couple of observations. I have finally convinced/shamed/badgered one of my [GR] co-op friends into purchasing the game, and we tried it out last nite. Just he and I, me hosting with 2 AI teammates. Worked OK, but had couple of stumbles. Whenever we would die the first time (and mission ended) we could start back at the server OK, but when we got to the loadout screen, he was gone, replaced with a third AI member. This happened everytime. We also have trouble typing in the dialog window, as sometimes the words you've already typed will disappear before you finished the message. That really is all for now. Other than I truly hope there will be a direct to IP connection option in the patch. I very much dislike GameSpy. I guess I don't need to know why Ubisoft got in bed with them, but we did not need them in [GR], and don't want them for GR:AW. Thank you for listening DeathDad (also know as MeanOldMan because GS puked on my original account)
