! this is so exciting - can't wait to find out what its about... are you going to release a storyline/synopsis at all? The photo that you've used to texture that 1911 is a very nice one but its upward-illuminated so could look strange in game (unless you fire it upside down like in the bourne identity ). Seeing as the suppresor texture is downward illuminated it kinda jumps out at me.

Tourism (go to Ireland - you'll see what i mean )

Thanks Pyro, Yes as I said there will be a maximum texture resolution - probably 512x512.

Attachments shouldn't be modelled unless we specifiy them, otherwise we'd have people modelling all different things and wasting polys on parts of the weapon that others aren't so I'll make it very clear what is to be made. And no Earl will not be competing as he is a Judge.

Hi All. Welcome to the GR.NET Weapon Modelling Championships! by elpatricio, Earl, and Pyro_Monty The Format: Every two/three weeks, a new round will be opened in the General Discussion Forum. Each round relates to one weapon type (SMG, AR, SR, LMG, HW, Pistol) and a particular weapon is chosen for you to model and texture. Contestants must present: - renders of the untextured geometry (both sides) - renders of the textured weapon (both sides) - the texture - vertex/face count and any other relevant details. We are looking for origonal high quality, low-poly, efficiently

Yeah the SEM includes the C7 anc C8 flat tops with elcan scopes... Is it really neccessary that you take them? They're just m16s on the outside really - not much work needed.

Weapons mods, making them multiplayer compatible is a fairly complex process... You have to realise that you wouldn't be able to play with them online unless someone else had done the same conversion because your version would become incompatible. It seems like too much trouble when you could download some MP weapons mods but if you still want to know please confirm.

Hang on,... Isn't that the current American government's foreign policy?

I have a factory refurbished IBM P97 (19" Flat Screen). Only cost me £200 IIRC, never had any problems with it and the picture is still as sharp as knife edge, even up at 2048x1536. It came with the standard IBM warranty too because its factory refurbished.

Looking to put together a modding team

Well Done Para, the game has been crying out for this Exactly the sort of attitude we need more of when mods are concerned. I'd volunteer, but I'm too busy with SWAT at the moment, so good luck and I eagerly await the finished product. -

Soup's First Weapon Since Coming Back

Nice work my man, you might wan't to apply a smooth modifier to that so that it appears round... select Modifiers -> Mesh Editing -> Smooth, then click any of the numbers from the panel that appears to turn it on. You can also smooth/unsmooth individual faces with this tool. -
AHAHAHAHAH who'd of thought it... well actually I did see this yesterday Couldn't resist

Since it doesn't tell you the canvas size, the resolution or scale won't matter. I might be wrong, I don't really know about RGB storage but as far I can tell: if its made from 128 possible colors - an index i have not come accross before - then each color is going to be allocated a number between 0 and 127, so... 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 0 = 128 2^7 2^6 2^5 2^4 2^3 2^2 2^1 2^0 ...8 bits

Some of the kit files in different mods may use the same filenames, meaning that you'll only get the weapons of the mod with highest priority.

Usually means a corrupt download... give pyro's answer a shot. You say everytime you try to download something? Are you using a download agent or anything like that?

After receiving 20 virus infected emails, and 42 Delivery Failure notifications each also containing the worm in 100kbs of ASCII! they've finally stopped coming!

The British Army Picture Library is very good, if you sign up for a free account you can download some very high res and high quality pics.

I use a freeware program called CDex, its small and fast, and automatically creates ID tags on your files and sorts them into folders. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

Sig Awards No.8 is now closed! (sorry, couldn't resist stealing your line velo )

nice job, and 1500 polys is fine. Each character model is about 1000 and you regularly have 6 or more on screen at any time without problems.
