Heya Bluerose,
As said m8, I couldn't remember who's post it was and didn't go back and check m8 lol......But todays events definitely highlighted that there is a distinct possibility that MSBlast could be floating around here unfortunately
!!!I'm fairly well protected too and touch wood, haven't been infected and won't be either taking all reasonable measures.
Obviously not all that share the forum either have that luxury or maybe the experience to know what to look for etc and it's mainly there for them to help them avoid a nasty brush with the Dark side of computers......
Despite what I've seen today too, I obviously still can't say for 100% certain that Gr.net is infected either, but a good deal of evidence tends to point in the direction that it just "MIGHT" be having seen it happen twice in a very short space of time and one of those times specifically putting a PC at risk to see if it could be a cause too.
Even if some checking does turn out to be all clear, hopefully the info will still help people and it just mite not be GR.net that it was picked up from either, but it would then make explaining where it did come from when no other sites were visited, no downloads initiated at all, or any other net activity at all one hell of a ###### to then account for too rofl.
It's a nightmare however ya look at it tho, and either way hopefully the managers can have the heads up of possible naughtiness and that way Gr.net will remain running sweetly as ever for all that share the forum
!! -
Bummer....hhhmmm.....try this then,
Go to the Run Command Line in ya start menu and type -> drwatson.exe <-, in the pane at the bottom it should tell you of any problem applications etc that may help or guide you to a potential issue somewhere so that you can then fix it??
Also it won't do any harm to have a browse thru ya "System Information" Utility either that may show something up if ya Norton Utils isn't helping you out a great deal either, (found in All Programs, Accessories and then System Tools of the Start Menu (and not wishing to patronise you if you know that too lol, obviously I don't know how much you know or how experienced you are either etc)).
Once that is running, go thru the Hardware resources and see if there are any blatant conflicts etc too, and check the other items there too and see if anything is flagged. Report anything ya not sure of here etc!!
Have you done a Virus Scan lately as well??
I'm not saying that's what it is, but if you haven't then do one anyway. Seems odd that Norton Disc Doctor won't scan from within Windows on demand (only on a Re-Boot as you mention too).
As ya say, keep pluggin away m8, hopefully it's nothing too serious and just one if those things that's fairly simple that catches us all out from time to time, even when it's staring us inthe face too lol!!
Still got the fingers crossed for ya
! -
First up, this post is ONLY here to help and for information. I personally am not making accusations of any kind lol, and my only intent with this post is to aid people in protecting their PC's and also importantly, also hopefully helping to protect the interests of GR.net too
!I Haven't gone back and read it again, but I remember someone posting the other day that they "suspected" that a Virus (Trojan, Worm, whatever) had infected their PC after visiting GR.net, obviously nobody could be sure and it seemed that it was mostly speculation at the time!!!
I was over at a freinds today and told him of this site and he hooked up his comp and logged on here.....We were logged on for about 8 minutes and visited no other sites, downloaded nothing and used no other Internet Applications and he ended up with MSBlast from his brief visit RIGHT HERE
!!! He then tells me that he has NO Firewalls, NO Antivirus Software at all, and HADN'T been to the Windows update site to download ANY Critical Updates, or at least gone and got the MSBlast Protection Patch either. Basically he is an in-experienced user and in the process of learning what it's all about. How did I know he had got MSBlast??.....As soon as he logged off something started hammering his CPU for no reason at all, I checked his Task Manager and right there in the list was the notorious "Teekids.exe", a known .exe of the W32.Blaster.C.Worm (I also quickly checked the date and time the "teekids.exe" was created too, and it was 4 minutes before he had logged off as well). Fortunately for him in this case, I happened to have a Compact Flash card with me, and on it was Symantecs Stand Alone FixBlast, we stuck it straight in his CF Card reader and got it running for him, we got it straight away and luckily for him, no damage was done (this time at least). Needless to say, I directed him to the Win Update site and showed him how to d'load the necassary files to up his protection and he will be getting a Firewall and an AV App too lol!!I got home and to make sure it wasn't just some sort of one off or otherwise. I have an old Laptop that I use for testing alsorts of things. I did a completely fresh install of Windows on it and installed no other apps at all. Then I logged onto GR.net for 3 minutes with no protection at all and none of the Critical Updates or Blast Protection Patches installed at all either, then quickly logged off again and I too had picked up MSBlast on the old Lappy too!!! Bad news huh
??Hopefully this post will help the Managers as it does seem the Site has been compromised somehow guys
, I hope you can sort the problem and not end up with problems with your individual PC's too though and good luck with it obviously
!!For general users.....This further highlights the fact that the W32.Blaster series of Worms is still causing regular and continual chaos and catching those with little or no protection out when they think they are safe, or for the less experienced users it is hammering them relentlessly!! Remember also, this Worm has the ability to affect ANY Website, even those we may trust the most and view as safe and perfectly legitimate, and it's not the fault of the Websites Managers etc when it happens, it's essentially what this Worm is designed to do and it is one sneaky ######! It's not just Sites that you may view as suspect that you are likely to encounter this one!!
If ya not sure what to do to give yaselves some protection (for the less experienced that share the site here), then at the very least......
1. Visit the Windows update site and download EVERY Critical Update available there, if you do nothing else after, ENSURE you at least do this.
2. Purchase a reliable AntiVirus app such as Norton etc, or if ya can't spare the cash, AVG do a very good AV Application too!
3. Also invest in a reliable Firewall too, again there are free ones available that can at least give another layer of protection. The McAfee Firewall V4.0 is very good and the Norton Personal Firewall is also obviously highly rated too and they don't cost a fortune either!!
Hopefully the Forum Managers here can trace the problem, but remember that ANY Website we may visit is potentially infected and it can be passed on to anyone logging on in seconds, with no protection you wouldn't know about it at all till it was far too late either!!
Hope this is of use to the regular users and to the managers, again I hope you can track the problem and have a succesfull outcome to it
!! -
Craigs,
Well that gives a clue m8 and may get you on the road to some sort of recovery soon
!!!"Nmain.exe" is a shared Symantec file, so you probably have one of the Norton Apps installed, most likely Norton AV tho, yes/no???
It may be that your Norton AV has become corrupted and is the culprit, (why would that affect the Internet though you ask? I have no bloody idea myself lol, but mine got corrupted for absolutely no reason once too, and it did very similar things to my Internet connection, causing problems where you'd never expect it to)!!!
Try an un-install of Norton AV and then try a D'load and see if it's succesfull. If it is then you'll know one way or the other. Then if ya happy etc re-install ya Norton AV and go from there m8
!!Give it a whirl anyway, and see how that fairs you for now
!!! -
Is it an "Original Disc", a back-up, or (AHEM), d'loaded from the net and burnt to CD-R/DVD-R too lol????
-
Hehehe,
First up, in the minds of some it may have paid you to be slow to make the change hehehe, to many Win XP has been the bain of their lives rofl, to others it's absolutely fine granted
!! For you only time will tell hehehe!!As for ya Partition Sizes.....Are you reffering to the ones you often needed to make when installing Win ME or 98 using FDisk prior to an install for example?? If you are, there's no need to create a partition for that purpose prior to installing XP as at least it does actually completely do all that for you.
It is a lot easier to install than Win ME and 98 were for those that weren't happy working in DOS etc as obviously XP has no DOS. You just stick the CD in and off ya go basically m8 lol
!!Then all you have to do is choose the H/D you want to actually install XP to, (if you have any Primary partitions, Extended partitions, or Logical drives installed), then choose whether to then Format the Drive/Partition using the NTFS Format (Quick or Full) that you are installing XP to, or just install XP to the Drive of your choice making no changes, and away you go, it does it all for you m8.
There are loads of articles all overthe net for Win XP too.....Haven't ever used any myself but the following looks like it may be of some use to you too.......
Good luck
! -
1st.....What connection do you have, (DSL, 56k, etc)??
2nd, when your AC went off, were you changing any of the properties to your connections etc or to any other features of XP (obviously something was open that wasn't able to be saved fully when the sys went down and the Sys Restore failing isn't exactly good news for you either
.If it also won't Restore to one Date and Time have you tried another too, maybe a day further back instead of the one closest to the crash, a different Resore point may work for you too?? Can you also remember what you were running at the time your sys went down as well, as something may have altered your settings inadvertantly and it mite help someone here to help you too???
What are your rough sys specs also??!!
Otherwise.....Have you tried going into the connection properties of the device that connects and checking they are all as they should be, and checking the properties of your username and password etc are all still correct too. It may even pay to delete the connection shortcut completely and create a new one with the "New Connection Wizard" and see if that helps too, it certainly won't do any harm and sometimes can help if the connection properties have been corrupted or vastly changed in some way too!!
BUT, try the Sys Restore to a slightly ealier point first tho, as said an earlier one may work for you where the one you tried didn't
! Fingers crossed for ya m8
! -
Cobblers,
Sorry m8, I should have put a link in for you last time so you can see what I meant lol.........Go to the following link, then in the Blue Banner at the top of the page you will be on there are a load of links to the many different sections of the differing components that they supply. Choose the "Hard Drives" link from the "Blue Banner", and then you will be on a page of their full Hard Drive listings alone. Scroll down the sections on that page, past the 2.5"/PCMCIA and External Drives sections, and the 3rd section down is for the standard "IDE" Drives
!!Obviously there you will then get ya listing of all of the H/D's they sell, including the section for standard IDE Drives as mentioned, the very last section on that Web Page is the section and listings of SATA devices too
!!Whiteknight,
Heya m8, sorry, still not quite understanding the score from your post...Are you saying that you can run SATA drive(s) with NO IDE Drives being present at all?? Or, can you just install SATA drives without any IDE H/D's being present please m8??? That's what I'd like to know, there seems to be a bit of a grey area on that one, some say that to run SATA drives, you must have at least 1 IDE drive installed, others are saying you can just run a system without any IDE Drives and just with SATA????
-
Not sure on the exact specs and useage for that particular game, but I play the odd old game that simply won't run on WinXP at all (Goldarnit lol)!!!
You may have to get a DOS Emulator so that the game can run if it was designed to actually run fully in DOS and now Win. Then you may need to also go into the properites for the shortcut etc and set-up the DOS options too blah blah.
That may or may not sort it, depending exactly on how ya old Game (Demo) was meant to run obviously
!!! -
Hiya m8,
Yeh, the Scan site is very good
!!No, SATA isn't the same as a normal IDE drive, it connects using different Cables and yes it takes a MoBo with the capability onboard, or the use of a standalone PCI controller. The Mobo you have chosen tho is SATA Enabled so don't worry about that, your compatability will be fine
!! The question I'm raising is just if you can have solely SATA devices in use without any IDE Drives being present, hopefully someone using them or someone with further info will be able to answer that question for you, me and any other interested too lol!!! Obviously if you can't run a system with just a SATA drive present then you will need to ensure you also order an IDE drive as well as your chosen SATA drive too (and don't forget to order the spcific Cables from Scan too, most of the Drives they supply do not come with any Cables etc)!!Not all the H/D's listed on Scan are SATA either lol, there is seperate listings within the Hard Drive section for IDE, SCSI and SATA Drives, you probably only looked at the SATA list and thus, all the drives in that specific list would have been SATA obviously lol. Check out the IDE list too for the normal Drives there.
The main difference is that SATA Drives run at a speed of ATA 150, where as the fastest IDE Drives run at ATA 133 (these are the times in which data is transferred and ATA and SATA are just the given names for that)!!
-
Hehehe, Hey Cobbler......
Specs look very good m8, you should have fun building it (mucho swearing and banging hehehe (JK)), and then have a very good system to show for it afterwards too
!!!You gettin it all from Scan, or a mixture of sources too m8???
SATA is also summat I'm going to look into next and haven't really read up on it much at all yet etc................But, noticed from ya wishlist that you list a SATA drive only.....Hopefully someone using SATA already could answer a question for us please??.......Can you just plug SATA devices in without having any normal IDE devices installed at all (well H/D's I mean obviously lol, the usual ATAPI devices would have to be there obviously)?? Or can you now just install SATA devices without having any H/D IDE devices in the loop full stop?????
Would be good to know for sure, and also give you the heads up Cobbler on if you perhaps need to get a standard IDE device as well before you can plug the SATA drive onboard and then go from there??????
-
Heya Cobblers,
First off, I have used both Pentiums and AMD's in the past, at present I prefer AMD's as they just seem to suit me better, it really is a personal preference thing as ever tho TBH. Indeed, with AMD having just released the 64 bit CPU's, you can get a stunning deal on the 32 bit CPU's from places like SCAN at the moment, the prices of AMD's there at the moment are stupendously low
!! AMD's certainly give the performance too m8, there's no doubt about that either
!yes, if you order 2 x 512 modules of Corsair Ram then you'll get 1GB (not 1mb, but I know you made a typo there hehehe)
! The Heatsinks you get with them too are good and help towards cooling as well, I ordered 2 modules from them bundled with the Heatsinks when they had them on offer and am very pleased. Corsair is up amongst the best manufacturers and also has noteable performance characteristics over other brandnames, but obviously that is also reflected in the price of it, but you can't go wrong with it out it that way
!!And what, if any, is the difference between the nest two video cards?256Mb ATI Radeon 9600 Retail x8 AGP DDR TVOut/DVI
256Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro DVI/TV DDR Retail
Probably about £80-100 m8 LMAO!! Performance would be slightly better with the 2nd option obviously as it is higher up the ladder so to speak. Would you really really notice that much of a difference between the 2, not a great deal, it wouldn't be massive, but that said obviously there would be some!!
Otherwise, happy hunting m8 and hope ya ordering bits soon
! -
Cobblers,
I buy most of my Components and bits from Scan Computers m8.
I generally build my own these days as it's so much cheaper and obviously you can customise to excactly what you want, over the pre-builds almost always having something you don't want or like lol!!
They are pretty cheap and often beat many other retailers on prices too, and they always have Weekly and Daily offers on too that are worth checking regularly
!! Delivery times and costs are good too and for the 2 items that I have had to return out of Dozens, the back-up has been very good as well!Worth a look if you are looking for reliable places
!! -
LOL Bluerose.......
I was actually JK m8 lol, sorry......Hence the cheeky
lol
!!Never mind lol, no harm done I hope
!! -
LMAO Prozac hehehe
!!Well, gotta have some sort of "throttle to rev up" after I had to sell my Motorbike a couple of months back, (a much loved and missed Suzuki GSX-R 600). It's not quite the same obviously <GRIN>, but the withdrawal symptoms are just too much to take hehehehe. Now I can happily sit and Rev the CPU Fan instead. Doesn't quite make the same sweet noise of the Exhaust I had fitted to the bike either, but ya can't have it all can ya hehehe
! -
LMAO......
Well spotted Firefly hehehe, that had me chuckling away for 5 minutes m8
!!!! -
StormCrow.....You need to be looking exactly in the Directory that AVG has highlighted for you m8, not in the Registry!!
You obviously have ya Sys Restore on and monitoring ya H/D's etc, so browse your C: Drive for the Dir called _Restore, but there's the usual 2 quick ways to find the Files you need anyway obviously.
1. Use your "Find Files and Folders Search" options from the Start Menu, type in the name of the file that you posted about right here and hopefully it will then find it and you'll be able to deal with it from the Find Files Dialogue, (subject to possibly having to Disable your System Restore settings first, but you can quickly and easily Enable them again afterwards too if succesful)
!2. Go find it manually using Win Explorer or My Computer etc, (however you prefer to browse your files etc lol). If it's not displaying for you, then go to your "Folder Options", choose the "View" Tab and then look thru the list of options with Check Boxes. Check the "Display Contents of System Folders" box, Check the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" box, and Uncheck the "Hide Extensions for Known File types" box to aid you tracking down the file too if none of the above aren't already done
!!That should help you to find it and use whatever means you'd prefer to then isolate it etc
!!Zeb........FYI m8.....As careful as many of us are in this day and age with Dloads, the Sites we visit, and where we do obtain things from etc, the Authors of these Scripts have obviously moved on with the times too now that many users are being more vigilant and increasing general security on their PC's. Many of the latest Malicious Scripts have been evolved into being hidden and embedded into perfectly respectful Websites you may visit, they no longer have to be of the usual suspect types or those of a questionable nature that we've all perhaps seen over time anymore either. The Authors write their code and then hack into many individual legitimate and respected Websites. They then place the code there for unsuspecting browsers who assume that their regular Websites that are usually perfectly safe and who would usually have no part in such misadventures from transferring such files to you end up unwittingly doing just that, and thus you get infected regardless of the steps you have taken to try to avoid it too. All it takes is for you to visit an affected page and the Virii, Trojans and other nasty Scripts are instantly transferred to your PC without you ever even knowing about it unfortunately
!!! Until of course, either something goes horribly wrong, or if you are more sensible, that you have some form of protection installed that may pick it up for you!! So be on your guard m8. Until Servers can again increase their security, then it's down to us to basically lock down our systems as much as possible and essentially scan your PC's once or even twice a day for anything nasty. Using the Scheduled scans for unattended operation is a bighelp obviously
!! -
LOL Bluerose......
Is there an ECHO....ECho.....Echo....echo, in here hehehe
!!!Albeit with less information for the man, you repeated exactly what I posted m8 hehehe
!!!! -
AVG gives location as:
" D:System Volume\ _restore{ A29F3F62-F4B8-4170-897F-6E2AFCAE45CB}\RP54\A0019891.exe"
AVG is telling you you have something so.......
Neither pick it up when scanning. Looks like it got clean through to the system restore section. Little bas*ardIsn't strictly true unfortunately
!! The quoted location and filename is synonimous with Virus or Trojan type files and it looks like you have something there. Norton or AVG just maybe not be able to fully identify it that's all, there is no present definitions or information on these latest "MultiDropper" Trojans
!! It may pay you to isolate that file at least if you don't want to fully delete it, just to be on the safe side as if it is what is suspected and it does manage to get to its grim task then you'll be well miffed obviously!!! -
Heya Dark Ranger,
Yeh certainly impressed with it thanx m8, but to a certain extent it all becomes academic once you get down to a certain point anyway doesn't it lol, or at least I tend to think so rofl.
The next thing that we'll all be complaining of is that our processors are running too cold from the next generation of super efficient HSF's and thus not getting up to the most efficient operating temps hehehe
!!! We'll be spraying bloody De-Icers on em or summat next <GRIN>!!!For 80 degree ambient temps at your end, you're looking pretty damn good too m8 with those specs and bet ya impressed with the purchase
!! As long as it works well for the person that buys it that's what counts the most as well
!!The question is also as you say. Would there be any point to getting a higher cfm volume fan for yours anyway lol?? Your temps are bloody brilliant to say the least, considering your ambient temps in Florida too and another tweak may only obtain you a 1 degree difference anyway lol??!!??!! When they are already that low, 1 degree really is purely academic hehehe!!
It's worthy of note that I nearly went for a Volcane too rofl, glad I didn't now and I had also never heard anyone comment on the noise they produced before either, (only on how efficient they were), but at least you have dispelled the myth for me on them too thanx m8 lol
!!As it stands, my personal quest for decent cooling will end for the foreseeable future at least (at least for the CPU itself anyway lol), but even my system temp never gets over 25 C either, so I'm not worried about doing much more on that front at all myself anymore rofl, will just have to waste money on other gadgetry instead muhahaha
!!TBH these days I'd prefer an efficient cooling system with properly reduced noise like you too m8, you've gone the right way in my book lol. If I'd have had to have this fan up at its max rpm's of around 3700 then I'd be singing a very different tune too rofl. Thankfully the gamble has worked so far at least (touch wood rofl)!!
-
Check out the recent post by Spyder on AntiVirus Help, it very much covers the subject and there should be enough there for you to then remove your unwanted guest files with your AV Apps
!! -
Christ you've suffered some problems recently haven't ya Cpl Ledanek
!! Hope ya getting em sorted tho
!!Try turning off the "Track At Once" feature too, (or in other words where the process of Burning goes along the lines of.......Media from Zip Drive, - Physical RAM/PageFile, - written directly to CD-RW). Adjust it so that it basically records an "Image" of the media on to ya H/D first, and then afterwards writes that Image to the CD-RW. It's obviously a little slower as you are adding another process into the loop by going that route, but it might cut out the errors you are receiving completely if Nero isn't liking something about the options you presently have selected m8!!! And ultimately, being a little slower to achieve the final result until you may find another solution is better than no Burn at all too lol
!Nero can also be a bit fidgety if other burning software drivers are even resident in the system, regardless of whether they are used or not. Adaptec for instance can ###### up Nero quite nicely and cause the errors you are experiencing. Have you loaded any, either intentionally, or they have been unwittingly hidden in another app on installation or something too?? Although have a feeling that WinXP installs it's own Adaptec drivers anyway, so a Patch to your Nero if it is a Pre-Win XP version may help as already suggested too
!!Hope that's of further help to you
! -
Heya Cpl Ladenak,
With regards ya RAM question......."In theory yes", you can mix and match DDR memory sizes the same as you could with standard SDRAM, so if you have 2 x 256mb modules populating banks 1 and 2 for example, you could put a 512mb module into bank 3. However, it's recommended that IF you do mix sizes that you obviously put the largest module in bank 1, and then the smaller chips in banks 2 and 3!! IF ya get that 3rd module @ 512mb, then pull the present module out of bank 1 and stick it in No. 3
!! It is generally recommended that where possible you try to keep all of the RAM modules the same size though, it's just not 100% essential. I haven't mixed "DDR" RAM sizes personally, but in the past I have mixed up standard SDRAM modules of differering sizes to good effect with no problems at all
!The one thing you do want to make sure of as far as possible too is that the actual speeds are the same as the present modules, and the manufacturer is likewise too. For examples sake, if your present 256mb modules are PC2700 (DDR 333) and made by Winbond, then try to make sure that the 512mb module you buy is also a Winbond PC2700 module and it "should" be ok!!
As for the coloured Bank, I'm not saying it is, but it mite be because when these MoBo's were first introduced, the BIOS for many models didn't support 3 modules of PC3200 (or DDR400), (and with a few, if they even supported it at all lol). BIOS upgrades have since been issued however so that many fully support DDR400 RAM in all 3 modules
!! The revised versions of your board comes with ALL black RAM Banks though and no longer have a blue one on them. At least, any that I have seen pictured on the Net or ones that a couple of freinds have either
! There could well be a completely different reason for it though rofl, but that certainly could be one of them
!BTW........Prices are already plummeting on the 32bit AMD's too m8 hehehehe, the new 64bit offerings have been on the shelves a short while and prices are reflecting that respectfully now!
Happy hunting for a new CPU too m8 hehehe
!! What ya gonna upgrade too?? -
I have just brought the CoolerMaster that SI Prozac pictures and mentions too. I wasn't displeased at all with the Stock Heatsink that came with my XP2400+ though as it was more than efficient. But, I also just brought a new MoBo too (an MSI KT6 Delta KT600) after getting more and more fed up with the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP that I posted about a week or so ago too lol, so decided what the hell, whilst I'm at it and the guts are out, I'll upgrade the H/S/F too
!!I mounted the controller knob for mine at the front of the PC (you can either have it at the back positioned in a PCI bay as mentioned, or there is a plate so that you can install it in a spare Floppy Bay too), I just preferred the front method personally as my Case sits in a cupboard and reaching round the back for adjustments as required would be a pain to say the least lol
!!It is a bit of a monster size wise admittedly, guess that's always gonna be the price you pay for extra cooling without getting a Water Cooling System though lol, and it's not like it really matters as long as it fits any individuals PC anyway and is within weight limits etc too lol!!!
As for cooling, glad I got it I have to say
!!! Although Ambient temps are a darn sight less than Florida's here right now rofl, it's far more efficient than the Stock HSF supplied with the AMD XP's!! Temps so far with it are.....CPU Idle (fan 2000rpm) 30 C
CPU hammered (fan 2000rpm) 34 C
CPU Idle (fan 3500rpm) 26 C
CPU hammered (fan 3500rpm) 30 C
.......which will do me damn nicely lol. That's with the Case in a cupboard too
!!Have to admitt tho, that @ 3500 rpm it is a noisy ###### and sounds like a quite Hairdryer basically rofl, but at around the 2000rpm mark it basically can't be heard above the standard 92 cfm fans at all, so unless I start to see increases then at 2000rpm it will stay, and at those temps I could actually let the fan drop to its minimum of 1500 quite readily too, but seeing as I can't hear it at 2000 rpm that's where it will stay anyway lol!! Those Temps probably will rise again next Summer here as expected, but at least I still have plenty of room for maneuvere for adjusting the fan speeds if necassary at least with it being in a cupboard cuts out a lot of the frequency noise too making it far less noticeable at speeds over 2500+rpm
!!
Computer won't download
in Computer Discussions
Posted
Phantom, Aha, I follow ya and that explains that lol, admittedly I haven't used Sys Works for ages and only briefly on NTFS systems anyway, but that will be noted for the future, so thanx m8
!!
Craigs.......Can you access a copy of IE6 off a CD that comes free with a lot of the Computer Mags or summat m8? Obviously that way you could try ya re-install of IE6 at least without having to d'load it if there are those files missing etc, and they could well be part of the problem!!
