Dunno if you've done this yet, but a couple of other things relevant to the matter that you may find useful...... 1. In case it's not clear to you, before you download and install the patch that helps prevent you being infected by MS.Blast again you'll forst need to remove it, there is a Standalone MS.Blast cleaner at Sites like Norton and Mcafee etc......Run one of them and remove it, and then you can take the next step..... 2. If you install the patch that you are directed to above, be aware that for some reason the damn thing then runs as a seperate process for sme reason, and when

Not necassarily no.......... Norton can pick up some legitimate Scripts as potential viral activity. As an example for you my last AGP Card had an optional App you could install to O'Clock it called "SmartDoctor2". SmartDoctor was enabled to Start-Up at Boot and until I told Norton to ignore the App knowing that it was legit, it would flag a warning everytime. It may depend on exactly what the Script does and obviously how it does it into prompting Norton into thinking it may be a script making changes maliciously when it isn't!!! Ultimately check out the Script it is Flagging for you

Bluerose may be referring to one of these...... I use one as I only need to split 1 lead for my Headphones on my Audigy will take a full 6 Speaker Set Compliment for example, but a lot of Soundcards won't so you may need the Multi-Splitter posted in another recent post on the same subject. If you just need one extra Input then the above is spot on and will cost you nearer $3's !!!!!

Thanx Dannik and now in further answer to ya question Phantom.... Yes Dannik, ya rite, it is a Modem Router Combi and thanx for the link, but I already had it hehe !!! I had also already forwarded 5 DCC Ports (7 in total) after posting last nite too. I forwarded 59 and 6667 to make sure that they weren't a factor in stopping sends being the IRC Server Port and default DCC Transfers Port etc, and then 3950-3955 for the actual DCC Sends themselves too, still with no joy. I have also correctly assigned myself an IP out of the usual range that the Router assigns for other LAN Workstation

hehehe......... BTW White Knight, if ya going for an FX5900 and ya like a lot of IL2 then you are gonna love it on the FX m8 !!! I rarely play IL2 these days admittedly, but I had to check it out to see how it was gonna look with the FX5600 and geeeees rofl, everything is completely maxxed out and it does look very good indeed !!! Hopefully you'll be suitably impressed m8 !!! I've defected away from IL2 for a while tho hehehe. I'm back to playing Rowans BoB a lot again, and CFS2 (with Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and RAF Tornado addons in there).... ....A bit of CFS3 too, b

Heya Phantom, Basically no m8 .... ...As said. the "Reading Up" I have done on the issue on the Web for more indepth information and even "Step by Step Guides" all seem to only use a D-Link Router as an example and no others that I have been able to locate either ...... ....Obviously the D-Link example has it's own Software for their Routers, which clearly differs from my Zoom X4 and any other Routers like a LinkSys etc as further example (who I have one of their Switching Hubs as it happens too lol ( a LimkSys I mean), but that needs no messin with lol)!!! I do get the general ide

K..... Router is doing absolutely fine other than I can't send files via DCC thru mIRC. I know mIRC very very well and write a lot of my own Scripts for it and I know that that isn't the problem. I'm also guessing that because mIRC's DCC function and the way it works was in use a while before UPnP was too, that I'll need to mess about either creating VP's or even putting mIRC out on a DMZ to get round the problem !!! The DMZ basically is out of the question unless it's absolutely necassary, I may have to consider using DMZ for some Games etc, but no way for IRC for obvious reasons lol!
-
Heya Ruin, Back to ya original problem m8 lol......Seems weird that an App would tell you it can't except TCP (or "Transmission Control Protocol" in full, which works hand in hand with IP to put it simply), especially as you have no Firewalls up, Software or Hardware, or are you actually using a Software Firewall that you've forgotten about cos it's not Hardware m8 lol???? Apps rarely do that unless there obviously is a problem somewhere with your PC, but with that being the case, you'd more likely be telling us that you can't connect to the Internet with a whole list of different Progra

Thanx for the info again Phantom and also Dannik, I suspected the security issue wasn't relevant, but someone was telling me it was when I was saying it wasn't, and it was being disputed to the point of I had to check with someone else rofl!!!! Anyway........ Any of you guys ever use grc.com too (Shields Up)?? I use it a lot to check that my systems are reasonably secure when I make changes etc, and now with this new Router fitted when I logged on there too check the functionality of the new NAT working and when I initiate the "All Service Ports" Probe to make sure that they were either

I've had it for years too and also not had any problems on any of my comps past or present either !!! How you configure ICQ for Privacy etc can be a move in the right direction to help in stopping you at least "advertising" your presence so highly to the entire world when you log onto it however. Set it up so that only people added to your contact list can see you when you are using ICQ if you default to the normal "Available/Connect" Mode etc, obviously if you use the "Privacy (Invisible) Mode" options (as I do personally). Then you have even greater control over adding "personaly truste

Hope someone who has been using them a while can help out please lol, I know how they work etc and now haveone installed at Home after finally getting Broadband installed last week but am wondering if there is any "Core or Significant" differences whether you hook up the Router to a PC with USB or Ethernet????? Why do I ask.....I have a Zoom X4 that can be connected to the PC either by USB or Ethernet.......Is one more secure than the other if you have the option to use either is a main question??? Or are they just given as alternatives for those that don't have a LAN etc installed on thei

Phew, thought it was just me with a silly amount of 4 hehehe, and there's probably enough bits lying around here to make another 3 up as well rofl.....Will have to get on Ebay one of these days and start flogging some of it off hehehehe !!!!

Was gonna say lol, I had several Internal PCI 56k Modems when I was stuck with it and none were "Software Modems" at all. I also had a couple of Externals too (Inc 1 U.S. Robotics) and certainly the Internal ones I had also ran faster and cleaner than the Externals too..... Obviously much of that will be down to individual Sys Specs of Hardware and Software thatcan all have effects etc but never discount a particular type assuming that they only operate in one way etc, you may do yaself big time )!!!!!

Sad, sad, sad...... Further testament to the fact that some dicks really have nothing better to do with their time than come up with this total BS, and whats worse is another total Dick was stupid enough to entertain them too..... "Political Correctness" is fair enough when there is a "True Injustice" etc, but geeeeees, is there no ###### limit lol!!!!
-
Worx on my Home Ed too Snakebite.....I did wonder why it had been claimed that it didn't but wasn't going to start any arguments over the issue lol !!! Unless it was actually intended to say that the extended "Admin Tools" weren't available under Services.msc, and not that the "run line" didn't work??????????
-
Have you also checked what type your 56k modem is too, example, is it a V90?? If you upgrade to a V92 and your ISP supports it, then you will get much nearer the actual 56k and obviously see some improvement if you aren't already on it !!! The highest I ever saw when I used 56k all that time ago was 48,000bps, the average was 44,000bps depending ultimately on the ISP I used as that plays a part too in addition to the other issues that the guys have mentioned too!!! I haven't had 56k either for years, and as Cobblers mentions I was on ISDN for 3 years simply because DSL wasn't available

.....And it hogs your Net Connection Bandwidth when used to initiate Distributed DoS attacks too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noticed your Internet Connection slowing down at all at anytime??

Hehehe, Hey Pantera......I'm sure Mr Mamba will be glad for your info and it can only always be gratefully received, but the RAM issues fortunately were aready discussed in another of the threads he initiated concerning MoBo's themselves, as well as the possible limitations of them concerning everything from RAM to the PCI's !! He's decided on an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe anyway and just has to choose a manufacturer that's compatible, other than that he's on the straight and narow for buying his new bits now lol !!!!

AHA...... Thankyou very much Phantom...... ....You've just answered a whole big question for me.....I always did a manual Restore Point anyway as previously said when maing such alterations as a matter of course and common sense too ultimately lol. But, that now explains properly why even when a Reboot wasn't initiated when disabling the Sys Restore, that despite the files remaining that you couldn't then Restore to an earlier point. Seems simple now when thought of like that LMAO, and that'll teach me again for not reading into it more, but all is answered now hehehe... Cheers m8

I've never quite worked out exactly the way that the Sys Restore "Should" fully "behave" in "Win XP" lol. The System Restore Dir is Purged of all Data as it should be yes, but seemingly ONLY if you Reboot.... Furthermore, XP doesn't "seem" (that word again lol) to need a Reboot like Win's 95, 98 or ME etc etc had to, so you could kinda get round that and disable it, remove any problem files and enable it again before rebooting and all other files then stay. But, I can't help thinking that it shouldn't be that way and I'm not Stating that is is with the above either, as said, it's mere

The reason they keep returning is because they are in your System Restore m8. Run Norton Liveupdate again too, if it hasn't been updated for a while then sometimes it can take 2 or 3 times to fully update (even if it does a Download, then run it again straight afterwards anyway until you get a message saying that no more updates are available (if of course you didn't already do that, I understand lol)), and then hopefully you'll have the latest definitions to find the remaining problem too!! Otherwise....Unless you were guided through removing them from your Sys Restore Directory also, t

Hiya CL, Yup, the former isn't a nice one at all, it hogs Sys Resources and also has the capability to log Keystrokes to pick up your Passwords on your System as well as distributing other Confidential Info to those that control them via Backdoor !! Your best bet will be to visit the following link for the removal of that one, scroll down the page when you get there for full removal instructions, and also refer again to the other 2 threads linked in the last post too.....IF you are still struggling to remove it after that, then sure, we can hook up via ICQ if we are online at the same ti

It sounds like you may have MSBlast, Klez (as examples), or another of the Win32 Trojans..... ...They can infact affect Norton from Running at all, Live Updating and even Re-installing *GULP*!!! Do not Sys Restore or you'll just back up any possible infection and make it worse. Log onto the Norton or Mcafee Sites and download the MSBlast Cleaner and follow the instructions for use, and if that fails, then get some of the other Standalone Cleaners and try them too until you hopefully find it!! Check out these 2 recent posts with similar problems too for further reading on your potenti

No Probs and good luck, hope ya have ya new Sound System soon m8 !!

PC3200 = DDR400 PC2700 = DDR333.......And so on down lower !! And the 2 above would also be ya best options to go for too !! And with ya proposed new system on the other thread, a Case with a minimum of 4 Fans would be advised but no essential, also if you can push to one with 6 Fans then obviously all the better too !!
