  1. Someone else is building a system and posted about it here a couple of days ago, there's some discussion HERE on the Mobo you have shortlisted too if it helps !
  2. Was the info on the Maxtors useful too NYR lol??? Made a decision on that one yet hehehe??
  3. If you have used it before and ya happy to do it you could make a small adjustment using Igor to change the characters so they don't require unlocking that way. It's probably not the easiest way to do it and I'm not trying to confuse the issue lol, but if the methods you have tried so far don't work or any future attempts don't then you could turn to that !
  4. NP Dick Splash lol ! As said check out Toms Hardware m8!! If ya interested lol!! The card I have (listed in my sig), benchmarked at 13,657 (3DMark2001 Pro) with a few settings slightly tweaked down which I put in another post but have put it here to save you searching for it lol, that will give you a rough idea of what to expect from the 4600 as it should perform slightly better still than the 4200 . It averages around 12,800 with the GFX settings very slightly above a medium level and I've had a max frame rate of 233 FPS. I'm definitely impressed with this card tho for the money, i
  5. ???????? The link works and have been to the Microsoft website too to have a butchers around but there isn't a "9a" listed there??? Plenty of the various versions of "9.0" but not a 9a !
  6. As far as their specs go the Wes D's run at a max of ATA 100, whereas a Maxtor of the same size or higher will run at the faster ATA 133 and that is quite a difference, which is why I prefer Maxtor personally (as said we all have our individual preferences tho and I'm not saying in the slightest that just because I use Maxtors that WD's are crap or anything lol). Other than that the specifications of both drives are identical (eg 7200rpm and 8mb cache etc), it's solely that extra ATA speed!! That is the only reason I use Maxtors these days tho as I have also had WD's in the past too back w
  7. That does seem weird but it may be down to some settings as has been said. Look at my sys specs, my AGP card basically isn't as good as yours and I can get very impressive frame rates, it peaked at an awesome 233 FPS! Thats with V-Sync always on too, I've never turned it off! That's also with my Antialiasing set @ 2x and Anisotropic @ 8x too ! You should return better results than I can as you have a better card!! Use "nView" and NVIDIA's advanced "Additional Properties" to make a couple of adjustments as people have already advised m8 ! You don't have to d'load anything to do that, ju
  8. First off, yes there will be amazingly noticeable visual and performance differences over your present card without a doubt m8, and no you won't be wasting ya dosh at all lol ! Whether you go for the mentioned ATI or another of the latest generation of NVIDIA/GeForce cards is commonly down to personal preference most of the time. Both are very impressive when all is said and done but either way you'll be very impressed with the differences ! Go for it, ya know ya want to hehehe!!
  9. You haven't got any accesibility optins activated or anything like that have you, and other things like Sticky Keys etc??? It sounds like you "may" have some sort of visual aid enabled and it's conflicting etc???? More system specs too if that isn't the cause!!
  10. Must admitt I have the Thumb button on this Logitech Mouse mapped to the Command Map as well as the L-Shift! With it being right under ma thumb I certainly check the map a lot more with enemy close by than I did when having to reach for it a bit more with the keys hehehe !
  11. AArrrrr rite, I follow ya now Whiteknight! Yeh, it's probably just one of those compatability things isn't it, part of it can often depend on the manufacturer. If you cut costs on things like CD burners etc and buy a cheap one then often problems can arise unfortunately ! The DVD/CD-RW Combo I have is a Toshiba and it's performed flawlessly thankfully as said for 2 years ! On the flipside, I also have a standard Creative CD-ROM on another system which you'd expect to be very good quality and not cause any particular issues being Creative, but the damn thing is incredibly fussy about an
  12. I presently have a combo DVD/CD-RW and can't say it's ever been "Hampering" in the slightest Whiteknight hehehe!! I intend to get a seperate DVD-RW and CD-RW in the not too distant future anyway though (mainly because 1 has restricted speeds effecting the other etc and it is 2 years old as well), would like to know what you mean by "Hampering" tho Whitenight???? Do you mean for copying protected CD's or something else ?? I presently have 1 of the items you list NYR 32, that being the Asus AGP card (the exact same item infact if the one you are looking at is the x8 AGP which makes a
  13. LOL......... Hey Trav........There's now 7 of em m8 hehehehehe, still workin on em but should have it to you in the not too distant future (and this isn't on the Farm map you played in the past either hehehe, not gona tell ya which one or I'll spoil it lol) ! AND.......Thanx for the replies with advise, not had a chance to try them out yet as been busy with other things but hope to very soon, will post back if I have any problems and/or just on how it went in general anyway.....Help appreciated !
  14. I tried working with PSP7 at 1 point too after I got stuck with certain work using Adobe Photoshop elements and got exactly the same errors when trying to save work done in PSP . I too spent some time trying to work around it but the Plug-in is primarily for use with Adobe Photoshop although it does allow some files to be worked on and viewed with PSP but many wouldn't save!! After getting hold of Photoshop I've not had any problems at all and would sugest you do the same lol!!
  15. Yes you can ! Adjust the attributes of the enemy Actor ( .atr ) files and it makes them more challenging ! If you aren't used to working with them I've pasted in below what the info looks like if you open the files in Notepad but it's "ONLY as an EXAMPLE" as the files vary obviously. Adjust the numbers in the tags that are red and that will make em tougher hehehe (the higher the number the better the attribute)!! If you aren't making your own full mods as such then obviously back up the original files before you proceed should you want to change them back and it will only work if you are
  16. Wot's ya OS m8..... Also some rough system specs too and especially the make and type of mouse you are using too with the driver version lol!!!
  17. The onboard VGA Chipset is definitely disabled in the BIOS with you installing an actual AGP card presumably??? Many forget to disable the onboard stuff when they plug an AGP card in lol, not patronising you, just checking lol !
  18. I use a mix of both too, sometimes I go thru UBI sometimes directly! A main question will be what type of Firewall are you running. Is it a Hardware type built into a router etc or a Software Firewall like McAfee, Norton etc etc????? The UBI software is very touchy with Firewalls unfortunately and that's probably why you are getting the errors if it's blocking the downloads!
  19. In continuation.......Are you making sure you are trying to join a host that is running a compatible version to your Ghost Recon too, or is it doing it with every game you try to join?? The msg you are getting is the standard error msg if you attempt to join a host who is running for example V1.2, and you are running V1.4 and it's not compatible!
  20. LOL.....Hey Stinger ! If you compared ordinary SDRAM to the newer DDR then yeh, to all intents and purposes it isn't great but wouldn't necassarily say it was ever crap, it's obviously dated and well surpassed now, but it's still reasonably capable kit lol!! With 512mb DDR I agree you certainly can't complain hehehe, the difference is very noticeable, but if you want to eek out that little more then often more memory is far more beneficial than the likes of resorting to overclocking etc too, which many seem to do after having a new CPU for like 3 days for the hell of it hehehe ! More
  21. hehehe, It does take some getting used too, as TAW has advised situational awareness is a great help but even that can become unreliable at times in frantic moments of battle. Regular checks help but also try zooming ya sights more on a distant target too ! Generally if the reticule doesn't turn blue because of the distance you are from a target or freindly and you have no zoom at all, as long as you aren't stood bolt upright in the open or anything then it can often give you just enough time to zoom in a little more before firing or determining if the target you are looking at is frei
  22. When u say "Standard upgrade 1.1", do you mean a mod or otherwise??? The missing files son't appear to be standard GR, DS or IT files and look more like mod files that are missing, thats why I ask lol. Someone else also recently posted somewhere else with their game contantly crashing after installing this "Standard upgrade" too, I just haven't bothered to find out if it is a mod or what people are actually refering to with it hehe!! Also, wanted to ask someone if they ran their game at 1280x1024......If I try and run my game in that resolution I get a black border around the game window
  23. Never really bothered with this in the past or looked into how to do it lol, but wouldn't mind at least giving it a try ! Anyone mind giving me an idea of how it's done please and any extra helpful hints with setting it up etc would be appreciated too....(Obviously I know how to place fixed weps etc and enemy blah blah, just need to know how you get an enemy to actually use a fixed weapon instead of a personal weapon)!! Thanx for any replies !
  24. Not being argumentative here, but further to reading stingers post on RAM too.... There are some games that can be real hogs when it comes to the amount of installed RAM and they can also hold onto it even after a damn game has been shut down lol. Thankfully XP obviously manages such memory problems with far greater efficiency than WinME or previous "Win's" without having to use any extra stand alone apps to free up sys memory etc!! I have seen many games that really hog the stuff Stinger!! Rowans Battle of Britain is a classic example for one, if you had under 384mb SDRAM the gam
  25. Different......May help the people who answer questions like this a lot if you run GR and get the CTD..... ......Then copy the text from your IKE.log file (in the Ghost Recon dir) and paste its contents in here for them to have a look at it for you !
