  1. Microwave broadband, Thats iffy with Tx (Transmit),ie iploading. I suggest contacting your provider and asking what can and cannot be transmitted through your connection(If all hells fails). I went into your type of connection before i got dsl,and read some lit that had issues with transmitting through your connection. It may be caused by this. ? Hope this helps. Try basic tasks like ftp to see if you can Tx/Rx OK. I assume you can ping hosts OK ?

Try looking through your log files on your OS, There may be isssues here that can be identified

    LMFAO.......... ;)

  4. Now I'm confused. Oh I thought the higher the refresh the less flicker, Better for you. This in turn Reduces Headaches caused by flicker. BUT, a higher refresh rate makes the screen quicker, This too could give you a headache. Hey, I have a head ache.

UV lights are also another factor to consider. I play with the lights off In a darkened room. What do you do ?

Is this also a bad idea.

Help ! we need a monitor doctor...

  5. The file will delete tho if the app is not running, After your batch file runs its run and thats that it does not load its not and .exe. Is it ? Hope i'm right here, So stinger is the batch file 'script' or to change what you have detailed. Unsure of the the level here guys.

Still not sure about why your doing what your doing

    Sounds Weird

    LOL

    Trancer.......... ;)

  6. Doubt it's anything to do with a firewall or it probably wouldn't let you even connect to a host and join at all, let alone play for a couple of minutes before it goes down!

This I feel is very important information. V.Sensible, Like iT !

But Also consider, Is it another application that runs, along side GR while on-line. Try looking for processes like.

(These run when your hooked Up) These could conflict, From experience. Its Hard going :wall:

    ASE-All seeing Eye

    RW-Roger Wilco

    Gamespeak

You may not have these loaded if your in single player, Thats were i am coming from m8

Ensure ALL the apps that can be closed are closed before you connect. I play on 56K, And no BS if I'm quick enough when joining a server through ASE, I can close ASE down just before GR Loads up and takes me in. I can see an increase in game performance if I do this. Strange, Just keep trying.

Oh I see you refer to UBI, This too could be added to the list above. And it goes right at the top. I ditched UBI almost 30min after getting GR. Its not good m8. I use the all seeing eye its much better. I think if you do this it will all be fine and dandy ! Plus if you have more buddies in other games. ASE lets you track multiple buddies over multiple games. Its very very good indeed.

  7. Yes thats ok, but its not good for people who join clans or really NEED to change their names. Maybe site admin could create a system that only lets you change your name, Say Once year !. Then if for some strange reason you have to change it again you have to mail admin asking why you need to change Again, and authorise if need be.

I think this is suitable grounds for change, What do you think.

    Trancer,

  8. Can't you get an emulator that would run windows so you can play GR? Or maybe have a dual partition and dual boot system so you can switch between BSD and Windows? :)

Sorry man windows will not even go on a sun SPARC with a dual boot. Its can't be done. Emmulator like you say . May research WINE.

  9. Try using the Directx config utillity. As the above says it sounds like a prob I had related to my sound card. It only did it online ? I lagged bad then crashed and burned. The point is checK your settings there is something somewere that will cure it. I just mess till I sort it.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\dxdiag.exe

    Always worth a visit.

  10. Me again,

This is what I have and the prob I have,

Sun ultra1 creator. I have linux OS installed(open 'BSD'(Woody)SPARC). I wish to run GR on it it, But posted here weeks ago and -feedback- is that there is no 'Flavour' of 'GR' for linux 'OS',and not one in the pipe. However I wish to run it on a 'sun' box and that cannot run 'win'. However is there some kind of emulator for windows that i can run ontop of linux 'OS', Using no partitions. Then I can run GR. This is just a hobbiest mucking arround. I just wanna see if it runs better than an 'intel' cpu based machine. While I am at it I can take use the other benefits of a 'sun' box's hardware capabilites. Processing !!!!!!

  11. Hi looking for 24hr+ Lan party In Uk-NorthWest Area, to attend this year. Always wanted to do one but not sure how to go about attending one. Looking for something new.

  12. Scarry stuff huh?

Ny 1 think this could effect the gaming scene. Hey thinK about the X-box Live.PC dudes are already through the net. But this BS looks set to make its way through to us guys at some point. But It all depends on who wants it to be compliant with their services/equipment. Look at PB you have the 'Fac' to turn it off.I know the scary stuff is not just software based its also related to hardware too. But with the tech out there it just leads back to the thread I posted above.

Sorry to go on but this post has started me off on one. I h8t ideas like this there only good for buisness, And thats not what we are in it for. we just wanna have FUN!!

    Thanks for reading

  13. Very interesting ! But does it really matter. There is always Holes. And the funny thing is it cost a lot of money in development costs to instigate such a standard. Its mainly targeted at security and make the whole thing work better. LOL The laugh here is it promote's criminal intervetion. They Try and stop Crime, But then it just mutates yet another goverment rip off, and criminals walk off with easy cash.

    Please.....

I don't want to start a big Slag-off, this is just what I think. You only have to look back on all the other Poo ideas created by Who ? WHAHaHaHAAAAGH !

  14. I think if you want to run the batch file at any given time/date/year you can add ann entry into the scheduler to run a file ect, at a point in time. In your case this may will be your script/batch file. If this is any use, then this will also help point you in the right direction  . On a Unix box use the crontab file and edit the entries to include your script. If in your case I think 'windows' as you state 'batch' you can add an entry into the system scheduler by typing 'at' at prompt.

    c:/at

Use the help information residing with this utility to help understand ###### is going on. After the file has been executed you have the facilities to delete the file once scheduler item is completed.

Adding a crontab entry is little more difficult but I feel this is irrelevant DuDe !

If you do however refer to a unix box please tell me you r conv with 'vi' LOL

If your confused thats good, because thats makes 2-of-Us.

I did this about 12m ago so I know it worked. Interested as to what the problem stems from ? :-))

    Hope this helps

    Kindest regards

  15. N1 ! It all came back when i read some lit on one of those sites. One of those myths how the net works. You knowwhat you want and find it eventually. But could you find it again, I think not. Its cool. NC check out the below it solves the puzzles who need to cracK. Thx M8 Or Have you already got this far :wall:

You have to edit the hosts file on your machine, If its not got one create one. Don't know your os or chipset ie Unix/sparc/intel but i can tell you were. Call it hosts.txt Then edit this with the code to redirect port requests to LAN host. Heres the Hard bit.

I got this info for starters Quote:

On the gateway, we setup the rule that all connections to port 80/tcp should be redirected to port 80 on 10.0.0.2 (an internal machine). The incoming web connection would be labelled:

    Source: 163.158.1.2/7890 Dest: 194.160.1.1/80

This would be forwarded on to the internal host as:

    Source: 163.158.1.2/7890 Dest: 10.0.0.2/80

    Replies would be labelled:

    Source: 10.0.0.2/80 Dest: 163.158.1.2/7890

and would be rewritten by the gateway to:

    Source 194.160.1.1 Dest: 163.158.1.2/7890

My heads HiGh so I will miss on the above 2Ni8t. FooD for thought but its easy to Ban people as well with static ips. You just restrict access to a anywhere off your network on a given port ¿ I remember but it went that simply when I had it done I did't remember because I thought it was easy.

    LOL

  16. I use a Iiyama 15" TFT Monitor. And I love it, I don't see any problem with it myself. Good space saving desk wise, they loof great and reduce eye strain too!!

This is true, but come on admit it most of us would prefer a 21" CRT with a refresh of over 120. We only get one pair of eyes, and we may as well get the best of em. Never mind that eye strain and desk space. Get it filled :-)) LOL.

I got a Recon/Sun microsystems Sony monitor 21" and its probably the best I have seen, This cost me £50. I use a CRT at work and I prefer for graphics work and gaming. I find that the TFT is a little overated and people use em for different reasons than most gamers. We just want it as big and as fast as we can. Hey why don't you get a duel head and get a CRT and a TFT on the go at the same time.

sorry you need the space LOL.

  17. Please can somebody tell me or give me a web link to a location were i can find some information on how to get my server running now i have adsl.

I have my win-box connected to my dsl line, this is running 'me' and connected to my home network via a hub. All my machines are configured and running sweet. I wish to redirect all requests on a certain port number to my games server. I have done this a long time ago and only screwed it up last week when i got adsl. Help. I have put 'me' on the machine directly connected to the outside world. Was this a bad idea ? Suggestion, comments, and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have static ip's as you would expect. If thats any help.

  18. Hi all,

Please could I have some advice on general weapon selection. Still new to this and struggling as there is a hell of a lot more weapons to choose from than any other mp I have played before. Advice please on general choice, irrelevant upon which map your playing. I have been choosing a weapons selection from the sniper outfits, I am told this is a no-no for such a virginial player. :-))

  19. Just thought I would post this idea for optical mice use. If you are going to buy and use an optical mouse try getting some carbon fibre look film and stick it to a peice of glass. Then get another peice of glass the same dimmensions and lay this over the carbon film. You can then get some picture frame clips. You know the ones you get for glass picture frames and clip the two peices pf glass together firmly. This provides a superb surface for you mouse to ride on. And at the same time letting the optics pick up momement on the carbon textured shapes in the film. Hope all this makes sense. Its well worth the effort. And gives a nice clean suface. Carefull if you have a microsoft 5 button mouse or similar as the four oval ride pads on the under side of the mouse tend to stick on the shinny glass surface. For that last touch, get some car wax or something similar,(surf board wax is ideal) and coat and buff the glass contact surface!. All this may sound a little OTT. But hey the mouse is the fundamental link between you and your computer, You will be suprised at how much all this palava makes.

    Thanks for reading.......

Ps: Depending on the carbon look film, make sure you check the orientation of the textured shapes, Some brands will cause havock and the mouse will respond with some freaky results. Remember those original high end optical mouse pads. They were dirrectional. Different principle then, but same effect here.If this happens turn the film arround the other way.

    Have Fun........ ;)
