  1. if you cant get your retail store to replace the HDD then you definately can replace it with the manufacture. Western Didgital is really good about that in that respect (hopefully its not because of lots of practice  ) all the others arent bad either. just look at the repective webpage for RMA (Return Material Authorization)

  2. just be sure to check what type of file system you are going to use :D . the old computer guy at work where I took his place left me with a 6 gig hdd. He couldnt figure out why he had only 2 gigs of useable space because he set up a fat 16 filesystem. I still have issues with other stuff he has done. :wall:

  3. @ nightmare

I personaly would go with technology. If you can get 64 compaired to 32 then get 64. because in buying a new system what do you have to lose. 32 bit stuff is going to die once the price of 64 hits the break. (unless there is some new technology that I dont know about that only uses 64) think of future upgradeing. there is a possiblity that your motherboard will take a higher 64 chip with just a bios firmware upgrade. thats just smart so instead of haveing to buy a new computer in 2 years you may have to just buy a processor.

    thats my 2 cents

  4. I dunno guys what do ya think. Maybe sotophantome or white knight might have some better ideas. I myself can only think that this could happen with cached pages. Either cached server problem at his ISP or on his local box or even his ttl @ his dns server is set way way high. he is deffinately getting internet access to even post his problem. so what do ya think should we have him flush his dns & change servers. Clear all cache on his computer. and ask his isp if they have a cache server?

    dunno

  5. lexis alot of the crashing has to do whats active in igor/ghostrecon you must must have all files your working on in igor active. and again check to see if those files are read only.

I used to think igor was the most unstable program in the world untill I relized I had to activate the mod I was working on too

  6. believe it or not notepad is much better for modding stuff than igor. I my self use a blend of Igor and notepad mainly because sometimes the gui is easier on the eyes. couple of things might be your problem 1 you have the file as a read only. gr stock stuff is defauted this way so if you try and save, it says no soup for you. deleating it im not sure what you mean by that so I cant help you. go in to the folder you are working on right click go to properties uncheck the read only box. In XP it will ask about the subfolders say yes to those. and you are good to go

  7. oh and if you want a free virus detector go to www.antivirus.com and it will lead you to a free online scan. (its called scan doctor I believe) you will have to look for it its not obvious but its there

  8. It may not be a virus. Check to see if you have a lot of processes/programs running in the background. I know spyware is a killer for machines. do the normal scandisk defrag on systems. check to see whats useing your resorces eliminate those you dont need/use.

if you get a lot of popups all the time no mater which webpage then spyware is your speed enemy. to remove it look at a program called spybot. you can find it on google or download.com Its my favorite spy wear remover because it does really really well and its free (the worlds favorite word)

  9. When I started modding there was a tutorial around about weather changes in igor that helped me change the envioment of existing maps but I soon found that it would help change from night to day or vice versa. Some hints though you have to change the color of the fog to black (looks funny if you dont) change the sky and the distance that the bad guys can see. try to use other night maps as a guide. also what will be very helpful and make the map nore nightish will be to darken the textures (please only do that if you have permission of the author) and/or use the lighting tool. (one of these days somebody is going to show me how to use that stupid tool) last but not least if you do change the textures look on gr.net download page fore a skinner tool. no night to day modder should be without it. it will deassociate the texture from the original map so you can associate it with your map case in point made an awsome night map for ghosttown only to find that I had black ground durring the day looked really funny.
