If you've got stuff left over from previous install attempts run something like crapcleaner to get rid of them, delete the red storm ghost recon folder too if that got left behind, download patch 1.4 again and install
GR
Desert Siege
Island Thunder
1.4 patch
1.4 is the only patch you need to install and you do that after Island Thunder is on.
Once all that is on fire it up to play it, if you get an error then post back, should work ok though
-
Try it in this order and dont try playing in between,
Ghost recon
Desert Siege
Island Thunder
Patch 1.4

sniff sniff... whats that smell... cow....sheep... ah thats it, the sweet smell of scapegoat, how the hell would a receptionist think it was company policy not to allow members of the armed forces in?
Maybe she got terrorist forces and armed forces mixed up. Easy mistake I suppose

Go here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm
Get the klite codec pack, full version and install it, you'll be able to play pretty much everything then, it has codecs for all sorts in there.

Anybody tried Ghost Squad yet? I played it in the arcade when we were on holiday and its out on Wii.

Now that is a serious bug lol

Then you'll love this thread on 419eater, on 419eater they are a bunch of scambaiters so they get the email telling you that you've won so many millions then make the scammers jump through a whole load of hoops without any intention of giving them anything. Dont feel sorry for the scammers either, theyre thieves and if they got their hands on these guys then I'm guessing they wouldnt be waking up in the morning...
In this one they get the scammers to travel over 2000 miles to visit a fake safari camp to get a pile of money off a drunk who's spending it like there is no tomorrow, other characters are involved and the scammer has to sleep rough, gets beaten up by a taxi driver he couldnt afford to pay and thrown in jail for 2 weeks, its a long read but funny as hell.

LMAO that last one is a cracker

Wow, never even heard about that one! I'm sure there was a game that came out a few years back that was very similar to carrier command, cant remember the name of it for the life of me though

We're at slightly crossed lines mate, we both agree that pc piracy is higher than console the point I was trying to get across is that the big 3 invested heavily in the hardware for consoles and hoped to get that money back in games sales, bit like microsoft giving you the computer for almost nothing and hoping that you'd buy every bit of software you use as they would get commission on it.
It must be a right kick in the teeth to sell the consoles at a big loss then find every tom dick or harry can get chips for them which can be updated to work around your attempts to resecure the console.
-
Blimey BIS develop game thats not arma or ofp
I'm shocked. -
Id say piracy on consoles is a bigger issue on consoles purely on the basis of all the money the big 3 (nintendo/microsoft and sony) have ploughed into the hardware, they've made big losses on hardware in the hope that they'll recoup it in software sales, microsoft certainly didnt contribute any money towards my pc. So every pirated game there really hits them, probably a fair bit harder than a pirated pc game would.
The consoles can be chipped anywhere too, from your local independent games shop to the local computer fair, they're all at it and with the credit crunch in full swing I bet a lot of parents are wondering if its worth spending 40 quid plus on a game when they can get little timmy's console chipped and get the games from the bloke down the pub, if they can still afford to go to the pub that is.
-
Yeah we're nothing like the console market where games are region coded so you cant buy games from another region eh? I'm not bitter and twisted...
Honest!

Strangely enough I used to be able to bolt my sidewinder wheel onto it and have lots of room to play, not a chance on this thing i've got now though, plus microsoft in their infinite wisdom chose not to allow the sidewinder software to run on xp, so the wheel works but not like it should, nice going Bill

If Ubi bugs were all security devices, they'd have the most secure games on the planet

Muhahahaha and the ones that arent being patched will be secure forever...

googling for "NVIEW : Explorer: WAIT_TIMEOUT" reveals more people are getting that error, seems to be tied into the nvidia drivers, might be worth either updating or rolling back to an older one to see if it stops playing up.

My original was where an old built in wardrobe used to be so it came out and I had a shelf running alongside the wall for a bit too with some batons to support it, had a 17" monitor, printer, keyboard, mouse and a full size A4 scanner on it with loads of room to spare too, biggest expense was the MDF as I used fairly thick stuff so it wouldnt flex where it hung over the desk.
-
If you really want a corner, this is sort of what I did, buy yourself a crappy corner unit like this
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/3945...esk-With-Shelf/
get some MDF and cut it bigger than the desk, screw it on and put the little cd shelf back in place or a little further back or leave it off altogether, the beauty of doing it yourself is if your room isnt quite square you can make the desk to suit. Forgive the fag packet sketch but it should end up something like this

-
My old desk was a cheapo fibreboard desk with a customised piece of mdf on it, I'd got it in the corner so bought a big piece of mdf and cut it to what I wanted and screwed it to the cheap desk, bloody loved that desk I did, it had all the cabling slots in the right places and was cut in where the chair was so I could get comfortable
had to saw it up when I moved home as it didnt fit. -
is it the drive or the cable then mate? I had a weird one a while back that was causing odd lockups every few minutes, I never found what it was .
-
Think you'll ever get round to building a mame machine mate? They do look nice and only a bit of tinkering to get all the electrics running.
-
Make sure your motherboard drivers are up to date too, that can make a huge difference.

Name Change
in Humor
I think all the xxx-american naming is just bloody ridiculous, you're either american (born in america) or you're not, if it was any other way most of the USA would be european-americans.
If anything it smacks of racist tendencies, putting the population into sub categories, or am I reading too much into it.
