Just a note....
I'm not quite sure how the old Recons were played on the PC, but the Xbox and the ps2 version were a strafe fest. A soldier should be able to strafe and shoot..... Maybe not accurately from long distances, but he should be able to strafe and hit soomething 5 feet away. That is just rediculous. Strafing side to side at the same speed as running forward is ridiculous as well, but I don't want to go any further about that.

GR is all about marksmanship. The originals controls were perfect. If you say someone, You burtsed maybe 2 or 3 times, and they were dead. In GR2, someone can be 5 feet in fron of me, we strafe each other (60 rounds between us), and no one gets hit. NO ONE. These guys are soldiers. If you give me a gun with someone standing 5 feet in front of me, I feel sorry for that person. out of 30 rounds, I would at least hit the person 10 times (and the same for the other person). Precision has been taken out of the game. It takes me three sec. to even turn around!! (Veeeerry sluggish controls). Even one does not shoot and kill the other person in the first 2 rounds, you have a long shoot out on your hands. People run right through fire (even when they are registering being hit). They don't flinch, recognize the two bullets going in their legs, stomch, or anything? Is that realistic? People strafing back and forth 5 feet from each other and RELOADING because no one died out of the 60 rounds fired. Is that realistic? People running at a certain speed in a straight line, then when they strafe left to right, it is at the same speed. Is that realistic? I understand they want people to be at a dead stop in order to kill someone (which you should be), but if a soldier has a automatic rifle at ppoint blank range, he should be able to kill whom ever. At times it feels like recon, but most of the time it feels like Recon 6 3. On a side note, what's going on with the framerate? Many fans would have loved slightly enhanced GR graphics with the same mechanics and different maps. Now we have GRRREEEEEAAAATTTT graphics and 20 fps, sluggish controls, and poor hit detection. They made some many advances between GR and GRIT (online environment/community feel). Now I can even see who is in my lobby after I start a game without going through 6 menus. Now, I can't even change my rate of fire (online) without going though a sub-menu. Tell me, why do we need to see hand motions online? Why couldn't we use either the black button or white button to change the rate of fire? I mean, those buttons aren't even used online. I just think they took a few steps forward in term of making the game look Great. However, the took a few backwards on issues that were already in place. GR is about gameplay. I would have rather gotten great graphics on xbox2 knowing that the system can handle both looks and feel efficiently, than get a great looking game whos functions are average. GR is all about gameplay. Were haven't cared about graphics for sooooo long. we enjoyed the dated graphics because the gameplay was great. Now, I have a game I can take great pictures of and post, but playing it is absolutely frustrating.
Going back to a previous post, I think they should give patches out as they go along and not wait until the end. The longer they wait, the more people leave. By the time they finish everything, there will be less people playing this. The blood and stuff doesn't bother me because it is a Teen rated game. It is just the things they had right in GRIT, they took out. It is not only RSE to blame, but they people that tested it, the people who okay it. Like why did they think it was okay to take out online info (people entering room, etc.). I'm hoping they change this stuff for you PC players. I don't even play the PC versions, but I would have for you guys to get a very flaud version.

NO no, in regards to the chat. We were told to type our ?s and send them to a moderator (who was sitting next to the two dev. The moderator would pick the "best" ?s and relay them to the dev. to be anwered. MANY ?s were asked. I spoke with people after the chat and they said the same thing. They were asking important questions that weren't getting picked. Instaed, they picked the noob ?s you guys saw posted. That should tell you alot about the chat. They could have been predetermined ?s for all we know.
-
NYR.... that is great that you spoke with him as well, however so did I. I was the black guy with the tan leather coat with the tan skully hat destroying the WHOLE room AND talking ######... haha... Me, Blackwidow, the condor, and Mr Rags. So please, Everyone got owned (prob you as well) so I don't want to hear ######
(there is always a noob that has to stick is neck in it). Anyway, the Christian Allen I speak of told me alot..... it just wasn't the truth. -
No but really, just because they went from 2000 bugs to 17 (or whatever), doesn't make it ok. Your paper for instance.... that's like saying to the teacher, "I had 400 spelling mistakes, but now I only have 27." Yeah right, she MAY give you a "C." With that statment, you just tried to justify their laziness. As a consumer, I don't care what was wrong with the game before I bought. the only thing I care about is what state its in WHEN I purshase. I don't care about, "Oh, it's okay, you tried." F tried, I want results. My money demands it and more importantly, my time demands it.
-
Um... i have spoken with them (christian allen) in New york when they showed it 9 days before it came out. It was iffy then and he said it wasn't the final version (######, it might as well been). He knew then when we were asking him about people reacting to shots, hit detection, etc. He was just to chicken ###### to give us a real anwer just like he has been doing.
I mean that in the nicest possible way.....
..............

did you guys read that ######ty ass developer's chat? the game is good (not great), but dealing with you guys really downgrades the experience.thanks for the two weeks of fun, but.... now i must move on.
-
They was the biggest waste of time. None of the most asked about questions were answered. Acually, nothing was answered. They picked questions like..... Is there an over the shoulder view?........ Did you guys actually shoot the weapons in real life?........... Do they speak korean?........ WHO CARES!! What about Opimatch taking forever, what about hit detection (the game acknowledging you hit someone), what about seeing people entering the lobby during play, what about the game crashing (when will a patch be ready). ######???? These guys picked and answered questions a basic search engine could have answered in two minutes!!! I'm sorry, but knowing the intelligence of people in this forum, this chat session was a complete waste of time. I wish I could copy and paste. I'm sure they will post the session, after they edit it.
This was like a slap in the face of real fans. It seemed like evryone in the session just bought the game yesterday and it was there first experince with Recon. I surprised I didn't see, "how come I can't see my gun in first person." This is the type of question they would have picked over all others. I told them that many hardcore fans are going back to island thunder, and I just wanted to know SOME info. I mean, you guys only MADE THE GAME. I know single player is important, but ######???? Many people buy this game for Multiplayer and you guys know it (22 maps). So why is it that when someone has legitmate multiplayer/onilne question, they are not acknowledged? Wow, and these are the people we are trusting with the future of the franchise. If you can't give you fans an answer, just say it like a man. Don't shy away like an 8 year old girl like nothing was asked (Just cowardly). I'm glad someone got something out of the chat (12 year old noObs). However, us REAL fans have been screwed yet again.
I really hope they fix the PC version. If SOME of us console players find fault with the sequel, it would help to know PC fans have close to evrything they want in this sequel. I want someone to be able to enjoy the hard work put into this game, it jsut doesn't look like it will be most of the hardcore console community (which is ashame). Shame on you Ubisoft/RSE for muzzling a real fan
(OMG, did I just say Shame on you? .... Wow, that's what shady people do to you). -
Agreed... the co-op is good. I just hope they patch the major bugs or this game (I feel) will ultimately fail
. Does anyone else have any opinions on these matters?
(ps. I the water is perfect though.... hahaha...
) -
Hey, thanks everyone for replying. I to beleive RSE did a fine job and I hope I got that point across to them in my first post. I never played socom, however, I do have the ps2. It's hard for me to get used to the ps2 controller with fps because my thumbs always touch, hahaha ( I play basketball, my hands are HUGE -- lol). Anyway, in terms of hitting players, do you think they can patch that or is something like that to late (i know patching thing on a PC are much different than consoles). I hope you guys have fun with it. It will def. be a good sub for socom. I do think all of the hardcore gamers of the two previous games will eventually leave if these issues aren't dealt with. It's like they intrduced us to a certain online gaming level, and then they went backwards and took it away. But, if they could just fix the target/hit indication, that would make up for alot. I just feel like this game (as it is now), will not have to same lasting appeal (18 months or so) as the previous games. i hope the dev. read this and respond. I think (know) my posts make up the opinions of most of core RSE fan base. How often is it that fans like this post useful input for dev.?
Great input by everyone. This is the exact reason I posted today. KEEP THEM COMING!!!

Copied and pasted that from another forum. Sounds like ud b intrested in having a little chin wag with the devs....
Also sounds like the kind of issues European PS2 players had with Socom 2. It took them 6 months to addresse the problems the hardcore gamers had with the new game. And many many players left the scene. I hope UbiSoft listen and act faster. I've never played any GR games but im gonna b geting GR2 and hope it can replace my love for Socom.
On a side note hit detection always seems to be the first thing they change when they bring out a new edition of a game. And it seems like they always screw it up. Its beyond me why they have to try and improve everything by totaly revamping it. Normaly meaning they lose the tihngs that set it aside in the first place. Anyway im gonna stop ranting as im looking forward to geting GR2 friday and just wanted to let u know about the dev talk...
Enjoy!
Wow thanks.... I guess i will take advantage of this. Do you know if they can fix any of these problems? What was wrong with Socom and what changes did they make?
Thanks again,

Another issue is with the Optimatch. The Optimatch makes joining games almost impossible. When ever I go to the optimatch and search for games, the list comes up. That is fine. However, when I select a game that says "Set Up," it takes so long for Optimatch to put me into the game that when I do join, the game started 15 seconds ago and I must wait ten minutes for the next round.
i found that it was pretty easy to work around this by just looking for games that were in progress that had a high time (10-15min for mission, coop type stuff, 3-4 min for LMS or whatever) .. you still hafta wait a minute but it's easier than trying to join 10 different rooms for me. i COMPLETELY agree that this could be a smoother process though.
Controls (sensitivity) is a big issue with hardcore GR fans. The controls seem very sluggish (it's ok in OTS, but it feels like it should change in FP). Most fans play in FP (for targeting and seeing reasons). These controls are a step down for competitive GR fans.well, did you consider that the aim speeds and stuff are the same for OTS and FP? you are just seeing a smaller slice of the world in FP so it seems slower but you are aiming the same speed as everyone else which is only fair. i disagree with your idea that 'most fans' play in first person view - i'm a fan and i strongly prefer the 3rd person view for both the added situational awareness and also being able to read terrain cover much more quickly. i can still see and shoot guys easily.. also it seems like certain guns especially marksman aim much slower than others so that may contribute some to the feel of being slow.
. I don't understand how someone could be shot in the chest and not show any signs of being hit. Not only that, but they can then runs behind cover. This came is all about accuracy. I know the person is being hit and he is wounded, but how can he just run through bullets for cover.interesting...isn't that how gr1 worked? at least on the pc version, in MP there were plenty of times where i had to shoot somebody 3 times or more to take 'em down. it was sort of a habit for me to burst 2-3 shots with OICW...in gr2, i've gotten 1-hit chest kills with sniper rifles (although maybe those chaps were already damaged, i dunno).. but i dunno, it doesn't seem that different to me. most of the times it took me a while to kill somebody was because they were moving fast and i'm pretty sure a lot of my shots weren't quite on target..
your probably right with the one shot kills on the sniper. I'm never a sniper, so I have no idea. I will try th eoptimatch thing. responding to the GR1 thing, they def. flinched and paused when being in GR1. No sure about the PC, but def. GR and GRIT.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, but I've been reading the forums daily for about six months now. I heard about this forum from other Recon players (xbox). GR is my favorite game (GR, GRIT), and I play among the best of the xbox versions. Our team (clan) has been in the top three in GRIT for the past 4 seasons, so competition and this game, to me, go hand in hand
. I love reading these forums because it seems to me there are some very intelligent people posting in them. It is this reason why I am posting today. I, as well as most of my friend's list, was very excited about GR2. Outside of it's competitive nature, GR stresses accuracy and technique. This is what sets this game about from other military shooters.
I picked up GR2 on Wednesday and popped it in the Xbox. After about about three hours, I had an impression. I have now been playing it for five days, and there are many things that I feel RSE has dropped the ball on.
First let me say the game is beautiful, and it seems RSE has put alot of effort into picking the technology up in the game and passing the standards of a console game. For this, I am so grateful. You have always shown your dedication to us fans and this sequel is another reason fans can be proud of Recon and its developer.
The issues I, as well as many others, have with the game is online features. The friendlist is very frustrating. It is frustrating to the point where clans are have trouble recruiting because invites can't be sent out. The friend list always makes casual play frustrating because the host (me for instance), can not send out invites to because the "pop up" that goes online. This takes the "online community" feel that GR is has established and tosses it right out of the window. I'm sure this can and will be fixed, but I just wanted to mention all of the issues that I've been told to mention.
Another issue is with the online features. It seems that so much was done between GR and GRIT in terms of making the online more of a community and easy to navigate. With GR2, it seems that we have taken a step backward as a community. As the host, I cannot see who has entered my room while I am playing. This was a very good feature in GRIT. With this feature, the host can fill up a room and cut down on waiting for other players. If a player came into the room 10 seconds into the game (or maybe a friend of someone's in the game), the host would be able to back out of the game for them. This frustration is amplifyed by the fact the optimatch is so slow, that this feature deletion is more annoying than ever. Why doesn't GR2 have all of the features GRIT had. Shouldn't GR2 have those features plus more?
Seeing who is speaking in game was a great feature for team work that is not in GR2. If one is playing a casual game, he does not know everyone by voice. There for, "I need help, I have three in front of me" means nothing to the rest of the team. If we knew who was talking, we would be able to help out with greater effeciency.
Controls (sensitivity) is a big issue with hardcore GR fans. The controls seem very sluggish (it's ok in OTS, but it feels like it should change in FP). Most fans play in FP (for targeting and seeing reasons). These controls are a step down for competitive GR fans.
The final and biggest issue has to do with gameplay. The frames are a little sluggish (which is expected with graphics like these) however, shooting someone is very frustrating and unrealistic
. Maybe great players are going back to GRIT because of this. It feels like this title should be called Ghost Recon 6. I don't understand how someone could be shot in the chest and not show any signs of being hit. Not only that, but they can then runs behind cover. This came is all about accuracy. I know the person is being hit and he is wounded, but how can he just run through bullets for cover. This just makes it so that people are wounded all over the map, but no one dead. It just seems like unless it is a head shot, it takes 6 or 7 shots to kill. The reason why this is frustrating is because people aren't out in the open often, so those after 1 shot, they are going to hide behind cover, and the game has made it easier for people to be sloppy and and make up for it by not beinig penalized by a pause (hit animation), slower running, etc. I have seen people strafing each other and reloading, wcich is unheard of in GR. And for anyone wondering, the players I'm talking about are among the tops in the game (no scrubs over here). Accuracy is stressed so much in this series and it seems like most (not all) has been "modified." It also seems like skill has been taken away from many players and situations. Noobs have an actual chance of killiing some now (mind you, not a very good chance, but a chance never the less, haha) Why has all of the great featured that makes Ghost Recon what it is, taken out? Many of the top players (myself included), are playing GRIT, not because we want to (don't get me wrong, it a great game, haha), but because this resembles GR, but there are alot of "Key" things missing that effect gameplay greatly.
RSE, I know some of the developer read these threads, and I would like to thank you for the entertainment you have given me and fans all over the world
. Your hard work and dedication is much appreciated by many. I thank you personally for your innovative ways and game support (especially Xbox LIVE, along with Ubisoft of course
). Are there any "patches" or updates that will come out to fix any of these issues. This is a great game with some frustrating issues that many people have noticed and are turned away by. I want this game to be heavily supported by the community and you guys get the recognition you deserve. If anyone has any information or if any of the developers read this please respond. I would love to know your take on my (and a community I'm with) opinions. This post was not to offend anyone and if I did, I am sorry. That wasn't my intent. My intent was to add to the community discussion, speak with the developers, and try to make this game the best it could be.
Thank you for reading.

What about any other patches? Any word for on those?
