I played Socom 1 and 2. Socom 2 took up my life for the past year. Thatis all me and my friends ever did. We did have fun, but Socom's glaring problems always had a way of staring back me right in the face. Biggest problem was how people would take large amounts of bullets only to stay alive and kill you.
Well my friend, our day has finally come. Ghost Recon 2, as far as I am concerned, is Socom 3. That is how good it is. I have had it for only a week and I can tell you it is exactly how Socom 1 was, with no lag, no cheaters/glitchers, and equal guns. Not to mention online Co-Op. But the point is, just like in Socom 1, peopel die with 3 or less bullets, period. That alone made this game so much fun for me. I met SOOO many SOCRACK ADDICTS on Xbox Live playing GR2, my friend list grew to like 8 people the first 6 hours i was logged in. Now I got my Xbox just to play Halo 2 online, but after playing that at a friends house and seeing how online was hard to have fun if you didn't already have friends online, I wont be buying it. But be warned, this game is for people who are smart, stealthy, patient, tactical, and deadly. This isn't Socom 2 strafe battles. The maps are sometimes a little too big, but hopefully smaller maps will be coming out soon. Beats the heck out of buying that stupid PS2 HDD and getting those Socom 2 maps huh? That would have costed $130 for what 3 maps? Get this game dude, it is well worth it. I could go on and on about how much better this game is. Just soo many improvements from a Socom players perspective. I will still play Socom 2 online, every now and then, but only to appreciate how good ghost Recon 2 is.

How many more missions do I have left in the campaign?
I am currently on the mission where I have to search for and escort a convoy of officers in humvees out of the area.

i don't have any clue man. i just now beat the first mission. after a week. hope it was just me warming up to the game.

Used to be a Socom nutt until the problems on Socom II, looking forward very much to getting GR2 on the Xbox. Hope it gives me months of great game play like Socom 1 did. Im sure the game will be different in its own way but im hoping for somthing great along the same kind of lines to sink my teeth into. Should b good!

One quick question, i heard the PS2 version isnt third person online anymore. Is the Xbox version still third person ?
I'm really not to sure about the ps2 version. I put all my attention into the xbox version. i know on xbox it is third person online oneplayer. But if you have two or more online i think its first person.

First of all I'll like to say in my opinion GR2 kicks socom 2's candy ass!!!
Damn this game is realistic, as well as beautiful!!! However I have 2 problems with the game, 1. where the hell is the blood? and 2. why can't we make our characters jump?
I have ben a big fan of socom sicne it first came out. I love that game. To me, it is the godfather of any shooting game. I will always play it to the very end of my life. I would love to see what would happen if you put socom in the same room with gr2? That would definitley be very interesting to see. Anyways, i just im just trying to say that(IMO), i would kill any gr2 player with a socom player(if that makes sense??)lol
GR@ is still an awesome, tubular, radical, knarley, terrific, cowabunga game!!!
But socom owns all.

Hows the voice acting? Death animations? Environmental sounds while playing missions like GR or do they bomb you with stupid arcade music like some other military games do? Plays like GR or more like MOH,COD etc?
if you get hit, your guy moans according to how much damage you have. can get a little annoying after a while though.
deaths are a little like rainbow six, just kinda fall down abruptley. no blood at all.
music, i haven't noticed any at all. if it has music, i didn't hear any.
enviormental sounds rock. if you walk through a stream, you hear the water. look down, cuase the graphics onthe water are outstanding.
When you walk around or run, you can hear the noise you make. Not like the grass crumbling, but the ammo shaking in your pocket, water in a canteen, etc. Plus, the shells casings hitting the ground sounds really good.

IMO, this game rocks the boat!! Picked it up last night at gamestop and played till 1am. Didn't want to put it down. Online is great. Very nice, detailed, abundant maps. holla at me if you have any questions abuot the game.

Hmm id say saying "socom looks like GR2" isnt very good to say around here. Its the total opposite mostly everyone wants GR2 to look like. Ive played socom/socom2 and the game sucked so bad IMO..but thats me.
About the XBL gamer tag, theres a thread on the GR2 console section where to post your gamer tag.
I'm not trying to say socom is a better game. I haven't even play gr2. Noone owns the game yet. I'm simply looking for people who like/own/play socom that will also be playing gr2. So, if you don't play/own/like socom, then i don't care what you have to say. I don't mean to be rude, i'm just directing this topic to certain gamers. Gamers who play socom and like it.
As for the gamer tag. I have already posting on that link and am very aware of it. I want gamer tags here of people who(again) play/own/like socom 1 or 2.

Just curious if there are any people on here that play socom 2, and if so, will you be playing gr2??
I myself am a socom addict. However, a lot of my friends don't have ps2. So this is the first game on the xobox that will highly resemble socom. I personally love the 3rd person that up until now, only socom had. I am bitting my teeth waiting for this game to come out. It looks very much like socom, but with different maps, skins, and weapons. People spend $110 plus tax in order to get 3 new maps for socom. Ill just spend $50 and get gr2 with new maps, etc.
Ive tried to get some hype up on the socom boards, but with no luck. I can't understand why when starwars battlefront came out, a lot of the people on the socom boards were talking about switching, but now, nobody is talking about switching with a game that can acually give socom a run for it's money(i'm refering to game play, not stats of any kind.)
so, socomers with xbox live, talk to me. tell me what you think about gr2. If you like it, put down your xbl gamer tag and maybe we can meet up and run some gr2, SOCOM STYLE!!

I like to change up my guns depending on who i am up against and their style of play. The map has a big part of what gun i pick. I have different statagies for deferent maps. I also change the gun depending on the opposing team. If there sniping, i will pick the gun that i can best use my anti-sniping tactics with.
overall, i like the m4a1 carbine with scope, and the saw. I also like the slienced handgun, m29, and the sniperrifle that looks like the m40. However, i haven't played very much and these are just the first guns i pick in there respective catagories. I plan on trying out different ones tonight.
